Overpriced, non-supportive, and the owner is a liar. Definitely recommend you go to a different gym. It's in central Indiana.

After roughly 18 consecutive years of being loyal patrons, at the request of our 12 year old daughter, our family left DeVeau's School of Gymnastics. Our child was made to feel uncomfortable and unsafe by owner/operator, Luke Lautzenheiser. It's been a few months and she still cries daily. DeVeau's coins itself as "...your kid's HAPPY PLACE" but how is that the case when a child is bullied and retaliated against (by the new owner) at the only gym she's known since age 3?
This review is not to bash the gym but to share our heartbreaking experience. For my 12 year old child- it's about kids hearing the devastating voice of their peer and her inability to comprehend being bullied and retaliated against by an 'adult' at a place she once called her second home. For us as parents- it's about an unbelievable experience at a place we've loved, raved about and supported for many years and the continual mental trauma our 12 year old daughter suffers from months after making one of the hardest decisions of her little life.
DeVeau's isn't the same place it used to be. Now the new owner walks out on the practice floor to intimidate children during practice. It's a place where children who are learning/practicing skills that if not fully focused could potentially cause harm being put in the position to focus on- Is Mr. Luke going to approach me today and if so, when and where? That was our child's focus at practice even with parental support in attendance.
After giving notice, Luke still found a way to come after her by having his program manager attempt to keep her from competing at (what my kid calls "Big Kid's Nationals") USA Gymnastics Championships (although she qualified at her first competition) by failing to register her and not telling us until after the deadline. Yes, this happened at DeVeau's. Thankfully, a new gym (out of state) allowed her to join their team and they were able to get that corrected so she could practice and compete at Nationals. Sadly, this is the kind of retaliatory behavior that happens when a child doesn't agree to stay at DeVeau's once the gym owner apologizes after admittedly making her feel uncomfortable.
Unfortunately, there are no other trampoline and tumbling programs in the Indianapolis area so our daughter had to give up her dream of continuing the sport for her current safety. There are so many wonderful coaches at DeVeau's and they are the best part of the gym. Even with the traumatic experience our daughter endured, she does have many wonderful memories of her time with coaches she loves. Those experiences are the things we will cherish. Hopefully those memories will help her in her healing process.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jessica T.Fishers, IN2376724Feb 21, 2020
I have been really impressed since coming here for the mommy and me class with my 1.5 year old daughter. Mr. Troy is great and our daughter has an amazing time! I hope to continue classes as long as she is enjoying them which I think will be a while. Thank you Deveau's for making our Mondays so much fun!

Deveau's School of Gymnastics is the first place that I ever took gymnastics at. I was just 5 years old and loved every second of it. My mom said that I would not get ready fast enough and was looking for my coach before we where even inside. From what I can remember the coaches where fun and we learn a lot of stuff. I loved the fome pit and the harness that we got fly high in the sky. I remember being reeky good at cartwheels and summersault I would do them everywhere. Coach Lindsay was the best being 5 I just did not want to fall and hurt myself to the point that I had to sit out. I saw the big kids always getting hurt and having to take a break that was the worst. The gymnastics place was huge and was so colorful and inviting. IF you live in the Fishers area and want a safe happy place to send a child that loves to flip and jump then look no more. Go to Deveau's School of Gymnastics, the are Flipping awesome.

I cannot say enough good things about DeVeau's! We've been coming here since my now 4 year old was 2 and a half. We've done preschool gymnastics and the ninja class. We started before their remodel and it was already nice. I like the preschool room that they can use in the busier evenings and the Ninja Zone for the ninja classes is super fun too. For my son, the memory for what to do next in the circuits and the (minimal) waiting for his turn have been key in school preparation. I also like the attitude when my son tries something hard, they praise the effort which is great for a growth mindset. We've done open gyms at different gymnastics places around town and I think the DeVeau's facility is the best.
The instructors really seem to care about the kids and past instructors always say hi to my son and remember him even after not being in that instructor's class for a time. Obviously, we've not had all the instructors, but the ones we've had have been great. Also, the front desk is always super helpful and nice when I call or have questions.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kaitlin D.Aurora, IL14502May 3, 2018
I just wanted to come here and toot their horn for a second. My daughter has done both competitive and recreational gymnastics at DeVeaus. A recent renovation of the facility that has added more space, classes and programs for kids.
I must say, I really appreciate how the owner, Joan DeVeau, has a hands-on approach to coaching my daughter's level two competition team and is there at every practice and meet. My husband and I appreciate as well the overall professionalism of each one of her coaches. Overall- we are happy with our daughters technical progression. With that- as long as she enjoys coming here and competing at a high level- we will gladly pay!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kristin J.Noblesville, IN0227Nov 7, 2017
Things are really changing at DeVeau's. My son has been on the boys/mens team for 10 years now, and my daughter has taken recreational classes on and off. The building has been renovated and is amazing - from trampolines to Ninja equipment to a much improved parking lot. The new general manager, Luke, is committed to the safety and success of the kiddos. The coaching staff remains world-class, many of them having advanced degrees. The classes promote coordination, discipline, teamwork, and personal achievement. Miss Debbie at the front desk knows everything and is so helpful in navigating the class options. We are excited to continue at DeVeau's for years to come, and recommend this facility.

I signed my daughter up for a three year old class this winter and I have watched her confidence soar ever since. The coaching staff has been wonderful! They are so friendly and patient with all of the kids. I signed her up for another class and I am just waiting to sign up my youngest daughter for a class as well. I highly recommend Deveau's!

After having my 2 young daughters attend this gym for the past 2 years, I can say that we unfortunately feel like just a number. There are a couple coaches who deserve praise for how well they work with children (Mr. Kirk & Mr. Troy), but the majority of the teachers have room for improvement. Ms. Kim actually gave my 5 year old a "time-out" for doing a back walk-over when she was suppose to just fall flat on her back after doing a backbend. Ms. Shannon has a tendency to make kids sit around while she preps for the next activity (not the most effective action for 4-year-olds). After missing 6 practices last summer due to a family health scare, we never once received a call to make sure everything was ok; Deveaua's was just happy to have our $$. I would suggest finding a smaller, more personable gym who recognizes & appreciates your child(ren) and money.

My daughter recenty turned 6, and is enrolled in an invitation-only class at DeVeau's. She has only had Mr. Blaize for a short period of time, but she is making excellent progress with him. He seems to have a great rapport with all of the girls, and to really push them to their potential while still making it fun. He minimizes standing around time to keep them busy, and is very encouraging. He has an excellent resume to back up his experience: As a competitive gymnast himself at DeVeau's when he was younger, and then competing for The Ohio State University during his college years. I really can't say enough about how happy I am with her progress under his instruction!
