Q:
What is the pool temperature for the indoor water park area? Trying to figure out if it's cold like the lap pool or if it's warmer and a comfortable temperature for kids. Thank you!
A:
It's slightly warmer than the lap pool. My elementary-age kids do fine. My toddler is usually shivering after about 20 minutes and asks to get out.

We had the opportunity to have my son Noah's second birthday party here at cub, run recreational center this past Saturday. We had checked it out a couple months ago, and he absolutely loved it!
Leading up to the party, we were helped every step of the way! Makiya is so amazing at her job and did a fantastic job communicating with us and giving us all the information we needed. All of her staff are so amazing as well! On the day of the birthday party it went so well! All the kids had so much fun, swimming and playing in the indoor waterpark, and the adults had fun too, with the huge waterslides and hot tubs.
Once we made it to the birthday party room, we continued the fun and had mellow mushroom pizza per recommendation as well as cake, and a great time celebrating. We would certainly recommend this for any birthday parties, especially if indoors needed, and would love to come back for another birthday party in the future!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 8, 2024
With Cub Run Rec Center around who needs Great Wolf Lodge?
Cub Run Rec Center offers an indoor water playground that is enjoyable for children of all ages featuring a zero depth water entry, lazy river, water slides, water cannons, water vortex, and sprays. They even have a sauna!
This is not a resort by any means but it is a great way to entertain kiddos on a cold, winter day and get some wiggles out. The locker room is clean and well-kept and they even have a family changing room which comes in so clutch for my husband and my daughter.
The total cost for an afternoon of fun is approximately $40 for a family of four, which is a total steal. Add in a trip to the nearby Chick-fil-a and you are in kid heaven.
They also host birthday parties for a fraction of the cost of places like Chuck E. Cheese or Scramble.Helpful 12Thanks 2Love this 6Oh no 0 - Dec 4, 2023
Cub Run has a great little indoor "waterpark " plus a hot tub for adults (16+) and is very affordable. For myself, an under 2, and an over 48" child, it was $20, and that is for the day.
There is a playground in the shallow area with two identical slides perfect for my 20 month old. There are also plenty of bubblers and sprayers in that area too. In the deeper area is a small lazy River with a few water features, including a water arch tunnel. There's also a whirlpool that the kids loved. There are two large slides for those over 48 ". One even goes outside the building. The water is tolerable, but I appreciated access to the hot tub for a few minutes during the hourly lifeguard break. Life jackets and puddle jumper's are available if you forget yours.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Lee S.GA, GA071Dec 29, 2023
Excellent facility! Much better equipment
than any fancy gym. Nur is the most helpful, kind employee!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brenda K.Lorton, VA19Apr 6, 2023
Today I visited Cub Run Rec center with my sister and our boys. Because of spring break there were a lot of swimmers so a wait list was enforced at the entry door. We were told there was about 20 min wait. Completely understandable! We waited patiently as we see swimmers exit the building, after school care groups left, etc. After 45 minutes we saw some of the people before us happily being called. We decided to ask how many more people ahead of us and one lady rudely replied "I don't know" while the lady next to her said 2 people as she looked at her list. I thanked her because she had a friendly demeanor unlike the other one. Unfortunately, the impatient lady probably got upset and the whole room cleared as she called their names and even looked at me. Once we realized everyone was called except us we decided to join the line and go in ourselves.
To add fuel to the fire, we waited on top to watch our 10 year old boys while they swam below us for a bit. After 30 minutes they NEVER called our names. We didn't have to give them our names when we paid only for the wait list. She was clearly upset. But if you're going to work in customer service you need to be patient and you need to have a friendly demeanor no matter how YOUR day is going. She is a 50+ year woman; no excuse. I'm a 46 year old woman I know.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Alyssa J.Vienna, VA22136104Dec 3, 2022
This place is such a gem!! We brought our kids here for a day of swimming during the winter and they all loved it.
There is no longer the playground in the shallow area (they've removed it), but still fun!
They have water slides for bigger kids & adults, a small lazy river, some water features, and a vortex with the open swim area too.
There's a hot tub but you must be 16 years+.
A day pass also gets you access to the rest of the facility, not just the pool.
There's restrooms, lockers, and floatation devices. Outside there's a playground and picnic tables too!Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0 - Brian K.VA, VA0254Apr 11, 2023
Gym is fantastic and has a lot of machines for a great workout. Pool with slides and lazy River is awesome
NOTE: Can get busy on weekends with tons of 4th grade birthday parties. Mid day weekends are full on birthday parties, angry moms, bored dads and tired out toddlers.
Not much food choice here other than vending machines so bring your own sandwich and drink if you need to eat.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jennifer S.Washington, DC010Sep 9, 2023Updated review
I'm updating since we had our party. It was very inexpensive, which was great, and the kids had a lot of fun. There were a number of parents who went down to the pool to watch their kids or help them change, and we didn't get charged for those parents. I do wish they'd update their policy to reflect this, because as it is now, it depends on who's working that day and whether they decide to be strict about charging for each person. I suppose if you get a different staff member, it could end up being expensive, so it's kind of the luck of the draw. For us, everything worked out great, and we had a fun party for about $300.

