About the Business
Crisp is a vegiterian fusion fast food that is fresh and health-smart. Our Breakfast is healthy and syncs your taste with your conscience. Our pitas are being baked every few hours. The falafel balls are being fried in canola oil wich is being changed every day. This is very important to make sure when fried the falafel doesn't soak oil. The hummus is being made fresh every couple off hours. Crisp goes green from the special packages that are made of corn, through the food that is made and served fresh everyday.

There are falafel sandwiches and then there are falafel sandwiches. Crisp has the latter. (Way more flavorful than Maoz!) And normally, even falafel of that caliber is nothing to get all excited about but let's remember this location is in the middle of the barren wasteland that is FiDi.
For my first visit today, I ordered the Crisp Africa on whole wheat pita and after I took my first bite, it was over. It sure blew all the falafel carts on Broadway & Liberty out of the water. Pita Grill who?? I don't know if I will ever pay money anywhere else. Ok fine, maybe when my wallet is feeling a bit too light, then I will save a few dollars and go to Nicky's instead. Otherwise, I will be going back here as long as my fingers are touching some green.
Crisp Africa was just the right amount of sweet with texture galore. My friend also got the same and we only took breaks between our chews to exclaim:
1) how fresh it tasted
2) how the falafel was NOT greasy
3) how the complimentary sauces (tahina, minty green sauce, spicy zhug) definitely added an oomph
4) how much we were loving our lunch
When we were finished, we were still singing high praises over how much we had enjoyed our lunch. Then we got some forks to make sure no bite went wasted, and chomped on the last pieces of corn and pita dipped in sauce. All in all, we ate to heart's, tongue's and stomach's content but not to the point of acid reflux.
Another friend recommended the Crisp Parisian for those who love goat cheese. I can't say I do so for my next choice, I will either go for the Crisp Mexican or the Chili Cheese burger. Can't wait for some more yummy in my tummy.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sarah B.Brooklyn, NY736516Sep 23, 2011
Oh Crisp, how I love thee.
They are my number one lunch spot near my office, and I have eaten there a few more times than I'd like to admit. It is an obsession.
My favorite item on the menu is actually the Classic burger. Falafel patty, lettuce, tomatoes, house dressing, american cheese on a whole wheat bun. It's also really filling!
I've never had falafel like it, I love the added spice and the texture. So much more desirable than the oily and greasy mass you get from other places.
They have really good fries as well, which I usually share because the portion is pretty big.
The staff are efficient and friendly, and you can tailor your order to your desire.
Thank the falafel kings for Crisp's Fulton location, otherwise my lunch break would be dismal with the other 'options' that are close by!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Irina M.New York, NY2921117Mar 29, 2011
I'm so excited I just found this spot.
It is obviously new because I work in this neighborhood for 4 years and have never seen it. I was walking outside thinking what to have for lunch and passed by Crisp. It looked new and different so I walked in to check it out. The place is not big, clean and nice bright colors inside. It's all about falafel but it is not a typical falafel stand. They have great variety of different types of falafels, you can have it with different fillings or sides, on pita, on flat bread or in the bowl. Nice concept. It is tasty, filling and makes you feel you ate healthy at the same time.
I had Crisp Authentic on wheat pita and it was great. They were baking fresh pitas right in front of me.
I would def be back for more.
PS "They pack it so nicely for you - very good for take out or on the go. "Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 11, 2012
Absolutely LOVE this place! Vegetarian's paradise! I agree the place is pricey, I would NOT try to make a lunch habit out of Crisp..! But the make your own option is amazing (albeit pricey). For 11 bucks, I can have my heart's content worth of toppings on my falafel sandwich! Love the fact that their bread is fresh backed on their premises AND I have the option to get the wheat bread. So yummy!
My absolute favorite topping is the Corn salsa.. DELISH!! They also have the yummiest mango lassi ever! The sauces available on the side counter are super yum too!
