I've been coming here for years and can't believe I haven't reviewed it yet!
Cleaning staff is always around, members are pretty good for the most part - every once in awhile some knucklehead thinks we want to hear them on their phone. Plenty of choices of machines, ellipticals, stationery bikes, free weights, strength training etc. I used to attend yoga classes pre-covid, although haven't done any classes since then. My health insurance covers the cost of membership, so no complaints there. Plenty of parking downstairs and upstairs. Shout out to Paolin Hartounian, Certified Nutritionist for the All Day Energy nutritional seminar she gave in March.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Kristy B.Tujunga, CA09Apr 16, 2024
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
My daughter was sick and in the hospital for almost a month and obviously couldn't go to her swim classes. They will not credit any money back or let her do make up classes. And trying to reach the next higher up manager is impossible. They will not return calls or emails.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jess D.La Crescenta, La Crescenta-Montrose, CA503510Apr 7, 2024
The actual facility is great, it's updated has a wide variety of machines both indoors and outdoors and has a great weight room. HOWEVER the people who frequent this place are inconsiderate selfish buttheads to put it nicely. One guy literally cut me off as I was about to step onto a machine while his towel and water were occupying another machine. Absolutely rude and selfish. The parking lot here is a NIGHTMARE! YALL NEED SPEED BUMPS!!! I almost got hit twice while pulling out from people speeding around a corner and not paying attention. And one of those people had the NERVE to flip me off after honking cuz they almost hit me. The gym usually helps me relax but I left more pissed off then I came

I'm surprised by this place. The Ys growing up were so nice. Even though I'm within walking distance of this location, I would rather drive to LA Fitness in Glendale, or especially Pasadena. It's way cheaper and you get so much more. Cleanliness for one. Better machines. Better layout. Way better hours. It's like going to a country club in comparison. Plus, I've never run into such bitchiness as I have there

Great facility! I come to swim and I am always greeted by the staff and they are always ready to help. I especially appreciate Mathew the lifeguard at the pool he has such a great attitude and really makes me glad to have come to workout! I really appreciate good people like Mathew who really does what he can to accommodate all who come to swim

I don't know why this center gets only 3 stars. Perhaps there are more complainers who bother to write in. I like it just fine. I appreciate the instructors I've had and I appreciate the resources here for working out.
As for cranky patrons, there's not much the staff can do about that. I've found most of my fellow patrons friendly.
To get five stars, they'd have to be open on Sundays as well.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Corey S.Los Angeles, CA072Jan 18, 2024Updated review
I'm leaving an updated review after being a member at this gym for over six months now. It's the gym from hell. Every time I've come here lately, something bad has happened. The members are a bunch of disgusting, filthy pigs with terrible hygiene and manners. It literally feels like you've stepped into a third world country when you enter the gym. Maybe it wasn't as bad when I started coming here or maybe I'm just noticing it more now but it's unacceptable. The somewhat decent amenities they offer does not make up for the trash that has infested the gym. Thankfully, there are two other gyms I can attend with my membership.
Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 25, 2023Previous reviewThe gym itself is okay but I'm leaving this review for the extremely rude, unprofessional volunteer coordinator, Heather Harris, who wastes peoples' time when they inquire about volunteer opportunities. Avoid her and you'll be okay.

They just raised their monthly rate now to $88 and still my pool is CLOSED. I wish they had smarter ways to deal with this time of year. They want to save money by not having the pools open due to heating the water costs. How about getting a POOL COVER that can be cranked over it quickly on a roller??!! Stop punishing members by reducing the time we get to use it for three months. I get fat and my joints ache and i pull muscles and have gotten plantar fasciitis each time i have to stop swimming. I do laps and also take the swim aerobics class from our top swim instructor Keri. She got no sick days this year because they hired a separate company to deal with lifeguards. she has worked there for over 10 years but when she gets a cold, no sick days!? Really?? Seems unfair to me and hard on her. I wish they weren't so into profits and more into helping their community. I used to volunteer painting and helping at the Christmas tree lot and moving large things with my truck. No thank you, no appreciation, no free lunch or even a gift card from a cheap fast-food place. Nothing. So, i stopped volunteering. Not even a date set yet for the opening back of my pool on Lowell. I had to put my membership on hold for three months. Why pay $88 for no access to my pool. It's just wrong!
Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Nov 10, 2023Previous reviewThey close the outdoor pool so often and charge $81 a month to where I am paying like $10 each time I go. When it's windy or a bit cold, they close it. Just get a damn pool cover. They make the lifeguards clean the pool of so much debris from the mts. it's stupid! Just cover it and then open the pool so we seniors can get our swim aerobics class. Pay a real Pool person to clean it. The lifeguards are there to watch over us, not pull debris put of the bottom of the pool for 3 hours! Inane waste of time and prevents us from getting in our aerobic swim class. They close this pool as often as they can making up excuses. I will be quitting all winter, why? Because they close my pool. The indoor pools stink and are dirty and overcrowded. The admin at the top get their huge salaries while the workers get less than $20 an hour. Rent and so on is so high they cannot employ enough people who want to stay. And then ask for donations. I doubt any money is actually used for what they say. Greedy men at the top. Sexist and treat employees like slaves.

Some of their classes are good, it really depends on who teaches them. A lot of the facilities are in bad need of upgrading/refreshing. 3-star rating (that's generous) for the shady way member services deals with monthly billing. It's really easy to activate/reactivate your membership online (when you sign up for a class) but notoriously difficult to cancel it once the class is over. They make you come in person to cancel services and will continue to charge your credit card automatically until you do. I noticed a charge that was 3x the normal price and when I inquired, they stated it was a billing error and will issue a refund. Not trust-inspiring.
