For anything from watch battery replacement to tricky repairs, you can't do better than Colliers.
Walking into this narrow space, you'll be greeted by the great guy who runs the place. He's the sole proprietor. An older gent, likely wearing his jewelry loupe, ready to magnify your watch and open a can of fix-a$$ on it.
Damn he knows watches.
It's a place of old-time craftsmanship, the likes of which are sadly vanishing across our vast city.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Ebs B.Chicago, IL239320438Mar 24, 2011
Went here to get my new Ebel watch sized (since it was ordered online, I had to find a place). Now, I could have gone to a high-end, stuffy, "I'm going to try to upsell you a bunch of crap" store... Instead, I went to a great guy who sized my watch in 5 minutes flat took care of me like I was a regular customer, and didn't charged me less than other places would.
If anything happens to the watch, you better believe I'll be coming back to see my new buddy.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sarah S.Ellwood City, PA437Nov 14, 2010
My Bulova watch stopped working and after several battery changes I realized this would not fix the problem. After taking it to some jewelry place on jewelers row who told me i needed an "overhaul" for 100$ and it would take 3 weeks i decided to get a second opinion.
Collier to the rescue. After fixing my watch in about 3 days and then keeping it for a week to ensure their work was flawless my watch was fixed. 20$. Problem, there was water in my watch!
Not only efficient the staff is extremely nice. In fact the owner reminds me of an older version of Adam from Mythbusters.
Don't go anywhere else for watch repairs!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Willie C.Milwaukee, WI51636Sep 3, 2009
I've had a broken watch for almost 2 years, and I finally decide to get it fixed. Collier's takes care of business. New battery, new crystal, and one new crown for just over $40. Pretty good deal. Not to mention he had to custom cut the new crystal (the original was a curved "bubble" of glass...the new custom one is similar but different, and I actually like the look of it more).
Anyway, highly recommended. If I'm in need of any future jewelry/watch repairs, I'll be headed here.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Bud B.La Grange, IL03Feb 10, 2011
My 10yo Omega Seamaster stopped ticking so I went to a 'high end' jeweler in a suburban downtown where I had brought it for service before. Last time it stopped, I payed $200+ to get it cleaned and working again. This time they called back with a $900 estimate. What! The watch isn't that much more than that.
I started shopping around on Yelp for an alternative in the city and found Colliers. Dropped it off last Friday, was told it would be a week. Never discussed what it would cost which I maybe should have. Three days later, I get a call that it is ready. Picked it up today and not only does it look like a new watch -- completely polished -- but best of all it was actually ticking again.
The damage - $75. I also got a little education. Mechanical watches like my Omega need to be clean and oiled every 3 to 4 years. Thanks for the great service and reasonable price Homer!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Erez Y.Somerville, MA3429711Jan 6, 2012
Awesome service. I bought a $30 steel band for an old watch. The owner spent 20 minutes filing the band to get it to fit properly and charged me nothing for labor.

Collier's is like stepping back into the old world where likes like craftsmanship, customer service and knowledge mattered! On Wabash you certainly have a variety of options when it comes to jewelry repair - but look no further than the little jewelry shop nestled quaintly in the Pittsfield Building lobby. I've taken a number of small things to be repaired - from restringing pearls to earrings that needed to be fixed and they all have been expertly repaired! His prices are beyond reasonable, and its kind of fun to step into the weird world of the jewelry business on Wabash. African American owned and carries a huge selection of silver, vintage jewelry and watches.

They are great! I just had a battery replaced in one watch, and a band replaced on another. They did it while I waited, maybe ten minutes. All in for the leather band, batter, and service - $35.
Great service, great price.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
