This is the best breakfast in Rochester. It's not even close. Everything that I've had there has been top-notch. My favorite is the corned beef hash but there's always something delicious on the specials.
It's also very nice sitting outside in the summer. Their patio is small but very nice.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Dan C.Clarkston, MI027May 5, 2024
This place is fantastic. Great selection of breakfast and lunch offerings, everything very fresh and often homemade.
The corned beef is great and cooked in-house. Eggs Florentine is a winner.
We typically get take-out for lunch but eating in the restaurant is good too. One other thing that stands out is how friendly and helpful the staff is. Always on point.
Outdoor seating for a nice day as well.
100% great place.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Bobbie E.Palm Desert, CA47170141Nov 2, 2023Updated review

The Owner has been hands on since the day his Restaurant had opened. He knows all his regular customers, if not by name Always by facial recognition.
You will NEVER FIND a BETTER, FRESHER TASTING, meal than you will have here. Established in 2001, I'm pretty sure I was among the first 50 people who tried Downtown Cafe. I was having my nails done, in the building behind this restaurant, and I was starving. I happened to notice the sign, before I turned the corner. Wow I can grab something for lunch afterwards. Needless to say, it became my

It's packed with Chicken, tomatoes, walnuts, dried cherries, celery, and is served with a side of your choice. YUMMY ! My better half, usually gets the Maurice Salad. Our plates are clean when we are done. If you want some different tasting pancakes, THIS IS THE PLACE ! We haven't found anything on the menu that we haven't liked. The place is small, there is outside seating in nice weather. You may have to wait for a table BUT TRUST ME.......IT'S WORTH THE WAIT!!!!

I cannot believe I've been visiting the Rochester area for decades and didn't know this cafe existed. Yelp led my child and I here and we were amazed by the quality of the food and the service. We spent fifteen minutes debating which dishes to choose. We will have to try our 'rejects' on our next visit, because this is now our default breakfast place.

A tiny little place on Main Street but with the nicest staff. For our latest adventure, we came back to Rochester because apparently we can't get enough of it.
I ordered the southwestern scramble off of the specials menu. The eggs with jalapeño and sour cream was delicious. It came with a jalapeño cheddar corn bread. That was a little dry but still had good flavor. This dish does not come with any potatoes or sides, fyi. They didn't have a kids pancake special but let us order a single pancake with chocolate chips, we also ordered a side of sausage. The pancake with chocolate chip was under $5 and even with the sausage came out to just $8. This is Rochester.. and they still know that you don't need to charge $2 to add chocolate chips to a little pancake. (I'm looking at you shine cafe of Troy).
The place was filled with those that seem to frequent this place. I can't blame them, between the service and the food, I would be here often as well. Afterwards, we went across the street to the paint creek trail so I could burn off every calorie I consumed. We shall be back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Janet D.Shorewood, WI016Jul 17, 2023
Excellent, unique, tasty food, with many options for vegans, those with food restriction (However, no GF bread, so no toast option). I will plan to go back so I can try some of the other interesting, non-standard choices on the menu--they are what made this place stand out, so if you are bored with other breakfast places, go here.
Even though the place was packed, they were efficient and friendly with good service. It was raining and chilly that day, but might consider an outside waiting area or even dining patio in the future if space allows.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Allison K.MI, MI0369Jun 16, 2023
Laid back restaurant for a Saturday brunch. Got there at 11am on a beautiful day. Only waited maybe 15 minutes for an outside table. The table umbrellas provide some much needed shade from the hot sun. Surprisingly quiet considering you are on Rochester Road with bumper to bumper traffic. If you didn't see it through the landscaping, you would not know it is there.
Food was fine. Nothing especially notable. Prices were fair for brunch. Service was good. I'd go back again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Apr 3, 2023
I've been a frequent of this place for the last 15 to 20 years and I have never had a bad experience here. My favorite is the corn beef Reuben. You will not know here or find a unique special. quiet when it's not full, but so comfortable what it is. There definitely would be some wait time if you're going for breakfast or brunch on the weekends.

Snug, small place--warm & inviting prompt service. Fills up tables quickly. Nice place for conversation...a breakfast/lunch date. Menu has creative choices beyond the basics. Saw take-outs, too. Food presentation pleasing & hot stuff served hot! I had a late breakfast of mixed wildberry pancakes & later heard others ordering the same. I'll try it here again.
