Ohhhhh, this was soooo bad! How do you make eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast taste terrible ??? All of them??
I thought a cheap 55+ breakfast was the way to go, but I paid twice what I expected by making the mistake of ordering an apparently $5+ glass of OJ! And it was bitter too!
It would have been a one star review, but the only employee I saw was pleasant and friendly. But I'll not make the mistake of going for cheap again cuz you apparently CAN screw up breakfast!

PITIFUL... I walked into this restaurant around 2:45 PM and the man that seated me just pointed to a booth near the kitchen, I sat down, waited for about five minutes, and no one ever brought me a menu or came to my table. This waitress put in an order for over five minutes at the front and never acknowledge me either, but someone walked in and she gave her a menu! WTF? I see why this restaurant has horrible reviews. I will never be back.
      Good riddens!

      Different Denny's (2 of 2)

I was on a flight where the schedule kept getting shifted and for which I had to overnight at DFW. The flight was a redemption of Alaska Airlines miles and they're partnered up with American, hence the connection at DFW. This required that I overnight in this area and do it as cheaply as possible, since it was a layover and not a visit.

I found such a hotel. Also, I needed to eat before turning in. Like a mirage, this Denny's bright yellow sign was glowing at me from right across the street. Denny's has usually been reliable to fill up the tank ... until now.

I walked over there, noticing the large, flat Texan streets with the swales next to them to collect a lot of rain when there's a downpour. I was seated in this clean but standard looking Denny's that was not at all busy, was given a menu, and had to figure out what to order.

In short order, the server came to the table and took my order: a grilled cheese sandwich with fries and decaf coffee. The server was very pleasant in that relaxed Texan sort of way. After about 20 minutes, I flagged her down to ask her about the status of my order. She went over to the kitchen to check, then out toward the entry to talk to someone, and this individual, the apparent manager on the shift, came over to tell me that the order hadn't even been started and he would cook it himself. He did and the grilled cheese and fries arrived.

I finished the sandwich and fries, which were fine, and then kept sitting there drinking my coffee. Another 20 or so minutes went by, and, with an almost empty restaurant, I was wondering why no one had checked in on me. I've rarely had this happen before ... anywhere. Again, I had to flag down an employee to get the check.

In short, ordering, eating, and paying for a grilled cheese sandwich and fries at this Denny's amounted to about an hour. I joke around that, when people aren't with the program, they must be on intravenous demerol. I know that wasn't the case. I will dole out 2 stars for the 2 words:

      Stunatu* Denny's ... or Stunad* Denny's

      * this is an expression used in Italy, albeit in the country's south and via regional dialects. Stunatu (with an atypical "u" ending) would be Sicilian and stunad (seeming almost vowel-less as it trails off) would be from around Naples, and could also be "shtunad," since some of them do that with their s's. It means that something is out of tune and, in slang, usually means that someone is an airhead or something is in need of a tune-up.

Because the Super Slam is being featured this month, I had one today at about lunchtime at a Denny's far away from DFW. It was tasty, filing, a good value, and the experience from arriving to paying was seamless. That said, I'm still wondering what the deal was here that evening.

View from where I was seated toward the front of the restaurant. It wasn't that crowded.
View from where I was seated toward the kitchen and counter area. It was clean.

Fast and friendly service. I stayed at the Westin across the street and craved some breakfast and went there for a good meal. Maria was the server and was very friendly and fast.

The service is really bad and you can tell they're really short staffed with not many workers. The hostess doesnt help either and my friend and I felt bad that she kept yelling at a young kid bossing him around. The way she was talking to him just wasnt right.

Our waitress took forever to get to our table and I get it.....she's busy but at least give us some water if you're going to make us wait like 20 minutes until you finally get to us. My friend wanted to get one of the avacado burgers.....No avacados....or mustard.

Our waitress didn't even bother to check up on us to refill water and only came to just give us our check.

I would say if this was your only food option to just place an order to go.
