Very cool place for kids and adults to do hands on activities. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was at full capacity. The bottom floor hosts the Bubble experience, which is a separate fee from the admission fee. You will also find other activities like laser tag. The second floor offers other activities like remote control robots, interactive hockey etc.
I ordered iced coffee from the cafe, it was okay- nothing special. A little overpriced to be honest.
Admission: Children under 2 Free. Children ages 3-14 $17, Adult Admission $22. You can also purchase yearly passes if you plan to visit more than once a year, I think the pass is worth it.
Parking: Available on site and across the street from the center.
Overall, it was a bit hectic like others have mentioned but what can you expect with a place full of kids with so much energy and excitement?! :)Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Sofia A.Santa Ana, CA0191Apr 26, 2024
I remember going here for a school field trip when I was younger.
They have core activities that have not changed, and they often bring new exhibits and activities. It is exciting enough for kids younger than 10 years old. The kids have a lot of fun while learning science. I've learned a few things myself by helping my daughter bond atoms :)
If you live in the O.C., this membership is worth it for the price.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 5, 2024
I wish we could say we had a blast at The Discovery Cube Orange County on our first visit. As you can see by the pics and videos, there were a few fun moments sprinkled in, but overall, it was such a letdown. It was ridiculously crowded. Some kids on Spring Break, I'm sure, but they also had field trip groups of kids. There was no management for the chaos either. I'm sure the place is way cooler when it's not so busy.
Waited forever for food at The Bean Sprouts Cafe, and when we went to order, I found out the GF crust substitute on the pizza is cauliflower... I'm not a fan. I was a little on the spot, so I just opted for some tater tots.
We tried to find somewhere to sit while waiting for our food. We were just going to eat standing up by the napkins table, but they opened another room for dining just as our food was ready.
Both orders of tots were undercooked, and they gave Xander something completely different than what he ordered. Luckily, he was willing to eat some of mommy's meal, so they just swapped. I think the guests' experiences would be greatly enhanced if they capped the number of people allowed in to start and hire more employees to direct kids AND ADULTS when it is so busy.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 11, 2024
The good:
The best part of this trip for myself and my 2-year old toddler was the sting ray and shark petting area. We also got to touch sea stars. Kids under 3 are free. This museum Is definitely geared for kids older than toddlers. Many of the exhibits my kid needed to be lifted up to see or it required reading. They have a food counter inside with a lot of seating. The workers were friendly and one even offered my kid a high five. The shopping grocery area was really cute and elaborate.
The bad:
I came on a Monday thinking I'd avoid a large crowd but there were several bussed full of school kids who were here for a field trip. We couldn't see the dinosaur outside. The door leading to the outside was closed. They were doing maintenance near the shark teeth case. The grocery carts were hard to push. It would've been funner if you could put the groceries into your cart. The movie for the hot air balloon simulation didn't play.
The interesting:
There's stroller parking by the gift shop. The foods sold here were some of the same menu items with cutesy themed foods like Santa Ana's zoo.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Feb 21, 2024
I wish this location was closer to where we live, but we try to go whenever we are around the area.
This museum is filled with so many great STEM and science activities for all ages! This place makes learning so much fun! This is not a museum that you just get to see and not touch, it's fully hands on! One thing that my family especially love about this location is their sea life center and outdoor play-area. The play area was closed down for remodeling last weekend.
One thing I also noticed about this location was the amount of employees walking around ready to help or answer any questions you might have. The one negative thing about this place is that you have to pay for parking. The location we usually visit has free parking. But in any case this location is worth the visit. Another thing I think it's good to know is that if you have a membership it includes both Discovery Cube location.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Mar 29, 20241 check-in
Being a gradfather of two boys, I find the Discovery Cube entertaining for the wee boys and hope to bring them here more frequently for their leaning experiences. I bout an annual pass for my daughter to bring the boys with dad on the weekends, and hope they have a chance to come when it's not as crowded. The types of displays use visual physics of air and space, and histreoical information about dinosaurs and other creatures. Although the oldest is only two, I think he will have another few years to enjoy this educational environment. We did take in the bubble show, which was entertaining and magical for the kids sitting on the floor level. I wonder what shows are planned for 2024?

I'm glad we had a discount for reciprocity from another children's museum. This is definitely not one for the younger crowd. Our 4 year old was not impressed. It felt like a center for older grade- school kids. We spent less than 20 mins walking around trying to find something engaging for a four year old and ultimately left. The saving grace was the pull back car track at the entrance.
Would save your money and time with kids under 5. Better of going to an indoor playground or amusement park nearby. If you have older kids, this place might be more educational and fun for 6-12?Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 6, 20241 check-in
Parking can be hard to find during holidays and when kids are out of school, they do have an overflow on the ither side of the street just need to cross the crosswalk. 2 floors of activities for children, some sections are closed/not working. But overall good spot for children to run around. We took my 6 year old niece and we spent about 4 hours here including eating. Also, you can bring in your own food/drinks which i wish we did because there's only 1 place to order food and pretty pricey for the portion they give out. Anyway, good place to check out for an indoor activity for the family

2nd year membership! Our kids love this museum so much we decided to renew our Family Membership. There are 2 floors of interactive stations for all ages. I love that they always have special limited exhibits to explore. My 12 and 10 year old boys love the bed of nails, the Raceway, Physics Lab Paper Airplanes, Science of Hockey and Eco Challenge: Discovery Market. Kids always look forward to having lunch at the Bean Sprouts Cafe; very healthy kid friendly options. We always make it a point to invite or bring family and it's always a hit!

I went on a Good Friday with my 2 nieces. For 2 adults, 2 nieces, plus parking it was $150 which is a lot. I've never been to the cube. They have a lot of interactive exhibits but the capacity is very limited. No one monitors how long kids do activities for which can be annoying if a kid is hogging something. We couldn't do too much since the activities had lines and it wasn't worth waiting. I think the cube is more enjoyable on a quiet day. Plus the exhibits weren't ideal for a 6 and 3-year-old.
We mainly went for Bubble Fest. I wish I could have just paid for that. The show was good for the kids. If you keep blasting bubbles at kids for them to pop, it's counted as an enjoyable time. The show members kept the kids interested with short segments showcasing their different tricks.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
