Light coffee. I prefer it a bit stronger. Nice service. Quick and tasty. I had the vegetation skillet. Hubby got an omelette. It was huge! Pancakes and French toast were ok. Parking was a little difficult but worth the trek. Will probably stop by again if we're in the area.

As the name suggests, this is quite a cozy spot for breakfast/lunch. I have always loved passing by this place because it often reminds me of the diner in Edward Hopper's famous 'Nighthawks' painting. There's just something that feels so classic and all-American here. I stopped in for a quick lunch and ordered the vegan panini which comes with fries and the soup of the day. Let me just say, the sandwich was a pure delight. All the right makings which included roasted red peppers, mushrooms, avocado, arugula and hummus for a unique touch. Fries were good, the chicken and rice soup was hearty and delicious. Do you feel the big but coming?
BUT. The fried green tomatoes... a bust. Mind you, I think I was just being too adventurous. These are a southern staple and that is so obviously not the type of fare that is specialty at a spot like this. I was just so surprised to see them on the menu that I HAD to give them a go. They were not fried thoroughly though and it just kind of made for a damper on an otherwise great meal. My server spotted that I had only picked over them and immediately offered to remove them from the bill which was really awesome on her part. I wish I could do 3.5 stars because it was otherwise a pleasant experience. This one's on the cusp for me, but I would eat here again because the people are kind and the food is mostly decent.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - 594370594Aug 27, 2023
If you are looking for a great place for breakfast or lunch in the Oak Park area - this is definitely a good choice for you!
I tried their strawberries and cream crepes, along with the scrambled eggs and cheese, hashbrowns, and turkey bacon. I absolutely loved the crepes! They weren't overly sweet and it was very filling. I was so glad that they offered turkey bacon - I stopped eating beef and pork, and sometimes having side meat options in a restaurant that I can consume, can be difficult. They even cooked the turkey bacon correctly, which a lot of folks get wrong too! Lol
The waitress was very accommodating. It was so busy in there on a Sunday afternoon, on the inside and outside, but she handled the tables order quickly and efficiently and she was so sweet to my son. We were told the wait was going to be 25 mins but it was more like 15.
Go check them out and tell 'em that Planes and Plates sent you!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Betsy B.Warren Park, IN041Dec 4, 2023
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Service was tremendous! I brought in a group of friends without any reservations and they were able to accommodate all of us and place us at one large table! Service was timely, and all employees were extremely nice and helpful. Food was exactly what we asked for and more! We were celebrating our upcoming graduation and they provided miniature Mickey Mouse pancakes with fruit ON THE HOUSE!!!! Ambiance is definitely cozy and 100% a friendly environment.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Rebecca A.Orland Hills, IL019Jul 31, 2023Updated review
To Peter G.,
I never said the double omelet was on your menu. That was the request I made-that I wanted double or extra cheese INSIDE of my omelet(not a slice slapped on top of it. I like my cheese to be oozing out when i cut into it) When I looked, there was no cheese at all! Yes, I was dissatisfied because I sat there and waited quite awhile, had several conversations with the patrons and still waited. Therefore, it wasn't worth the wait.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Rebecca, I apologize for your misfortune, however kindly make sure you are reviewing the correct restaurant as we do not have a double cheese omelet on our menu. In addition I am not so sure our cooks would make an omelet with no ingredients at all and just eggs.
Mar 13, 2023Previous reviewWent there for Saturday morning breakfast Ordered a double cheese omelet Starving by this time, I get the omelet and y NO cheese in the omelet. I heard the waitress remind him, the cook, to put the cheese inside not on top. Well, he went one better how bout NO CHEESE AT ALL!

I wasn't quite sure about this place since it's literally a cozy diner :) The staff were very friendly and the food was DELICIOUS!!!!! You get a lot of food for the price and it didn't take long. There was a little wait but when they say 15-20 min they are right on the money! You can park at the meters but its not expensive at all. There is is indoor and outdoor dining for your enjoyment. I will definitely be back to try some other dishes!

Busy and worth the wait! Breakfast or Brunch at the Cozy Corner at the corner of Marion and Lake in Oak Park. Patti was our amazing waitress. She rocks!
I had Big B&G and my friend had a veggie omelet. We both got Bavarian potatoes; made with o lions and real crumbled bacon. Just the tI guy amount of crisp on the potatoes.
The serving of food is generous in proportion to the price.
If you are in Oak Park this is highly recommended! Again. Worth the wait. Free WiFi. Ask your waitstaff for the password.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Pam H.Warrenville, IL31471Jan 30, 2024
I stopped by this place cause I just moved to the area. I ordered a turkey sandwich which is difficult to screw up. I received a mushy sandwich and it was dry even though I asked for heavy mayonnaise. I received a tiny amount of crinkle cut French fries which weee barely enough to feed a bird! Apparently there's a run on potatoes at $15 for a sandwich. The lentil soup was awful and bland and tasted like dish soap. The manager is delusional in thinking that his food is good. I'll never ever dine here again and unfortunately I cannot recommend eating here. I ended up taking my food to go and gave it to a homeless person. My waitress who was also the hostess was very personable and friendly but the food wasn't very pleasant so if you are considering dining here let me provide you with some advice. Run! Run like your the last two monkeys boarding Noah's Ark and it's starting to rain!!! Run! Do not pass go! Do not collect $200!!! No! You've been warned folks! Enter at your own peril! Garbage food!

Amazing food and amount of food. We were waiting on other family members to join, and the service was friendly and excellent. We watched a good crowd fill up the entire restaurant while we were waiting - signs of good stuff (popular place with locals). Daughter loved the red velvet French toast and the veggie omelette!
