A decent place to stop and have bar food.
If you like country music, you'll probably like it a lot.
Obviously a local hangout which you can tell because people at the bar are talking to each other about the immediate area.
My date and I had a burger and sweet potato fries. Nothing to write home about but a good place just the same.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mickey M.New York, NY0230Feb 15, 2024Updated review
Yeah, this place still sucks.
Wobbly stools, tattered kitschy decor.
Mediocre food, surly service.
Cowgirl never had a prime, but it would've been past it.
Time to close up shop??
NOT RECOMMENDED.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 21, 2009Previous review$12 for a pork burger isn't exactly the cheapest.
Especially if it wasn't even that good.
Staff is cold, as was the dining room temperature!
I will not return. - Nov 2, 2023
Made a reservation, and on arrival was greeted by a very friendly host who chatted with me while I waited for the rest of my party. Off to a great start. Ordered the Pulled Pork and tater tots, both were good. Ordered the ice cream baked potato and it was a fun gimmick, worth getting once.
Problem is, waitress was terrible. Rarely came to check on things. Another member of my party asked what a special on the menu was and she said she "wasn't sure, maybe a drink or a dessert." If you don't know, you first offer to go find out, not have us order unsure if we're picking a drink or a dessert. Ultimately she did do that, but the sense of indifference and unwillingness to lift a finger was a significant turn off.
I do intend to return and hope that the issues were just one bad wait staff considering that the other interaction was positive, food was good, and price was fair.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 18647339347Aug 5, 2023
"Cowgirls don't get the blues here"
I've been coming here for years. But recently my boyfriend's bestie is a country fan so I thought they would enjoy this spot. And it's pretty decently priced for being in the city.
I love that's it's also insanely kitsch! I love the country vibe!
We arrive after the brunch time ends but before dinner. We put our names on the list. Snag some happy hour drinks. $5 Lionshead, pretty light, refreshing Pilsner, $8 lime margs and $10 flavored. Love the mango or strawberry margaritas.
I keep leaning into the breaded catfish and tots. I make a lot of my own food so a gluttonous treat on the weekend is a must.
There is a long bar at the front. You can choose to eat here too. There is another room with tables. There's a back room and bar for private parties and the bathrooms are downstairs.
I keep getting too stuffed for the ice cream potato dessert but next time I will leave some room for sure.
Also need to point out that the level of country decor here is perfection.
Perfect food come country bumpkin watering hole/grub spot.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 15, 2023
Have not had a corndog in years, but you know the saying: when in New York...
This was one of the first stops I made during my trip. I consider myself a bit of a cowgirl myself so I thought I should stop by for a quick bite and a drink.
I heard many people raving about the corn dogs and had to try one for myself. I was really surprised how much I enjoyed it! Tender, juicy middle with an almost biscuity crust. The margarita wasn't bad either!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 105234207Jan 25, 2024
Has the tacos which were not so edible. Drinks were okay. Place was a little grungy. Service was great though and only place that was not packed out on a Saturday night.

Place has a fun vibe. When you walk in. It feels like a party. Went there with my daughter and another friend of mine. Definitely a TexMex menu. Plenty to choose from. Service was prompt and friendly. I got the mixed salad which was very good. My daughter got the pulled pork sandwich and tater tots. Tried that. Also good. Did not try a cocktail. Overall. A solid 4. I might come back and try some cocktails another evening

It's a cute spot in West Village, with lots of eccentric decor. We came for some drinks and were not disappointed!
We ordered a large pitcher of frozen margaritas. It wasn't too strong, but the flavor was delicious. They offered plain or salt rimmed cups. I wished they would offer sugar ones in addition.
We also ordered the nachos, which were ok. They were pretty standard, my friends thought they were very cheaply made with not the best ingredients.
The service here wasn't great. We were sat outside and then weren't acknowledged for at least 30 min. We had plans to go to the pier for sunset, but couldn't make it due to the wait. We were about to leave and find another bar in the area, when our drink orders were taken. It was hard to flag down a waiter.
I would come back for the drinks and it's overall a cute spot.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 25, 20241 check-in
This place is fascinating. The wait for other bars nearby we were hoping to go to was too long so we walked by this place and stopped in because the window made it seem like a candy-themed bar? We were wrong. It took a fair amount of time for us to even figure out what the name of the bar was but the southern/cowgirl theme was apparent? It was packed, not just with people but with decorations. It seems as if the decorators have been adding things for decades and unwilling to remove decorations already there, creating a sensory visual experience that was a mis-mosh of many styles. For example, there is a whole wall of elementary-school aged soccer team photos? The bartender was the best part, as she was super attentive and considerate. The drinks were fairly expensive, the cheapest margarita being $15. Went with the lime marg, which had a hypertension-inducing amount of salt on the rim, and prickly pear marg, which had a diabetes-inducing amount of sugar around the glass. Overall quite a strange experience, would recommend an overall edit of the decor and re-evaluation of the prices. Still don't totally understand the experience.

In need of calories on my walk to Chelsea, I came upon this restaurant. I ordered the crab cake Benedict, no doubt a premium item, and a steak quesadilla. I would have eaten anything, to be honest, but I really was satisfied with this meal. As much as I would like to add it to my casual post-workout weekend rotation, $50 inclusive of tip for this is not a great value compared to a neighborhood counter service spot.
