The staff and Dr DiTata were wonderful with my cat Coco. Great care and the doctor explains everything in detail. Love this veterinary hospital.

They came through for our Dixie and she had a peaceful night

I had been a loyal client for13 years. My 2 main issues...Prices.They had always been reasonable...until COVID, They more than tripled. I was in shock!!! I paid close to 1300- to have my little dog neutered. Granted, he had some issues, but still absolutely insane!!! This is when I started to really dislike what was going on there.
Next...never had issues with appointments until recently i had some appointments that had to be rescheduled/cancelled at the last minute...Life happens!!! Because of this, Nicole Platas the condescending and rude "Hospital Administrator"told me in the future, I had to pay for my appointments ahead of time. I told her to "get the fuck out of here". She doesn't care who stays and who goes, its not her business, she's just there for a paycheck.
They don't care about your pets.
It's become a money trap.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Fantastic! the office is super clean and cute, the staff are dolls, and we came in for a shot but the dr spend ten minutes with me answering my questions about diet. The follow up email had all the info so I didn't even have to write it down. I can't say enough good things about them, my crazy dog was super calmed and comfortable there, he didnt want to leave.

I used to really love it here but I'm currently in the process of looking for a new vet. Starting in 2020 curbside service began, which of course was totally reasonable. Now we're coming up on 3 years later and they still aren't allowing folks inside with their pets.
Follow up phone calls do not make for good communication - especially since I have a new puppy and have a ton of questions. It's also somewhat unfair to both the animals and the animal parents. You can't expect the same quality of service when you have to wait in a parking lot.
The prices have seem to gone up as well, which honestly isn't that surprising considering the price for everything is getting higher. The problem with this is that I already feel like the experience of waiting in the parking lot and talking to someone over the phone is pretty crap - and then I'm hit with a huge bill afterwards.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 2 - Clark G.Manayunk, Philadelphia, PA011Sep 24, 2021
THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR DOG!!
I've taken my dog Blue to this vet for 2 years. The vets were great and technicians as well. Many vets have left this company for several different reasons. Maybe the highest turnover rate in the state, who knows.
They are short staffed currently but for some reason are accepting new patients. My dog blue was told we had to wait one month before we could be seen for possible staff infection and a limp she has had for weeks.
The manager Nicole confirmed they are taking new clients even though they are short staffed and people there keep leaving. They'd rather take the new business and have that cash right away and have their loyal customers on a wait list.
The ownership and management of this company should be ashamed of themselves and feel terrible about how they are treating animals.
Picture of my dog Blue below that I was able to get an appointment for at one of the best vets in NJ 2 days out. Companion still a month late. Please don't take your pet here if you want them to be healthy.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sean M.Philadelphia, PA27314Oct 12, 2021
I really liked the doctors there and the techs are nice in person; however, I would not recommend anyone go to Companion. In my eyes, the practice has gone downhill over time (I took my dog there for nearly 7 years). The only reason my wife and I had stayed with them was because they were close and the technology they possess is really nice. Their attentiveness is horrible. It's quite obvious that it's a business first, and a vet second.
Prices are quite high, but most practices similar in size and technology outlay in the city are quite comparable. Just know that they charge you for EVERY little thing.
During the pandemic they started doing telemedicine visits. I can understand trying to recoup money while business is slow and the economy has changed. What I didn't appreciate is the appearance of recommending EVERY patient have a telemedicine visit even when it's not necessary nor appropriate...just to milk another $50-60 off you. Why do I need a telemedicine visit when I've already told you everything about my dog and his diarrhea over the phone and you know an in-person appointment will eventually need to be scheduled?
I wish it were easy to find a vet who puts the animal first. I think Companion is in over their heads at this point and are sacrificing customer service for expanded business. I get it, but I would not recommend bringing your animals there.Helpful 9Thanks 2Love this 0Oh no 1 - Margarita T.Philadelphia, PA563Nov 7, 2021Updated review
Appointment after appointment, the folks here go above and beyond. From taking the time to schedule a convenient visit to remitting payment, the process prioritizes efficiency and competence. We're a brood of two older pitties and one new young cat, and I feel like our pets are loved and cared for.
I also can't say enough for the grooming team. Lisa's attentiveness and sincere love for my dogs makes it my favorite monthly ritual. I leave them with her, filthy and eager (they get lots of love and treats!), while I get lunch in E Passyunk or shop the Italian Market for a couple of hours. In love.
Lastly, as some have commented, I've also noted a change in staff this last year, and I'd hope that some flexibility and patience during a never-ending global pandemic could afforded to everyone in the service industry. Send them bagels or pizza sometime to say thanks.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Nov 15, 2011Previous reviewrather than reiterate everything that everyone else has already written (as it is all true), i'm going to click on 5 stars and get on with my day.

I have been going to companion since the days the doors opened and 5 stars wasn't enough for how amazing the place was.
Fast forward the past two years and the experience there has been overly frustrating. Rude staff, mixed up appointments, wrong instruction on meds, canceling appointments by mistake, misdiagnosis, doing blood work on my 2 dogs and MIXiNG THEM UP causing me to spend thousands of dollars on the wrong dog.
I had new blood work done elsewhere to find out that companion mixed them up.
My puppy even had a liver biopsy and the doctor made an 8 inch incision on an 8lb dog for no reason. And pulled all my other dogs teeth out and he shouldn't have even had the surgery with how sick he is.
On Friday, I showed up for a groom and the techs made another mistake and put me in for nail cut. Making me have to take my dog home and an hour and a half late for work.
This place has become a nightmare. The only reason I stayed so long was for the groomers (which I yelled at and I am sorry because I love Lisa and leslie) but my frustration with this place escalated to the point I yelled and at the wrong person to boot.
I am now going to another place that has all of the wonderful employees that left companion and I am relieved to finally be done.
Update for Nicole's response.
I don't think getting upset standing in the pouring rain at 730am for a groom that your techs didn't schedule properly isn't unjust for raising my voice and saying that I am sick of how unprofessional your business has been. This wasn't the first time either. I raised my voice once only once. Maybe you need to listen how your staff talks to people and how passive agreesive they are even after they know it was their mistake.
On Friday I requested all of my dogs medical records after this happening 1 to many times... I have hundreds of emails to even confirm this. Its really sad that this place was destroyed by you and your new team.
Do all of your clients know that all of your staff and doctors that we loved all left ? I use to love everyone there and I have made good friends with the staff that left. Plus, the staff where I am all going also left.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 2Business owner information

We at Companion do not tolerate a client repeatedly yelling and being hostile towards staff. We are sorry this professional relationship did not work out. We wish you and your pets all the best!
