What a great surprise! My wife and I wanted to try something new on date night and are so glad we chose Corbin's.
It has a great ambiance and is great for relaxing and visiting.
Started with their version of potato skins and edamame. The potato skins knocked it out of the park and the edamame was warm and salted just right. So good!
The entrees we had were the ribeye(me) and salmon covered by asparagus(my wife). The smoke flavor mixed with the rub on the ribeye plus the fact it was served to me perfectly medium rare combined to make this one of the best steaks I've ever had at any restaurant. My wife loved the salmon and can't wait to come back.
For dessert we both had their peach cobbler. OUTSTANDING!!!
Only critique we had was there could be a little more Caesar dressing on the salad or side.
Chris was an excellent server. Make sure to ask for him. Knowledgeable, professional and personable.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Loretta R.Layton, UT015Sep 2, 2023
I have been too long in writing this review. New management who changed the staff along with the recipes. Dressings were watered down. It was obvious that no longer fresh, preferable ingredients (much less choices) would be made available.

Stopped by here for dinner after a long day at work. I like to support local businesses and everything else seemed to be big box corporate restaurants. It was quiet for 5PM on a Thursday.
We started off with the artichoke spinach dip and fried calamari for our appetizers. The dip was so disappointing. It was not inedible, but it was poorly misclassified. It tasted like Alfredo sauce with artichokes mixed in. No resemblance whatsoever to a cream cheese dip and nothing special. Garlic butter baguette slices were yummy though. The calamari was overdone, dry, and chewy. First impression: not great for the best steakhouse around.
I ordered a filet mignon "Oscar style" (with crab and hollandaise) with the soup of the day and rice pilaf as my two sides. Soup came out after the appetizers and was okay. It was a tortilla chicken soup today. Then my dish came out. I ordered a medium rare filet. It came out medium well...had to quint real hard to see the pink blush in the center and the seared sides were hard to chew on. Strike two. At least the crab and hollandaise on top added to the flavor and the rice you can't really mess up.
Maybe I'm spoiled because of all the good food in California, but I wasn't impressed. Service was decent despite our server being a smoker and breathing in our faces right after a smoke break. Get it together man.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Curtis F.Ogden, UT26221Sep 9, 2019
For what is positioned as an upscale restaurant, this place needs an overhaul. Very slow and poor service. Food is average. There's a reason this place is empty and Roosters next door is busy. After reading other reviews I thought I would give it a shot anyway.
It has potential but needs to managed like a nice restaurant.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1034521Feb 21, 2017
It was Valentine's Day. We had reservations for 7 PM. Arrived at 6:40 so we could make sure we got in on time, knowing it was a holiday. Checked in-hostess told us it would be about 15 to 20 minutes which we expected since we were early.
We sat down at the bar. New guy (three days) was very nice, but It was very unorganized even when others came to help. The lobby filled up even more than it had when we first arrived. 40 to 50 people waiting. Got our wine-After 15 minutes, so we drank it rather quickly and closed out our tab since we thought we would be getting seated soon. Come to find out there were two separate couples behind us that had 645 reservations and four more @ 7. It was now 730 and none of us had been seated. As we enjoyed each other's company, which included complaining about the wait time, a girl screamed"yahoo!" When they were called. Another 30 minutes passed and we were finally seated. It was now 8. When finally seated, we noticed many open tables some cleared, others not.
Sat down-no silverware, no napkins. Another 10 minutes for someone to come by. Ordered an appetizer and drinks. Brought the appetizer quite quickly but still no silverware. Silverware - no napkins. Ordered dinner, and NO prime rib- they only prepare that on weekends. Why would you not prepared prime rib on Valentine's Day? So-disappointed, we ordered the ribeye steak (med rare)and the salmon. Dinners came with soup and salad but took a while before they came out-waitress said they were behind on making them. Got the soup and salad and also got our entrées. Ribeye was horribly overcooked-so bad I could not eat it. Told waitress - no offer to re-cook or to take it off the bill. Just a reply "I'm sorry".
Overall, it was a horrible experience. Eating dinner took less time than the wait. Not the people's fault. Poor management. Either overbooked on purpose or grossly understaffed. We will not be coming back. And I have told many of my experience.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Matt O.Kaysville, UT3104Nov 7, 2017
My wife and I were looking for a good mid priced meal and found Corbin's online with some mixed reviews.
My wife ordered the Steak Skewer Citrus salad that honestly didn't present very well, but my wife said it had tons of flavor and she enjoyed it.
I opted for the prime rib, cooked medium. The flavor was bland and came more of a rare. The cut was decent size, but I expected a better flavor. The waiter provided adequate service, recommending that the lava cake was made fresh and told us to order mid way through our meal to allow for its preparation. The desert was ok. All in all there are plenty other restaurants in the area that we will pick from next time.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Colten V.Salt Lake City, UT104482May 31, 2019
We went to Corbin's for a post-graduation meal for my brother in law. It was a Thursday at 5:00 and there wasn't a single other table in there. Bad sign, but we still gave it a try. Our waiter was nice and did a good job, but that was about the only real positive. The food was very mediocre. The steak was dry and had little to no flavor. I had a burger and the patty was OK, but nothing great. The fries were very bland and I had to douse them in salt to even eat them. My wife got a pasta dish and again, mediocre at best.
The food is way overpriced for what you get. If it would have been reasonably priced, I would have given it 3 stars because the food wasn't gross, it just wasn't good. Also, small portions (which I'm fine with if the food is excellent, but it was far from that). When we left at about 6:15, there was still no one in the restaurant. Apparently no one is really that excited about Corbin's.
Layton isn't known for great cuisine, but go next door to Roosters if you're in the area. Much, much better.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Andrew S.Safety Harbor, FL42353Oct 10, 2019
I had high hopes for this place, but that all came crashing down after I tried to order my steak salad cooked medium-rare. That's when an extended discussion about Utah's food & beverage regulations ensued. The result... my steak salad was cooked medium - - not medium-rare. So I got screwed out of my money and my food.
And don't get me started about the insane and archaic Utah alcohol restrictions that screw the consumer (the general public) and the proprietor at the same time. So in Utah, if you have 5 wives (or more); that's no problem. But if you have a glass of wine during happy hour without ordering food; you've broken the law!!!
To be fair, it's not entirely the fault of the food establishment; because the chow was fresh and the place was clean, etc. But everything about this restaurant tasted as if it had the corporate stamp of approval, which translates as "never give the customer what they want - give them whatever works and is financially expedient".
If you want it done your way - get the hell out of Utah!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 8211680Oct 24, 2018
I've been here numerous times and havent been disappointed yet. First off the service was great! Our server was super friendly and fun! I got the 8 oz sirloin which comes with two sides. The ceasar salad is one of my faves! I do wish they had regular croutons instead of the lightly toasted bread on the side. And a baked potato. I really liked everything I got. The steak was cooked to my request. The chips they use to cook the steaks add a great flavor, but I kind of felt like they used that as a flavor too much because the steak in my opinion lacked salt and pepper. Even with the lack of S & P ot was still a great steak! They do have some topping styles you can add to any steak if you want to get super fancy. The wine and beer selection is pretty good. I would definitely recommend this place and I will continue to come back.

Great experience! Our server Thom was on top of it from the get go. Menu had a lot of great options we went with the Cajun pasta and a ribeye. The pasta had great flavor and the portion was large. Ribeye was cooked to a perfect medium and flavored just right. The highlight for us was definitely the spinach artichoke dip. We've had a lot of them and this one was top notch for sure.