The pool is fun for kids, and the lessons have been pretty good. I agree with other reviewers that the cleanliness in the bathrooms could be better. We've had mixed experiences with staff. They're not always in a good mood. I just steer clear. For those with elementary kids, be aware that they have to be 48" to get the wristband for the water slides. The staff are inconsistent about this, so we've had times where both of our kids got the big wristband, and then other times where one or both will be told they're not tall enough. The employees absolutely will not budge on this, so we've left with kids in tears more than once. How are we supposed to explain to them that they used to be tall enough for the water slides but this time they're not? Overall, though, I'd say our weekend pool visits have been fun, and it's a good deal compared to other activities we could be doing.
What really made me want to write a review after using Cub Run for so long was my ridiculous experience trying to book a birthday party room. There's no way to book online, so you just put in the date you want and send it to them. After that, things get silly. A woman responded fairly promptly offering me a time on the date I requested. (Yay!) I responded to her that I'd like to book. Then she wrote back asking if I want only the room or also pool time. I responded .... I won't bore you with every single detail, but I've now been exchanging one-line emails with this lady for close to a week. Finally, she told me that we have to schedule a time to go over the contract. (Why? I can read a contract for a 1-hour party room rental and sign it.) So I suggested a time. She wrote back that she's not available, but did not suggest an alternate time (?!!!). So I wrote back asking when we could go over the contract. We're actually going to be at Cub Run for a class this weekend, but she won't be there, and apparently no one else on staff can go over this contract with us. Instead, she offered one and only one time, which is inconvenient, but I'm going with it because I can't handle exchanging another 20 emails with this lady. All this to say, if you want to book an event at Cub Run, start early and be prepared to engage in a long and drawn-out process of pointless emails. It's almost like they don't want people to book the rooms.
I don't know yet how this part will turn out, but their party rules allow for 12 guests, and then you pay extra above that. They specifically stipulate that anyone going down to the pool counts as a guest, so you can imagine how a reasonably priced party could become very expensive if they're charging you for every parent who goes down to sit on a bench and watch their kid swim or help their kid change. (We've had a similar experience when we swim on weekends. Why do they charge parents money just to supervise their children? Even if you're not swimming, you have to pay.) Anyway, one friend who hosted a party at Cub Run said it wasn't a problem and she thought her party ended up being a good price. Another friend said her party ended up being almost as expensive as Launch or one of the other play places because of all the charges they added on for parents going down to the pool. You can imagine how this could get out of hand - 1 birthday kid, 1 sibling, birthday kid's parents, 4 child guests, 4 guest parents (to supervise their young kids in the pool) and you're already at the limit. so a 12-person party really only has 4 child guests. If you then invite 5 more kids and each has a parent with them, now you're being charged for 10 guests over the limit (5 kids, 5 parents). Also considering that Cub Run parties don't include food, whereas most party places do, I'm concerned that it's not going to end up being as good a deal as it first appeared. Once we've had our party (if we ever manage to reserve the room), I'll update this review with a ballpark price. - Julie E.Chantilly, VA09Jul 29, 2022
Too crowded for me. I went at 2pm on a Friday and thought I could have a peaceful swim in the pool. Every lane was taken and part of the pool was closed off for classes. The leisure pool was crowded too. There were also tons of schoolkids everywhere. Must have been multiple summer camps or something going on, but this isn't a place I would want to go as an adult who doesn't have kids and just wants to swim laps and keep in shape. Also at $10 admission it costs a lot considering I didn't even stay because it was so crowded. I would understand a crowd in after-work hours but not during mid-day.

Cub Run is an awesome community center for the kids and the entire family. They have most gym equipments and amenities at cheaper member fees.
We came for the indoor pool in the middle of winter and it was just grand, with slides, sprinklers, mini lazy river, and a hot tub for the adults (have to be 16 years old to enter). Our little one had so much fun. The majority of the pool area is shallow so it was not intimidating for our little one. She was accompanied by us of course.
The day fee is free for our 2 year old. My husband and I both cost $20 total. We stayed for about 2 hours and I think it was worth it. There were a lot of birthday parties going on when we were there. I am unsure of the pricing for that but I'm sure it's a special price.
My only complaint is the cleanliness of the family and general changing stations. Dirty. I know it's hard to keep such areas tidy when it's so busy. But other community centers have done it so it's possible. My goal was to get in and out when I had to juggle everything with a toddler. Besides the bathrooms, there are many pros and perks to this community center.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0
