Great spot for yummy Himalayan food. Cute little restaurant with seating indoors and outdoors. Cozy atmosphere, great spot for a date night or a smaller group of friends. I came with a larger party and it surprisingly worked out well. There weren't many other customers so I didn't feel as though we were bothering other diners. There's a good selection of drinks that we started off with and then the our food came out all at once (which was great since we shared them all).
We ordered a ton of items from the Himalayan side of the menu:
- Beef Momo, Chicken Momo, Vegetable Momo: we ordered one of each flavor of momos and they were delicious! Juicy filling, skin was a little thick but not bad, and they were on top of an tomato sauce.
- Chicken sekuwa: chicken skewers paired with black lentil pancakes. I've never had pancakes like this before but they were mild in flavor so it worked well with the chicken. Chicken was overall just okay.
- Laping: mung bean noodles in a chili sauce. Reminded me of a szechuan cold dish. The texture of the mung bean noodles is fun to eat.
- Shabaley: beef patties inside of a fried dough that was very thin. One of my favorite things we ordered. The savory juicy meat was nicely seasoned and the crunch factor of what it was fried in was a great contrast.
- Tsel-Baley: the vegetable version of the previous item. Instead of beef, it was mainly chives. It reminded me of the Chinese chives pocket which I love.
- Stir Fry Noodles with Vegetables: simple stir fry, almost like their take on lo mein. Nothing special about it.
- Bara with egg: it's a thick lentil pancake and certainly was thick. The egg didn't stand out much and overall didn't have any strong flavor but I still liked it.
- Chili Cauliflower: fried cauliflower in a chili sauce paired with wild rice. It's fried well, not many pieces of cauliflower, chili wasn't too spicy.
- Jhasha Katsa: fried chicken in a chili sauce similar to the cauliflower dish. It was paired with a steamed bun that reminded me of a Chinese mantou. The bun was soft and fluffy, perfect for dipping in the sauce.
Overall, a solid meal. I got to try many things that I've never had before and each one had unique flavors of its own. Almost all the dishes had sauces paired with them which was interesting. Portions are on the smaller side for majority of the items but I'd definitely recommend ordering several things to share so you can try as many things as possible.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Apr 13, 2024
what a COLORFUL lunch spread!! this spot is so cute and love all the various options
the food: there's two menus, one that's american brunch style and ones that's tibetan!! i personally loved the kale salad, it comes with housemade ricotta cheese and rhubarb jam - truly divine. momos were ok and the meat on the platter was slightly too salty for me
the space: huge and so adorb with many plants
service: attentive! and kindHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 18, 20241 check-in
Chicken momos had excellent consistency and sauce was a pleasant blend of flavor. The samayabaje was a little over abundant with the beaten rice and additional medley of fiber rich carbs, but was good. Chana and gwaramari was itself a good balance of brunchy items.

**Delivery Review**
Was at a nearby bar, so it was a good opportunity to get some lunch delivered on a Saturday afternoon. Past the brunch portion of the day, so settled on their normal selection.
Opted for the Pork Chili ($15) to go along with the Tingmo bread (?). Pork belly served in a soup canister - lots of chunky meat swimming in a watery broth. Spice is mild at first but slowly heats up as you're eating. The bread is easy to rip and soaks up some of the broth. The meat is mostly fatty and will disintegrate if leaving in the broth for too long.
Delivery was within the window and all items stayed intact by the time it arrived. Overall not bad for delivery, just wish the quantity was more for the price.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 27, 2023
After my friend moved into the neighborhood, we were looking for places to eat and decided to give Dawa's a try. Dawa's is a super cute, cozy restaurant offering authentic Himalayan dishes. We had both never tried Himalayan before so we didn't know what to expect. We've done take out and dined here before and the food has been great for both!
So far, I've tried their French toast, buttermilk chicken sandwich, momos, thenthuk, and bara. Everything has been pretty tasty, with the standout, for me, being the bara & momos. They use fresh, locally farmed ingredients and their portions are decent (not too big, not too small). Service is a little slow but the staff is super friendly. Lovely spot - definitely add it to your bookmarks.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 6, 2023
Tranquil and intimate atmosphere with a dash of a semi-upscale vibe. The music was soft with a slow beat. The lighting was comfortably warm. The staff here were hospitable and attentive. Their menu is a mixture of contemporary Tibetan and American cuisine.
We had the beef momo (4/5). It was succulent but lacked seasoning. The beef shabaley (3.5) was also very juicy, but the dough was too chewy. The stir fried noodles (4/5) was delicious and smokey, with a medley of ingredients. The chicken sekuwa (3.5/5) was grilled rightly but quite bland. I love the presentation and execution of technique, but some of the dishes could use more salt to draw out the flavor.
Overall, it was a decent dining experience and I would recommend it to anyone.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Feb 27, 2023
Dawa's is great! Good food and a lovely ambiance with slightly upscale vibes to contrast with the more casual/lowkey Himalayan joints in the area.
We had a reservation for 3 on a Saturday night. The place was busy but not packed.
We ordered: Veg momo, chicken momo, tsel-baley, chili cauliflower, and riki kur. Everything was tasty and flavorful. It was my first time having tsel-baley and riki kur and I recommend trying both.
We ordered exclusively from the Himalayan menu, but there's American offerings as well.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Sudeep U.Flushing, NY31419Apr 15, 2023Updated review

Himalayan Brunch is a vibe you can't often find in many cities so take advantage of it! Himalayan flavors tend to be milder than what you might be used to from the surrounding countries, but they do a great job with their herbs.
Overall the dishes here were pretty good and fresh on their own, but don't sleep on the sauces because they take everything to the next level.
The momos in particular were nicely steamed, in a red sauce that wasn't spicy and kidn of tomatoey. Dill decorates it for a fresh flavor you might not be used to with dumplings
RIKI KUR was a favorite and was kind of like a potato pancake. Yummy. Would get again. The green sauce brings the heat.
SHABALEY - freshly fried dough surrounds meat and comes with great sauces to pair with. The red sauce was tangy, bright and delicious.
CHILI - this was just ok, but the bread that comes with it comes with a man tou like bread if you're familiar with that from Chinese cuisine but also like a wheat version of it which was really cool and haven't had before. The chili itself wasn't too spicy and the meat was tender.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Victoria W.New York, NY61194111Jan 24, 2023
Dawa's is intentional. Music is at a reasonably low, calming volume. The lighting is low but not dim to for that warm, relaxed feeling. The interior decorations reflect Himalayan culture. It's clear each piece of the decor was thought out carefully. They strive to be environmentally conscious by using locally farmed ingredients thus supporting local farmers.
Staff is friendly. Food is amazing! They have an American menu and a Himalayan-inspired menu. But if i were you, I'd go for the Himalayan-inspired menu as it is authentic. The salt tea is an interesting choice of drink and some people may not like it, but it's worth trying once. We always get the vegetarian mono dumplings and house salad salad. They're our staples. And then we try a new dish each time with our staples.
This place is a hidden gem considering it's never super busy when I go there. I hope it stays thatHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
