Crown Fried Chicken

The fried chicken is very good and the people running it are friendly. And will help you load up on white or dark meat whichever you prefer.

Big fan of Crown Fried Chicken.

Make no mistake, it is a hole in the wall, and a kind of greasy one at that...but in a good way. You have to take out, because they don't have a seat in there but the one single chair behind the counter. DON'T order anything but the chicken or the fries...well, the cole slaw is ok I guess, but seriously avoid the rest of the sides.

The chicken is good, ready pretty quickly, and CHEAP. They offer hot sauce with the chicken, TAKE IT! The combo of the fried chicken and their hot sauce is really good. (Sometimes I use the hot sauce, and then dip it in ranch dressing...so bad for you, but so good.) This place is also open until 3 in the damn morning, they are working their butts off and are ready for people rolling out of the bars looking for some food. Love it. Give their chicken a try...just the chicken. :)

I really dig Crown Fried Chicken, though the location in nearby Wilkes-Barre is a little better. This place is very small and for takeout only; there only seems to be one employee working at a time, manning both the cash register and deep-fryer, so expect to wait a little extra for your order. I would recommend the fried chicken or the burgers. Both are excellent and extremely cheap.

They are open about twenty hours per day but I know many people who won't head into that particular section of Scranton after dark. Every Crown Fried Chicken I've visited has always been located in the worst parts of town; all franchise owners must be instructed to set up shop only in the worst of slums. Maybe I go there just to tempt fate. I like my food with a little side of danger - it makes everything taste better. All of our senses are heightened when that adrenaline starts pumping.

Well this place is a little hole in the wall. Literally. Not the cleanest place. Wall menu is not updated. No longer had a couple things I ordered.
The chicken was crisp and tasty. Fried to order. Got a stale bun with it, just tossed that to the birds hanging outside my truck. Since it is only take out. Fries were ok. Had an extensive menu, but not sure if I'm willing to go back to try anything else.

This place looks like a total dump. I usually don't go to pick up our food because of the appearance and cleanliness of it. I must say that I have NEVER been disappointed with the food coming out of here. I have only had the fried chicken and the fried shrimp both came w french fries. The food has always been so tasty and cooked perfectly. The prices are good too. G'ma always said 'don't judge a book by its cover'.

Better than KFC, chicken was tender and crispy. Fries and coleslaw were also tasty. Would definitely go back. Prices are very reasonable for what you get.

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT now and it's HORRIBLE! Workers try to rip you off. Rude woman who took my order overcharged me TWICE and then TRIED TO STEAL MY CHANGE!!! Didn't put any sauce on the gyro. I was understandably angry and said I wouldn't be coming back and she replied "NO PROBLEM!" Chicken is bland now. They definitely changed the recipe. Been going for 2yrs but NEVER AGAIN!

I ordered the fried chicken, thinking it would be as good as KFC or Popeye's. Nope. The chicken had an odd red/orange hue to it, probably food coloring. The crust was way to hard it can no longer be defined as crispy. And worst of all, it has no flavor except SAAAALLLLT. I really wanted to liek this seeing as I live close and have fried chicken cravings often, but right now the only way to satisfy that craving is still KFC.
