This place clearly shows some serious use and could use a few renovations, but it was the service that gives it 4 stars.
My husband and I went for lunch on a weekday, and were pleasantly surprised with the Cotton Boll Grill. When you first walk in, you may have some doubts, but hopefully you'll get our server. I felt like I was at grandma's house, and she wanted me to feel comfortable. I got a nummy hamburger and fries, and an endless soda.
My husband got the fried chicken plate, and was a little less than impressed, but I don't think he's much of a fried chicken eater. Honestly, it tasted like KFC to me, but I like KFC (as long as it's hot).
They did bring out my husband's meal about 5 minutes before mine, but the waitress apologized and was very solicitous, so no harm, no foul.
The best part was, when we were getting ready to go, our waitress asked me if I wanted my most recent full glass of the endless sodas to go. And yes, I did, but I've NEVER been asked that by a server. Seriously thoughtful and less waste. She won me over.

Great food and customer service. I will be back soon for the chicken fried steak on the dinner menu. Also the cook was a comedian had us cracking up laughing!

Stopped by for breakfast and it seemed like stepping back in time. Small but clean restaurant. Waitress was so nice. Food was just good home cooking. My breakfast was more than enough and $5.95.

It took over an hour to get our food even though the restaurant was only half full. When my highly touted chicken fried steak finally arrived, it was so bloody I couldn't eat it. The steamed broccoli was very overdone, the blackeyed peas were straight from a can, and I have no idea what those potatoes were. Had I ordered something from the grill, I probably would have loved it. So very

The food was amazing. I had fried chicken with sides and it was great! The sides were great too. Service was friend and prompt. I'll definitely go back repeatedly.

If you really want to experience. "real down home, cooking" the Cotton Bowl is the place to go. Vicki and her staff are the best. It's like you are sharing lunch with your family or best friends. Cost is very reasonable. I know all this because I have been a customer of their's for over 65 years. Oh, and by the way, be sure and try their hot water cornbread. It's the best too.

It's a small place but the hospitality was fine!! Now, I've heard only great reviews about this place & that's why I went. Whew, the fried catfish & shrimp were very salty but other than that ... all was fine.

This place still rocks! Just grabbed this stellar club sandwich and fries and also got a side of banter from Red and John! These guys make sure the service and food are both great! Love that it's around the corner from work, and the menu offers the full slate you'd expect from a small diner.

The inside is filled with history, giving you something different to look at from each table - and the counter top is available for service. I have never been served a bad meal here. Their breakfast food is delicious, and they make a wonderful BLT! Don't be surprised if they run out of specials or certain items. They make the food to eat not to sit around.

I got the baked chicken and dressing lunch special with greens, black eyed pea's, & hot water cornbread... I enjoyed every bite!!! I believe I can honestly say it was the best I ever had! Do yourself a favor and check them out! You may want to call or come in early... I was lucky enough to get the last order and was here by 12:30pm.

The 5-star rating isn't changing on this favorite. We stopped in for a late breakfast/early lunch on a Monday morning. All the seats at the bar were taken, so we opted for a booth. Janice, our server was incredible. I learned about Hot Water Cornbread, and enjoyed it with the special of the day, Baked Chicken.
Cotton Boll still specializes in comfort food for us.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0Nov 22, 2017Previous reviewWhenever we have spent the night in Bossier City, we make a point of having breakfast at the Cotton Boll on our way out of town. It's a great way to start the day, and such a comforting experience when your vacation is over.
The grits, the biscuits, the gravy, the FOOD in general is so good! Then, there is the atmosphere---so friendly, so down-home, so comfortable. We like to sit at the small bar, watch the cook, and enjoy the convo with the servers and locals.
