ohh whoo service is good, The menu was a seafood lover's dream. I indulged in a variety of dishes, from the fresh catch of the day to the perfectly seasoned shrimp scampi.
The flavors were simply outstanding, and the quality of the seafood was evident in every bite, overall the food is good with decent price.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 14, 2018
The food is delicious!!!!!
Check out this size of burrito!!!
Well the place do lived up to its name!
All the dishes here are "seafood" intended~~~!!
I will definitely return to this place to try their other seafood dishes~!! YumHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 23, 2017
Waffle fries with my order!
I am so used to ordering fish and chips (the chips are the regular cut fries). This place have a different take by serving waffle cut fries.
It seems like a mom and pop joint. There are plenty of seats inside and outside. Your food is prepped in the front of the store so you can see your order made.
We ordered the fish and chips and grilled salmon taco. Let me start with the fish taco...
It is huge. The salmon was great and I could have mistaken my order for a burrito. The fish and chips did not disappoint. The battered fish was soft and flaky. The waffle fries was delicious and almost reminded me of Rallys but only better. Our order came with coleslaw and it was ok.
I would definitely be back because this place breaks the monotony of eating out.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Aug 4, 2017
Their fish and chips are great! The service is quick and the people are friendly. I'm happy that they have a few selections of fish to choose from. Not just standard cod. The criss cut fries are crispy and yummy. This is one of those places that you can only go once a week or so. There food can be a bit oily, but hey, that's the only way to do fish n chips!
The staff makes sure that all the tables are clean immediately and all table condiments are stocked. Did not get their fish tacos but they sure looked good! Definitely a place to check out if you want to eat fish!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dec 1, 2019
Small hole in the wall place. We came here during the summer for a fast lunch based off yelp reviews. Decent menu with a variety of a la carte tacos. I tried the swordfish. Was pretty good and prices are good. Reading yelp reviews, it says it's closed, not sure why because I would have come back again

Pretty laid back and chill location. I stopped in because I was walking around downtown San Diego and was starving. I ordered a shrimp taco and it was so good!
When I walked in there were a few tables and the employee was sitting at a table with headphones in. I waited about 4 minutes before he actually got up and walked over to take my order. He seemed super bothered by my presence. Pricing is a little high for what they offer but my food was cooked fresh when I ordered and I always appreciate that factor in a restaurant!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mai W.Framingham, MA31810Jul 28, 2018
Amazing hole in the wall restaurant. Very reasonable priced fresh fish tacos and burritos. The fish taco had 4+ oz of fish each, and the burrito had at least 6+ oz.
The burrito had fish, cabbage, and salsa on it (no rice or beans), and it came with a side it cole slaw and French fries.
Don't be turned away by the appearance! The food is delicious :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 28, 2018
Spent $12 here for lunch getting the fried fish (cod) burrito which comes with waffle fries and slaw. I had pretty high expectations given all the five star reviews, but my experience was pretty average.
The fried fish in my burrito was good but I could barely get a bite of fish - or maybe it was just overpowered by the sheer amount of shaved lettuce in the burrito. Fries were solid but slaw was inedible.
I gave it three stars since my dining companions seemed to have liked their choices so maybe I just made the wrong order - but am not hyped about this place.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Oct 23, 2015Updated review
Came back for the 2nd time in my indecisiveness of what to eat on a Friday. It was around 2pm so the lunch rush definitely slowed. The man at the counter continues to be the most enthusiastic person I have ever met in my life (again: sarcasm).
This time, I had the grilled hallibut and grilled salmon tacos. I asked for the 2 taco plate (specifically the 8.50 one) but I guess if you specify the types of taco meat.. they do not honor the 2 taco plate -- or this guy just decided to ring me up with the most expensive version of my order. Instead, I paid for two tacos (4.50 each), fries (2.00), and coleslaw (1.00). Total at $13 shy a few cents with tax. Make sure you inquire if you approach and think you're getting the two taco plate... thankfully i was hungry enough to pay the 13 bucks.. we'll consider the excess his tip.
The tacos continue to be a good size (each one contains a single portion of fish filet.. on the bigger side). I personally like the coleslaw.. and of course the fries continue to be delicious. It will fill you up and you won't feel weighed down like if you eat any of the other fast food in the area.
I just wish the guy was a little less grouchy.. the woman working the kitchen seemed less than enthused as well. And if people come in ordering the two taco plate.. it would have been nice to alert me to the fact that it would be individual items..
4 for the food.. and just -0.5 star for the mleeeh attitude of the guy working the register.. I still would come back if I had a hankering for fish tacos. I still do recommend.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Apr 24, 2015Previous reviewI have a thing for fish and tacos. So I was happy to see this place was within walking distance from my office. I've passed by before and, although there has never been a line out the door, there have definitely been a constant visual of patrons. Yelp had a bit of a higher rating in the past (4.5) but they seem to hold steady at a 4...so I was still willing to swing by and give it a shot.
Came by on a Friday for a late lunch with a co-worker. It's counter service with a sprinkle of seating both inside and outside (enough to get by for the amount of folks there). The man at the counter couldn't be more excited to see us (note sarcasm). Sure we took a few minutes to figure out the menu (they have a good list of entrees to pick from), but it would have been nice to receive some guidance or suggestions.. perhaps a smile? We did encounter one friendly lady who brought our food out to us.. so that somewhat ameliorated the ambiance.
We ordered our tacos grilled style. They were a good size (surprisingly big) with a good helping of fries. The fries were delicious; I can see why so many folks raved about them. Nothing special in that they probably pre-made/ freezer fries (not made in-house) but they are still tasty and seasoned well. The fish was also very fresh tasting and appropriately seasoned. The shrimp taco was very disappointing with small pieces of shrimp that seemed like they came from a bag (DO NOT recommend the shrimp taco). All in all, it was a nice place to chill and get some fish grub.
I'd say it's a solid 3.5 -- even with consideration of being a small family owned joint. There are some areas of improvement (e.g. counter courtesy) but it'll satisfy that hankering at a reasonable price. Would maybe return if I have an insatiable fish taco crave during my 9-5. Might recommend but it wasn't mind blowing enough to be landmark. - Jessica F.Las Vegas, NV2015Jan 3, 2018
We came to town for the Design 2 Parts Supply show and saw this place on Yelp. The ratings were between 4 and 5 stars so we decided to check it out.
First, the Downtown Fish Joint has A LOT of seafood and tons of different fish dishes to try that sound very interesting. We tried at least 3 at once. The prices are reasonable for any part of the country and a STEAL in San Diego!
Unfortunately, a lot of their seafood dishes very heavily breaded. It's not bad, but be prepared for ALL heavy fried food.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
