I've been a member at the Y for about 3 years at this location. I've been going to YMCAs since I could walk, as my family have all been members for years. The Pensacola YMCA has the best staff. The front desk is always very friendly and helpful. There is also a very special relationship amongst all the members. After just a couple weeks people are introducing themselves and are very welcoming to new members.
The facility itself is older but always clean and organized. Always soap and paper towels, which is a big deal to me. Also, the new Y is currently being built and will be beautiful, so no use in complaining. Equipment is well placed and in fair condition.
The only complaint that I've ever had with this location, and it goes straight to the higher ups, is their very strange towel policy. I pay what I think is an above average rate for membership; In all the YMCAs I've been to all over the country you scan your card and you are handed a towel. Pensacola YMCA, they used to charge one dollar to rent a towel. I was paying close to my membership in towel rentals. They did away with the one dollar rental, and said we'll give out towels but when they're gone we won't be replacing them. Seriously? Only Y in the country to do that. So it's a real crap shoot to get a towel to say the least. The only other complaint I'd have is the Saturday hours. Stay open until 9 like the rest of the week.
All in all a great gym. And I'd highly suggest joining this gym. Might want to bring your own towel though..

Oldie but a goodie. Wonderful staff, great instructors for a big variety of fitness classes. Yes, the facility is old, but you will have no trouble putting in work there. They have a lot of different ways to work out - all of them great.

Old, overpriced. Last two workouts it was as hot & humid inside as it was outside. The monthly fee is outrageous for what you receive; unfortunately, there aren't many downtown options.

Yes it needs a remodel and will be soon! I love all the group fitness instructors they make the classes fun! Staff is willing to help you on your fitness journey. Not a stuffy or stuck up atmosphere. It is a positive environment for all!

So far I have enjoyed the classes and the staff at this facility. I like the way the YMCA uses every inch of that place. Try Bodyflex Mondays at 4pm and Tums and Buns Thur at 4:15 high energy and effective workouts for all training types.
