We arranged a full day private walking tour of Paris; our guide's name was Dominique. He was absolutely outstanding. Met us on time, was completely flexible on things we wanted to see and do. Very knowledgeable of history, venues, and Paris in general. He made sure we did not waste time in lines, and showered us with facts and interesting stories. It was a delightful day, I cannot say enough good things about our experience.

Just returned back to my apartment after taking the Montmartre, Paris, Discovery Walk with tour guide Camille. The tour was excellent. It lasted 1 1/2 hours just as promised. We explored many of the unknown streets and unknown sites of Montmartre. Once again, the tour guide Camille, was outstanding. She gave tremendous amounts of information but not too much information. This was an English language tour, with 15-20 people from several different countries. Gorgeous walking tour which gave us many ideas for restaurants & streets we will return to. The tour starts at Moulin Rouge & ends at Sacre Coeur. I highly recommend Discover Walks Paris!

I am so impressed with this company and their philosophy. It is a pleasure to get a customized tour with a real local. I ventured on 5 tours with this company while in Paris and I learned not only about the important hot spots of Montmartre, the Latin Quarter, and the Right Bank, but also quite a bit about the history and every day life.

Each guide has their own story and personality, but I had the pleasure of doing a paid street art tour followed by a free Latin Quarter tour with Victor who is top notch. All team members are great with people including the office staff who is very responsive and helpful over the phone and via email.

I like their business model and plan to support them in all cities I travel to. Thanks Discover Walks!

Discover Walks is an incredible way to see Paris! As most reviewers have posted, once you catch the bug, you can't do just one! They are quite addicting!

We participated in two (as we had a night tour with a professor from the University of Paris one evening...that was pretty spectacular too)! We toured the Latin Quarter/Left Bank and the Right Bank. Our guides were all wonderful, all of them! We had at least two guides on each tour and we were well entertained, as they made it fun (no boring, stodgy tours here)! Some things we visited: Notre Dame, a film house, a creperie, the University of Paris, the love locks, a famous book store, and the list goes on. We interacted with professors, children and the people of Paris indirectly on these walks, a more unique and local experience for anyone who wants to see more of the real Paris!

Upon our return to California we happened to find: Discover Walks San Francisco. The organization is growing in it's local flavor tours around the world!

Yes! I love this company. Often do I find when I do free walking tours, the tour guides aren't from the county or the area. These guides are, and have been living in Paris all their lives. My guide had studied abroad in Columbia , which I found awesome . They don't have a bunch to pick from , but do Montmartre if you're into art and culture and beautiful things. Wish I could have done more.

We booked a private 3.5 hour/half-day tour, initially vía Viator but when Viator needlessly cancelled our reservation, we booked directly with Discover Walks Paris, which i would recommend (cutting out the middleman). Antea was proactively communicative and responsive as we put together our desired itinerary and in helping to rebook our tour after the snafu with Viator. Mathieau, our tour guide, was amazing. He was polite, well-spoken, and extremely knowledgeable as well as focused on making sure we got to do everything we wanted, which we did. We began our day with a solid hour at the Louvre, hitting the main attractions (Mona Lisa, Venus di Milo, etc.) but also got in a lot more than I would have expected possible both in terms of viewing the collections and history of the Louvre itself. We followed this with a quick photo shoot and history at the Eiffel Tower. We ended our day with a wonderful and fact-filled tour of Montmarte replete with stories of the artists who have visited or taken residence in its storied studios, and culminating with an amazing view of and from Sacré-Cœur. I would highly recommend both Discover Walks Paris and our tour guide Mathieu.

Do you like the word "FREE"?

Me too! when I saw this eye-catching pink brochure at our hotel with the words "FREE guided tours of Paris" I said: "oh, this we have to see!"

It almost sounded too good to be true. No need to make any reservations, you just show up at the designated meeting place at the time mentioned and look for your tour guide who'll be wearing a pink shirt. Rain or shine, the tour goes on.

We already did a bit of exploring on our own, the day prior to showing up for the Left Bank tour and the meeting place was at the Opera House. They also have tours of Right Bank, Montmarte, Latin Quarter, etc.

We had a small group, only 6 people showed up, but I was delighted because our guide, Philippe (aka Bertrand) is a hoot! He spoke perfect English and was very gregarious. We came to find out that not only is he born and raised in Paris, but also lived in Los Angeles for 15 years.

He told us tidbits that only a real Parisian would know and he had a knack for telling stories. His funny anecdotes and even funnier personal stories are the things you wouldn't get from a run of the mill tour. JOIN Discover Walks tours -- it's only 90 minutes long but you would've gotten to know the city at a different level than if you've gone exploring by yourself!

For the Left Bank tour we visited: Jardin du Tuilliries, Opera House, walked around Rue St. Honore, Place Vendome and Place de la Concorde.

This tour is just splendid! I can't praise this company enough for doing free tours like this. (PLEASE tip accordingly!) Also at the end of the tour, he gives you a discovery walks "perks package", it has tips on saving time in Paris and even includes a river cruise coupon for only €4.50 (compared to other companies that were charging €12 up!)

      HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

      Holy crap this was good!
I used to have the mindset that good quality had to mean high price, but these "free walking tours" have proved me wrong. These tours are led by college/graduate school students who do this with a great deal of passion and panache. I am always impressed by the French cultural pride and these tours are way better than reading on tripadvisor online and wandering around alone. I think this is probably the best way to start out a trip in Paris!

Ophelia was an excellent guide for our tour of Montmartre. She was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. At one point we stopped outside of a bakery where she purchased baguettes for everyone to taste. She explained the importance of baguettes in French culture. Her educational background in art was to our advantage. Ophelia had a notebook of paintings by the artists who were inspired by Montmartre. She helped us understand more about these artists and their work. Thanks to Ophelia, we were able to imagine Montmartre in its early times and how it became a cultural center. Incidentally, we almost walked away before the tour began because so many people had showed up. Our group was still rather large after we were sorted into two groups. Ophelia handled our large group with no problem. We are so glad we took this tour!

I went on the Notre Dame tour and the Montmartre tour, and both were quite good. The tour guides really knew their information, and they offered quite a bit of help too. Definitely recommend if you're in Paris to learn more about the city and to add some depth in how the city became to be.