The store is kind of small, with seating for around 10 people at one time.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 3, 2012
I love that I have discovered Crisp! The food is fresh, the service is quick, and the location is SUPER clean and modern. I'm definitely coming back for more!
For those complaining about the price..you need to take a look at the ingredients and compare it to the places that are cheaper. Where else would you get baby tomatoes laden with toasted sesame in your falafel? This place just takes it to a whole new level.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 880249665Nov 20, 2011
Very surprised... Super tasty falafel in a salad- so despite the deep fried falafel- this is a somewhat healthy lunch! Really excellent falafel - in flavor and texture.
Will definitely return!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Diana C.Queens, NY246386270Oct 6, 2011
Very interesting menu with a new take on your typical falafels/pita sandwiches.
I am writing this review the morning after I had this for dinner and I am writing out of hunger.
I had the chili cheese falafel burger. I love falafels and I don't eat beef so this was kind of perfect. The veggie chilli kind of sogged up my falafel, which I should've known. I like my falafels crisp and I couldn't taste it through the chili. The burger wasn't very filling. I could possibly be okay eating this for lunch but definitely not dinner.
My bf had the Mexican crisp and was very full. Beware their signs say falafel sandwich & salad bowl, (see my pictures) what they mean is OR. FYI salad bowls are $1.50 more. Good ingredients but not sure of it warrants a $7.95 price tag. At the end of the day it's still just a pita sandwich with no meat. Then again, it is wall street and perhaps this is our way of ripping them off. Yeah! Payback!
Place looks clean. Green wall tiles remind me of a bathroom. Wooden benches got seating. I personally hate those. The seats are always so wide I feel like I'm climbing through an obstacle course to get in.
I would say this is a decent lunch spot, skip for dinner.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 16, 2011
2.5 stars
chain food, got the Africa sandwich, was solid.
Expensive.
Positive was the great Mint Iced Tea
Neutral was the sandwich
Negative: Price, some weird smell but it seems it is coming from the Chipolte now...so I guess I was mistaken.
I usually go here now for just a mint or white grape tea. 2.16 for a large good tea..why not.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Carol L.New York, NY4451314Jul 10, 2011
Got this for delivery as my first falafel experience! YUMMERS! I had a super long day and had some pretty bad food poisoning a few days earlier, so I really wanted to eat something light and fresh.
Everything came packaged in cute little colorful crisp boxes, and the quality of the food didn't suffer at all due to the delivery. Took about 20~30 minutes to come around 630PM.
I got the Greek Salad which was soo light and fresh and delicious! ~ 8 bucks, and also the crisp authentic. The falafel was so good and the sammich was HUGE. I could only eat half of it, and saved the second half for lunch the next day. THe sammich had a good mix of falafel and the cubed salad which consisted of cubed tomatoes + other herbs. The pita bread was fluffy and held the sammich together well. ~ 9 bucks
One downfall would be that we tried to order different types of hummus, but it seemed that this location only served the original hummus. Also, we ordered an extra side of the green spicy sauce and it never came...
Nonetheless, 2 small containers of beige-colored sauce came with the meal and I simply put some sriracha sauce into it and it worked quite well as a spicy component to the sandwich!
The next day the falafel sandwich was soggy, but I expected that.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Shing Yiing O.Manhattan, NY379625603May 1, 2012
3.5 stars.. near to 4... I never had this kind of pita before.. the homemade pita was really soft to enjoy!! The pita sandwich is HUGE!! I ordered the african.. pretty unique.. I love the falafel here.. slightly spicy (I guess is the sauce that made it spicy).. the combination with sweet potato is just perfect.. with the spicy peanut sauce..
Service is kinda fast.. I was in and out for less than 5 minutes.. A really good take out place in Financial District.. something different and unique since everyone is trying to grab a quick lunch as a break.. (hey.. you need good food to keep your energy up for the rest of your day!!)
I can't say much good things about this place.. that's why I am giving 4 stars.. but I will love to return.. :)Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
