      I got a suite and the bathroom wasn't cleaned properly. There was stains on the walls. The door didn't close all the way. The room was old. There is no microwave in the room. The bathroom toliet and sink was dirty and stained. I didn't even want to use the bathroom. The worse part was the roaches. Yes roaches! I will never stay here again. I can't believe I spent $165 for this.

      After check-in, I checked the app room was ready (However, the app was wrong). I got to the desk and was told the room was not prepared, but they could get me a different room on a lower floor. I asked how long the wait was to get the room request, but no answer was given (pretending like I didn't ask that question and started typing), and being tired, I took the room. The lobby was busy with guest check-in and so on. I made it to the room and smelled a little weird, but overall okay. The cushion on the couch was worn out when you sat on it, practically sitting on the bed underneath. View of other building rooftop and that's about it, bathroom sink kept dripping on and would have to push handle hard to stop it--shower outdated and tiny bathroom. I called the front desk three times to get someone to request a late checkout with a reservation, but I realized it wasn't mentioned at check in. Finally someone answered didn't let me finish cut me off I can check out at 12pm overall not very helpful or friendly staff.

      I stayed 5 days at this hotel. The room was nice and smelled very clean in the hallways. My bathroom door was not able to close because it did not fit right on the frame. I did not complain it was not a big issue for me but it shows a lack of effort and carelessness. The staff was very kind and accommodating when needed . They serve a breakfast in the morning which I found very satisfying. They do not have enough parking spots and you need to pay $20 a day to park in their spot otherwise use a garage next door which is $12 a day through public parking. I used a parking spot app to make my payments. The overnight parking is free but you need to make sure there is payment by 7:00 a.m. in the morning. The Metro was not close by about a 10 or 15 minute walk depending how fast you walk. It would have been nice to have a shuttle to the Metro but they do not provide that service. There is a gym but the treadmill did not work and there are only two other aerobic machines including a set of weights.

      The hotel advertises itself as "two blocks from the Metro station". Technically, it's true. What they don't tell you is that one "block" in Silver Spring is the equivalent of about 15 blocks anywhere else.

      Another annoyance is that their SEO company thought enough to write "MD Hotel near metro" in their title tag, but no one bothered to put any details on their "Directions/Transportation" page about which Metro stop it was near.

      Service at the front desk was pleasant and friendly but a bit slow. When I finally got my keys to my room, I went up and as I entered the room I got a huge whiff of thick cigarette smoke in my face that was competing for attention with the thicker whiff of hotel deodorant. I called the front desk and they were kind enough to put me in another room.

      I was happy to receive The Cookie and two bottles of water. However, the cookie had obviously been sitting there for a while. Worse, when I pulled one of the bottles out of the paper bag they gave me, along came a surprise--a creepy crawly centipede that flung itself right onto my laptop screen. It was just as shocked as I was, and we spent about 2 minutes staring at each other before I asked it to stay where it was, ran into the bathroom, grabbed a tissue, and squashed it, hoping that one of its 100 legs wouldn't be left wriggling on my laptop. Needless to say, that ruined my appetite for finishing the cookie.

      Room service was also nothing to write home about. The man taking the order asked whether I'd like fries or fruit with my order. I said fruit, and of course they gave me fries. At least I could work off the extra calories in the 30 minute walk the next day.

      Unhealthy accommodation for school tour group. 2 rooms did not have functioning toilets and the hotel would not address the problem. Their solution was to provide a keycard for an empty room so 8 girls could use a toilet for 2 days. Manager kept saying they would fix it the next day. Not true.
      Never fixed. After reading other reviews, this is a ongoing issue for this property for over a month.

      I'm sad to report that this Double Tree does not live up to its name. First when I checked in earlier this week it was great I was able to get room early but when I walked into my room I realized the other bed (2 double beds) had been used (wrinkled sheets and dirty pillow case). Both phones were dead and the heater was blowing hot air (it was turned down to 63 but still blowing hot air).

      I was so exhausted as I flew all night from the Pacific and didn't want to get stuck in the lobby but had to call. I was quickly moved one room down...this was a clean room which I was happy with. A day later I realized I forgot my jeans in the other room. I called downstairs explained what happened and waited,...and waited....no luck. Two days I have been trying to track down my jeans - no luck. Now I wore these jeans and hung them behind the door.

      Nothing...there's also no fridge in the room but they do have safes.

      This place gets 3 stars because the folks working the front desk are super friendly and are always smiling.

      This is the worst damn hotel I've ever been to in my entire life and I once had a hotel room without a freaking toilet. Been here one day. Here's what you have to look forward to during your exiting stay:

      1. Hotel keys don't work. Either the staff is to incompetent or their computer system doesn't work.

      2. Wanna call the front desk? You can't. The phones don't work.

      3. In the mood for a shower? The settings are ice and the sun. No in between.

      4. Parking garage is get to get your vehicle in, if your vehicle is a fiat smart car. Otherwise, your Sedan won't make it. God bless you if you have a truck. Might as well Sleep in it.

      5. Staff: Moronic. Isn't there a district manager who could fire them all and reset? Most of these people can't even talk, let alone run a business. The front desk FIGHTS are amazing though. Didn't know I paid for that. Everytime you go to the lobby.

      I wish I could take stars away and put x's in. This must be the signature for every illiterate staff member.

      Buy a tent and Sleep in the street for a better visit.

      Oh and they have one working elevator for 16 floors.

      Do not stay here, bugs were in my bed. After being bit and realizing I was in bed with bugs I showed a video and pictures of the bugs to receptionist and checked out early. Receptionist told me to email the general manager Ken Helmy, khelmy@thehotelsilverspring for him to refund me my money and make things right. He did not. Not only did he not respond to my multiple email follow-up messages, after I called weeks later to inquire why I have not heard anything, the receptionist changed her tune and told me "we do not have bed bugs,...the general manager said we do not have bed bugs." They may not consider them 'bed bugs' but there were definitely bugs in my bed, Ken Helmy did not even have the decency to respond to my emails or speak with me about my experience. So if he asks you to email him on these reviews, don't trust it. They don't care about you or your experience.

      Very small not upgraded bathroom. Black hair everywhere in the shower, I have gray hair so... no not mine. I have stayed at nicer Comfort Suites than this Doubletree. Not upto standard. We will see if their customer service reads or cares about customer reviews... kinda doubt it since the front desk staff didn't seem to have a clue or care enough to even be pleasant.

      Yeah, it gets worse... after leaving the first paragraph I went to get ice... the ice is only on floors 4 -8, wth??? And I walk in bare feet... now I need to wash my feet again.

      Super convenient to The Fillmore for events and concerts and such.
      The front desk staff was excellent, the room was clean and comfortable, and the valet parking option made us very happy.
