Great locally owned restaurant in Cleveland, MS. I visited while doing some site seeing at a few museums. Its en route to the Grammy Museum. Customer service was good, my order came out hot and fast, all the food was seasoned well, priced right! The only issue was the green beans were from a can, other than that everything was excellent.
I had the catfish, rice/ gravy, green beans, corn bread, and sweet tea. They cook the catfish hot to order. I didn't order desert, but they had lots of pies and cakes if you desire. Lots of seating, clean, and friendly environment. Great foodie spot if your in town, we will be back for sure!Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Brian P.Miami, FL1097128Jul 19, 2021
I had a nice experience here at Country Platter. The restaurant is a locals favorite and stayed busy with a steady stream of customers. They were only serving take-out at the time of my visit, which was fine by me. The food was solid and would be worth another visit in the future if I was in the area.

About three weeks ago I took a trip to the Mississippi Delta with my Grandma so she could visit her sister. Our destination was Cleveland, Miss. While there, I asked one of the locals of a good place to get an authentic Southern meal. They recommended the Country Platter. We found the address and stopped in there for a meal.
This place doesn't look like much. It's just a little hole in the wall restaurant with the very basics, nothing at all fancy including the menu. Basic chairs, basic tables, white walls. The menu isn't huge but had lots of good, hearty Southern foods on it, including chitterlings... which I will always avoid at all costs. Catfish, Fried Pork Chops, Fried Chicken... it was all on there. I went with the Fried Pork Chops. They were very nicely cooked. Not too dry and seasoned nicely. I had mine smothered with gravy. I did mac & cheese and black-eyed peas for my sides. Both were great. There were also cakes and homemade pies on the menu, all of which looked great but I was too full to consider eating those. Grandma got the fried Catfish and said it was some of the best she's eaten.
I've been told they do a good traditional American breakfast as well but that will have to wait for a future visit.
I recommend the Country Platter if you ever find yourself in Cleveland, Miss. Good food, great atmosphere and friendly, courteous staff. Thanks for making our short stay in Cleveland a good one!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - J S.Fort Lauderdale, FL09032Nov 14, 2021
As of November 14, 2021, there is a sign on the door that says "Masks required, no exceptions" FYI. Just wanted to prevent others from driving from other towns for nothing like I did.

This place is ok, nothing special, but decent food.
I arrived at 4 p.m. on a Sunday and was glad to see it still open. Sundays in Mississippi are rather slow -- even the dogs take the day off. But I digress.
I was immediately confused when I entered. There was a cash register at the door, so I asked if I should wait to be seated. They said sit anywhere, then pointed me to a short serving table fronting a small kitchen and told me to go place my order.
Lids covered all the food, so I couldn't tell what was available. A smeared white board had foods listed, but every item I chose wasn't available. In frustration, I finally asked if they had fried chicken (which wasn't on the board). Then I began playing musical chairs with my side orders. They didn't have okra or macaroni, so I asked for yams and corn. The server sullenly plopped my chicken on the plate with green beans and yams. I didn't complain about the wrong order.
As I was doing this, a waitress came and wanted to know where I was sitting and what I wanted to drink. Silverware was wrapped in a pan at the end of the counter, but when I took my plate and reached into the pan, the server informed me that it was already at my table. I apologized and asked if I could have banana pudding for dessert, and the server told me to ask my waitress.
OK, so I made it through the confusing gauntlet of half buffet, half table service, half cafeteria style. The food was just ok. Nothing special. Regular comfort food fare. It wasn't particularly seasoned and was lukewarm. The chicken was ok. Crispy but dry. The yams were quite good. The green beans were canned and were cold. The banana pudding was a sickly, nuclear mustard yellow color. I love the stuff, but I was afraid to eat this. I dipped my spoon in anyway, and it tasted ok, but I couldn't move past the color, so I only ate a few spoons.
Since I had a waitress bringing food, I gave her my credit card and she disappeared. When she returned, I saw that she had rang it up without a tip. I told her I wanted to tip her and she said she had to ring it up assuming I wasn't leaving a tip since I didn't pay at the register.
I apologized and gave the girl a $10 (on a $10 meal), and she simply took it and walked away. No thanks. No come again. No inquiry of how my food was. Nothing.
I may have caught them on an off night, but I doubt I will try them again. The food wasn't special enough to deal with the service, and I felt very uncomfortable and out of place.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Gus Z.Shell Knob, MO0356Jun 22, 2017
I went for BREAKFAST. (Photo posted)
Nutshell: OK. Not fancy. Deep-fried hash-brown patty. Tiny bread. Fresh eggs. Gravel parking lot.
They weren't busy when I visited. Service was OK, but no follow-up after the meal was served.
I had eggs, sausage, hash browns and toast. The eggs were fresh, sausage was fine but the hash browns were just a deep-fried, hash-brown patty. That was disappointing. And the toast was the smallest pieces of bread I've ever seen.
Price was reasonable.
OK, but I won't go back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michelle P.Mound Bayou, MS22Nov 28, 2020
The food was very good. Staff very helpful and friendly. The best dessert is the peach cobbler. Can't wait to try their fried chicken again. You all rock

The food is good but the customer service is awful. The ladies are as rude as they come. They act as if YOU (the customer) is an inconvenience for them. One got upset because I wanted to order 3 dinner plates, expressing her anger "3!!!!, I need to go pick up my kids". How is that my problem? Be careful because they always seem to have an attitude. You know what they say, never upset someone who is handling your food.
