Don Tellos Tex Mex Grill

Me and my husband really enjoy Don Tellos, the food is seasoned and flavorful, we love the servers, especially Paola. She's great and super accommodating! The specials throughout the week are very reasonable, and it's a nice place to go for meal out! The drinks are great! Highly recommend the rainbow margaritas. And the carnitas plate is so good! We also like the fajita quesadilla and the chorizo dip!

Always a great experience at this location. Service- Jennifer is the BEST server/bartender ever!!
She's very attentive, quick when serving or bartending, professional and always smiling.

Ehhh...not really impressed!

Went here today, 11-28-2023 for lunch with my husband. First off, the health score was an 87...not bad, but not GREAT either! The hostess was eating lunch, which wasn't a big deal, b/c as soon as we approached, she came and seated us immediately.

Our waitresses...yes 2, b/c the primary waitress looked to be in training and also needed an interpreter, b/c she couldn't speak great English. But it wasn't bad.

I ordered the chicken taquitos. The chicken was kinda tough and not seasoned well, but the presentation was very pretty..pics attached. My husband got the large chicken nachos! And by large, I mean Gigantic! He should've gotten the small b/c it was a lot of food! He said it was good though!

I will add, that if you like sour cream and won't extra, please be aware that it's $1.30 for a side of it.... say what now!! I wish we would have known, b/c we would've told them to keep it. I mean, sour cream isn't an expensive product and for the life of me I can't seem to understand why restaurants charge an arm and a leg for a side of it...oh well, I digress!

Would I go back? Maybe, maybe not.

I'm a first timer here & it definitely won't be my last. I entered sober and left tipsy. Just how I like it. The food was very delicious & served well. But I did order more sauce & never got it... but it's okay , it was probably pretty busy in the back of the house!

We went with a small group that included children. We were immediately seated at a large table. We were given menus and drink orders taken. The waitress returned quickly with the drinks and orders taken. Food came out quickly. Most of us had some form of burritos. Kids menu had things on it kids would eat. Food was good. Service was quick. We were in and out fairly quickly, even with kids.

Food is good service ok but management could use improvement. The sent out chicken a shrimp fajitas with little to no chicken and it was good so I showed the manager he did have them bring more, but why did I have to ask. I asked for chicken and shrimp fajitas not mostly onion and pepper fajitas. After I enjoy small portion that honestly left me a little hungry I asked for my check. I only had club soda bc I don't drink any more and they had the nerve to charge me $2.99.i asked him was it topo Chico to somehow justify the price, although I saw no glass bottle with yellow and red writing in site and the bartender actually brought it from the back in the kitchen. He said no, it's $2.99 bc we have to pay for the co2 (bwahahahahaha) I thought he was playing he looked at me seriously to confirm that he was not playing. How dare they? I have never been to any establishment in Houston, Los Angeles, or Atlanta that has ever charged a customer for club soda or carbonated water. I told him it sounds like you need a new vendor because that's ridiculous to try to charge someone for your CO2 expenses. Now being a past Bartender, I know and everyone knows the guns are loaded with club soda and never in the history of ever has anyone demanded I paid 299 for such a thing. He wasn't trying to take it off the bill before, but I told him that I would be paying none of the bill if he didn't oblige as, if something of that sort which is water is going to be an additional charge it should be communicated. I find it ridiculous that this popular restaurant that always seems to be busy needs to price gout he took it off and I gave the three dollar tip to the Bartender as it belongs. On my way out he was greeting other guest goodbye, saying come back and see us before the words could even leave his lips. I told him and don't worry I won't be back. That's a dealbreaker for me.

I don't recommend Din Tellos. My review is based on the surly customer service. I came with my service dog and they made me feel very uncomfortable. I was not happy with the way my server slid my plate on the table. Maybe they felt some kind of way about my service dog? The food was ok, but not seasoned very well. My drink tasted syrupy as well. I told the manager that there was what looked like a toy under my table and maybe someone should pick it up. The manager corrected me and told me it was a napkin but when I walked past my table from the bathroom, the napkin was still there. I will not be back.

Not a good look Don Tellos. Don't take it for granted that people come to your business.

This place is horrible. I have been here for an hour and my waitress, Isabella, is horrible!!! We still haven't received our food and the people behind us who came in AFTER us had a different waitress and are now leaving because they got their food and left. That's how long we have been here with NOTHING!

UPDATE: I finally got my food. Isabella proceeded to tell us it wasn't her fault and the kitchen is normally fast and she made the guacamole and the drinks for us but the kitchen did the rest that's why it took us so long to get our meals. She said she's a really good waitress (no one asked, but she felt the need to defend herself because she knew she took way too long). I have to say the food was delish! I haven't really had Tex-Mex before. Being from California we have real Mexican food. So I ordered the Chimichanga with chicken, steak, and shrimp. My boyfriend had the steak (not pictured) and both were good. So they get half a star for good food and a negative star for bad service. I do not recommend this place. There's tons of good food in Atlanta with exceptional service, but this spot was not it.

The service could use some improvement. I went on a Saturday afternoon and they were moderately busy but not super packed so our party was seated right away. They provide chips for the table along with two types of salsa. The initial basket of chips was greasy and were crumbled so i asked the server for fresh ones. There was also an issue with the cleanliness of the restrooms they were below par and definitely needed to be tended to. Ordering our food too a little longer than desired as it too the server about 8-10 minutes to get our orders once we were ready. I ordered the Chimichanga with shrimp and steak and it also came with a side of rice and beans. My meal was decent, a good portion side and the streak was seasoned well in my chimichanga. My friends also enjoyed there meal overall.

Great, fast service. Good food. A regular for our family with small kids. More choices than most for vegetarians.
