I discovered Denny's when I went to university in Manchester and there's no place I would rather go to get my haircut.
I travel from Chorley every time I need my hair cutting because I get such amazing service every time. I have never had a bad haircut here.
Located less than 10 minutes walk from the city centre yet they don't charge city prices. There are a number of stylists available but I have only ever been to the owner Denny.
You will be guaranteed great service and a nice chat with styles that are upto date with latest trends and fit your personal requirements.
They always have local students studying and getting experience of working in a salon so they even give back to the community and help up and coming stylists.
I highly recommend Denny's as the place to go in Manchester to get your hair styled. 8 years of visits and always a stylish cut and never a bad one. Can't argue with those numbers.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Jan 6, 2014Previous reviewI only ever used to get my haircut in the same place in Chorley. My brother introduced me to Denny's hairdressing when I was at university and I have never looked back since.
Even though I live in Chorley and have to travel 30-40 minutes to get here it is totally worth it. I am always made to feel welcome by all the staff and Denny is a genius with hair ... Including my uncooperative hair.
The atmosphere is always relaxed, even when they are run off their feet, and you will always get the best haircut you could ask for. I always take my own drink in with me but I am also always offered one.
The conversations are always thoughtful and intelligent and I hope to be able to go here for my haircut for a. Wry long time. - Alfie B.Manchester, United Kingdom89689682Mar 13, 2010First to Review
My housemate uses Denny for all her hairdressing needs and always speaks highly of it. A quick look at their website tells you that it's a pretty serious hair dressing business, which prides itself on both unique and traditional styles. However, it doesn't cost a bomb.
Its around £25 for a standard trim, and you get it a bit cheaper on your first visit. There's also a student discount. They have a wide range of specialists and some are cheaper than others. They also do blokes hair for as little as £12.
Inside its sheek and shiny, with a large bright sign and colourful interior, making your hair dressing experience feel that little bit more trendy.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Rachael T.Manchester, United Kingdom84118330Nov 25, 2013
With so many hairdressers in Manchester it's difficult to decide which one to go to. I've been going to Denny's for several years now and do like going there that staff are really friendly and chatty and the atmosphere is relaxed. The salon is also reasonably priced at £30 for a cut a blow dry its great value.
I always get a good cut there Denny's knows my hair and doesn't try to go all creative on me (unlike a few hairdressers I've visited in the past which has resulted in sulking and hair being worn up until the "creativity" has grown out!) so i come away feeling happy and pampered which is how you should after a hair cut.
They do brazilian blow drys which I'm going to give a go on my next visit as my hair doesn't like winter or rain!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jessica H.Manchester, United Kingdom3497371789Nov 4, 2013Updated review
So, I'm still on my quest for the perfect haircut. After spending a fair few pounds at Razors Edge for my last chop, I headed back to Denny's on Saturday - I needed somewhere where I didn't feel the need to dress up just to get my hair cut. Clean lines and shiny surfaces are great, but sometimes you just want a laid back atmosphere and some light chit chat.
My hair was super grown out, but Michael remembered how it was supposed to look (despite me not visiting since February/March time), and sat me down for a short consultation before getting on with the cut. He kept me updated throughout my time in the chair on what he was doing, giving me a few tips on the best products for short hair and the best colours for people with my skin tone.
For £30, I was happy - and still am (which says alot!)Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Feb 17, 2013Previous reviewOn my seemingly never ending hunt for a haircut I actually like and am happy to pay for, Denny's place was next on my list. After spotting it a few times when travelling to and from work I gave it a quick Google and was pleased to find an easy to use website with lots of information on pricing and the different stylists, especially as they have sections on their favourite hairstyles and fashions, giving you an idea of whether you're going to the right place - luckily for me, I was! Lots of short hairstyles were listed, giving me faith that they would understand my need for a particular style and almost too-short cutting in order for it not to grow out immediately.
I rang on a Wednesday to book in, very last minute, but was offered an appointment that afternoon. In my experience they get busy after work hours, naturally, but during the day they seem able to squeeze you in. I was booked in with Michael and, upon arriving from the snow & sleet of Manchester, my coat was taken and I was directed to a chair for a quick consultation before any cutting or washing began. Already I felt at ease as Michael quickly started playing with my hair, checking my layers and heaviness, talking to me throughout and allowing me to explain what I wanted as opposed to telling me what I needed. Whilst getting my hair washed I was introduced to Denny, a lovely man who hates Facebook but loves Inland Revenue repayments, and then sat down again for the cutting to take place. Michael talked to me throughout the cut, informing me what he was doing at each stage, which was reassuring as hairdressers often leave you in the dark when it comes to the use of scissors. We discussed everything from my worst haircut to what the word glamour really means.
The atmosphere at Denny's is friendly and relaxed without any of the snobbery or style above substance found in many inner city salons. Easy access and affordable. I left with a smile and didn't wash my hair straight away when I got home - the sign of a great cut, - Qype User (Lyri…)Bolton, United Kingdom29184Nov 17, 2008
I was working about 5 minutes walk from here. I'm not a regular hairdresser user as i change my hair way too often so I tend to go wherever takes my fancy and can fit me in. I'd just split up with my long term partner and as you do, decided i needed a change.
The salon itself is no-frills but I like it that way as it came across as unpretentious relying on sheer results rather then some glitzy image. You enter on street level and descend downstairs to get to the salon, it's painted brick walls and pictures of real people on the walls, it's windowless and quite urban in feel.
I got exactly what I asked for..most of the length gone and pale blonde so i could later go pillar box red. The cut and shape was superb, no weird stuff going on that i didn't ask for and he even added free highlights because he wasn't satisfied it was light enough! (went from dark to all blonde so not the easiest task) I was made to feel like i was the centre of their focus and attention, I hate it when you go into salons and you have different people doing different thongs and then you're just left until it's ready to rinse out etc, i love the consistency of care and service you get st Denny's.
Okay so it was expensive.but it's a decent city centre salon and well worth it and it was a 'treat' for myself.
I'd recommend this place to anyone, especially if you're after a drastic change and want a sympathetic, attentive and creative place to do it.
The only reason I'm giving this 4 and not 5 stars is purely price related.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (cherry…)Manchester, United Kingdom1391Nov 28, 2007
Once you find a good hairdresser, you never let them go.
This is how I feel about Denny's Hair Salon. In a time where city centre hairdressers have slick interiors and a large range of products for purchasing, Denny's sticks to the basics. The interior is simple, and all over the walls are photos of guys and gals who had had their hair cut by the stylists in the salon.
And there is no hard sell on any products. There aren't any hidden extras for "treatments".
More importantly than any of that, head stylist, Denny, is the man if you want a truly haircut that suits you, and is more than just a trim and layers. He will spend as long as it takes to make the cut look perfect, and the colourists are also excellent, and they take the time to do creative colour techniques (if you want it!).
There is normally a special offer if you are a new customer too! Highly recommended!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sireetorn K.Leigh, United Kingdom161Jan 22, 2015

Found this place by luck on the internet and tried it out last weekend - full head of higlights & cut & finish. Really pleased with the result! The hairdresser advised me on what she thought would be good colours as I had had a bad experience of highlights, and I ended up having lowlights which I had never thought of, and this was only an extra £5. The result was great, very natural, blonde colour. The cut was perfect too. The price of the whole thing was such good value compared to other places I've been which charged far more with a disappointing outcome! Will definately go back.
