I'm updating this review because I was scrolling through all my old reviews and saw that I gave them four stars. I must have accidentally hit four stars because as I stated in my original review this is perhaps the best Indian buffet I've ever been to in my life and I've been to quite a few.

I was in the area and craving some desi food, so I decided to try it out. Their panner tikka masala was different than usual taste but was good in taste. While the biryani lacked in flavor, it was more like pulao.
The sitting and ambience are nice.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 309225108076May 30, 2013
Oh, you fancy. You a little dressed up. You a little different. A little classy. But still true to your roots. Oh, you fancy.
That's the first feeling I had when I went into this new Indian spot in downtown SLC. Located on 600 S, the real estate is perfect when you're getting off the freeway and want a convenient dinner stop. Perhaps you're on your way to a concert or a ball game, or just headed into the city. It doesn't get much more convenient.
But don't let that convenience fool you. It's not exactly a quick stop, or a casual affair. No, it's a little bit fancy. In a valley full of Indian food options, this is a little bit stepped up than your normal naan and kebab affair. The ambiance is nice, but understated. And instead of your meals being plopped into a platter, there is some thought to color and presentation. It's a fun niche in the Indian food scene that wasn't currently being filled. So this was a fun stop.
As for the food, it was up to snuff. I ordered the chicken sampler (chicken three ways) and while it was definitely good, I'm not sure I'd recommend it for the price. The taste won't disappoint you, but the portion seemed a bit small or the price a bit steep. Still, you won't go wrong if you're a chicken lover and you'll love the moist and flavorful bites they bring you.
I also had the samosa app, and it was gorgeous. Three sauces. Nice flavor, great presentation. I tried the chicken korma, tandoor chicken, and a biryani (lamb?) that were all nice and flavorful, and the price point seemed to be right on.
As with any new place, the service was a little hinky, but for being their second week, they were light years ahead of some other places that I've been to. It wasn't very busy on my visit, so I don't know how they handle a crowd.
I say, welcome. Welcome to the SLC Indian food scene, and I wish them luck. It's a great little niche--Indian food with a fancy flare, and it's definitely worth checking out.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Dec 21, 2013
Absolutely loved this place! We went there for the lunch buffet a couple of days ago. We just found out it is the same owner as Tandor Indian Grill which I also like.
This place had a great selection and their spices are kicked up a notch unlike Tandor Indian Grill. We were pleasantly surprised on the different varieties of food they had. Service was top notch, never had to ask to fill my water or remove a plate.
The arrangement of the copper serving pans was different than other Indian places I have frequented.
Definitely going back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 1, 2016
Place is decent.
Food is ok
Careful will charge you extra for everything
Onions ,Papadum .lol surprised I wasn't charged for the glass of water.
They keep pushing the madras chicken which is horrible like dishwashing liquid.
Will never go back here you have better options in the area.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 12, 2015
My experience at Copper Bowl is definitely positive! The restaurant is clean and spacious. The server was very nice and kindly explained the differences of their menu items when I asked, and constantly checked on us. I had chicken korma and it was delicious. I like coconut curry so it was perfect. My friends had palak and vindaloo and they were both tasty as well. I ordered medium but my friends went for spicy and extra spicy :o Needless to say, the one who ordered extra spicy was sweating the whole time.

Just came back to Utah from SoCal and wasn't expecting this treat of a restaurant! I was spoiled in SoCal with all their Indian options but Copper Bowl proves that even smaller cities have been infiltrated by good Indian chefs.
We ordered dosa, butter chicken, naan, daal, alu gobi, and jhurmuri. Jhurmuri is a snack that is eaten in northern India. They had a twist with avocado in it. And it was yummy! Dosa was good, as expected from an Andhra based crew. Butter chicken was one of the best I've had in the USA. The only other one that was close to this was Annapoorna in Irvine CA. Daal was also excellent. Alu gobi was satisfactory. If I had a bit of a complaint, it was their naan. Not a typical North Indian style naan. It was ok nonetheless.
Overall, it was a great experience and the ambiance wasn't bad either. I will be definitely back. Especially to try out their lunch buffet.
This is definitely my choice now in downtown over star of India and Himalayan Kitchen (both have been around for a while now).

I came with a small group and we got a bunch of different dishes and ate it all family style. My favorites were the chicken tikka misala and the lamb korma misala. The tikka misala was spicy and flavorful, my favorite. The lamb was super tender and also really good. We also got the chicken trio, and it wasn't my favorite, but I think that is just because I prefer saucy Indian food.
We got medium level spicy on everything, and that was perfect. It had a nice kick, but didn't burn your face off. The garlic naan was also really good, pillowy and crispy at the same time.
The restaurant was really pretty and very quiet. The only thing wrong with the evening was the service. Our server basically ignored us the whole evening. She came over to take our order and bring the food. I had to go to the bar to get more water, after trying to flag her down for ten minutes.
I hear their lunch buffet is good, so I will probably come back for that.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

I love the power of Yelp. We are in SLC for a cheerleading competition and scoped out restaurants eat our hotel. Copper Bowl popped up at the Yelp reviews were good. So on we went.
First the ambiance was very calming, it's just lovey inside, but not in a pretentious way. We went about 6pm and were seated right away. Our waiter was very nice and accommodating of our split check.
The food was delicious, we ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Biryani, Lentil Soup, Samosas, Lamb Korma and, of course, garlic naan. The portions are quite large and you could easily share between two people.
If I lived in SLC this would be a regular haunt for me.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
