Quite bad.
You can do better. There are a number of places to stay with 1 mile which are both similarly priced and much better to stay at.
Mind you, this is just the review of a one night stay, and is particular to my room.
Short review: Good for overnight stay if that is your desire. Lacking on amenities, but slightly better than staying in your vehicle.
Full review:
Door sticks badly. Try opening it when you have coffee with no lid in your hand.
Carpet leading to first floor rooms is stained.
No carpet in the room and the bed is high. Getting into bed with socks on might be tricky.
TV: must point the remote at the TV for nearly all functions except the remote must be pointed at the small cable box to operate channels/guide. Not located together. TV does not swivel.
Room phone had a message on it which was just some background country music playing on and on. Front desk error?
Thin walls: was able to hear most activity on all sides.
Toilet seat support slightly damaged: did not impact use nor comfort.
Shower water control: most positions cause a loud whine/screech sound. Hard to find a comfortable temperature which does not come with that sound.
No washcloths. Provided were one bath mat, one bath towel, one regular towel, and two hand towels. Also: body soap bar, with small bottles of conditioning shampoo and body lotion.
Bed was well made and comfortable to lay on and sleep in. did not inspect mattress.
Wifi is available.
Air Conditioner is up to the task. It kept the room at a comfortable temperature, but was a little loud. Not loud enough to wake me from sleeping. Air conditioner filter was dirty. Had to clean it before operating.
Front desk staff speak softly/mumble. They might not be native English speakers. Had to speak twice to make myself understood most times.
Breakfast options: juices, milk, and regular coffee. Powdered creamer and sugar. No coffee lids.
To eat for breakfast: two kinds of cereal, frozen corn dogs and breakfast sandwiches (from bulk store), yogurt, biscuits/gravy, bagels and bread, oatmeal packs. Some fruit is available.
I opted for a frozen breakfast sandwich and a coffee. Both were dissatisfying. Will get breakfast after checkout later.
NOTE: no scrambled eggs, no bacon, no bacon on the frozen sandwiches.
For the same price, I have stayed at other places in Pierre and gotten a much better breakfast selection.
In room: small microwave, coffee maker (only decaf was provided), and small fridge available in room, along with desk, upright chair, and one easy chair. Plastic notification card was found behind the dresser. Thankfully, the dresser is lightweight. Also found other trash left behind the dresser. Looked like a lozenge or candy.
Clothing hang-up area is located between the bed an the wall. Hope you don't have many clothes to hang up nor use that side of the bed. Iron/ironing board available in room.
As stated before; for the same price, there are places to stay which are cleaner, have more amenities, and provide for their guests better.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dale T.Lennox, SD22944Mar 27, 2022
Absolutely FILTHY! The tile floor, the mold over the shower, the urine stained sheets!
Even the common areas were a mess. There was dried cola(???) on the tile near the ice machine. Hallways hadn't been vacuumed in a long while. I would have given a zero if I could!
I got in town late, the organization that brought me there had already paid for that night so I stayed. Checked out first thing in the AM and got a different room for the rest of my stay.
3 months after my stay, a murder occurred...

I stayed here in 2015 and it was nice back then. That is why I told the group I was there with it would be OK. They didn't know how bad it was nor did I
STAY AWAY!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Trevor M.Midland, SD047Sep 7, 2020
DO NOT STAY HERE. Not sure when the floor was vacuum cleaned. Crumbs and hair in beds, beetles that patrol the floor. Lights that work are hit and miss. Food from previous guests still in microwave. I will never put my family through this again.

All right, the place is absolutely A-OK!
First, five stars for the front desk staff and housekeeping. Both were polite and quick with helpful recommendations in the area.
My room was clean and generally comfortable (pics uploaded). Easy, free wifi. Subway right next door. I only made it to breakfast on one day, but the biscuits and gravy were great! They've also got a few other options - mostly carbs. I sure would have appreciated it if they offered hair conditioner. It's shampoo only here, ladies - make note!
If you're here with friends, walk towards the back of the hotel and enjoy a beer or three while you sit by the fire pit. Nice touch, Days Inn.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Stephanie L.Hot Springs, SD1316Feb 1, 2018
You never know with these budget hotels, but the Days Inn in Pierre wasn't bad, and I'd stay there again. Room was clean, bed was comfy, staff was nice, and nothing was out of order. Had no need to ask for staff assistance for anything- was able to check in easily, settle into my room, and go right to sleep.
I will say that you can hear most of what's going on out in the hallway (bring earplugs), there's not much counterspace on the sink (so forget spreading your makeup out), and breakfast left much to be desired (carb heavy, empty fridge where yogurts were supposed to be, dirty dishes and tables...), so I knocked off a star.
But I'd stay here again. It's a perfectly decent hotel for a quick overnight for doing business in Pierre.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brie P.Santa Clarita, CA2505317Jul 27, 2020
For such a quality company, our stay was less than ideal. I tried to consider the tough times but I couldn't get past how unacceptable the hygiene of the room was. There was dust on the perimeter of the floor (as if someone quickly vacuumed after a period of vacancy), blood stain on the bedding, finger smudges on the headboard, and grime in the toilet and sink. I would expect during covid the room would be spotless with deep cleaning. I wouldn't have even minded that the light switch didn't work and the bugs got from outside, but the lack of cleaning pushed me over the edge during a global pandemic. I would have left to find somewhere else to stay if I didn't just drive for over 12 hours and it wasn't midnight.

Small hotel in a small cozy town. One night stay in the Capitol of South Dakota. There are not much selections of accommodations in this town. However, this Days Inn, meets the general requirements of a quality stay. The room and bed are clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and accommodating to give you information on the local scene. The morning breakfast is general but does the trick until lunch. The bathroom is the smallest I have encountered but clean and neat. So overall with that said it's a overall nice place to lay your head for the night. No issues and would recommend.

I was in SD for business, and didn't know where to stay. This hotel was clean, but very basic. The beds were very firm, and the rooms were very small. The staff was friendly and it's nicely located on the main strip of Pierre, but you have to walk or drive to get anything to eat! There's a Best Western down the street, on the river that has all the amenities one would want when traveling (pool, bar, restaurant...) Much more luxurious...if you will!

The staff was very nice. As noted in other reviews the rooms are pretty small, however they are nice and clean. The breakfast in the morning is pretty basic including cereal, biscuits and gravy and a few other options. Nothing extravagant, but it's free! The rooms include a microwave, small fridge, coffee maker, mall desk, a recliner, and of course a bed. I found that the rates were competitive (actually cheaper) than most of the other places in town. I didn't have any bad experiences, so I would definitely recommend this place to others!

Stayed there while attending a youth convention. Rooms were clean. Staff was courteous. We would stay there again when visiting Pierre.
