3 stars is NOT a bad thing! Cake is always a good thing but there's good and then there's exceptional and for $10 a slice, it's really got to be exceptional.
I came here for wine and dessert with a couple locals one week day evening and really enjoyed the artsy, low light environment. As we opened the menu I thought they were selling full cakes rather than slices because all the prices were around $10 per flavor. While my banana hazelnut slice was definitely enough to split between a couple people I would have never payed that price if I knew what the size I was getting. The cake part taste like dry banana bread, the fudge strips made the cake, and the frosting was a little too thick and white sugar tasting for my liking, but didn't stop me from eating the whole thing (over 3 days).
The wait staff were a little distant and not extremely welcoming but I think that had to do with the artsy, high end seafood restaurant on the other side of the place, vibe. They were kind enough to bring me my hot water in a cool glass coffee mug so I could keep warm in the crazy air condition cooled room.
Overall, I wouldn't come back unless there was an art show or price decrease on desserts with more Gluten Free options. The espresso-tini looked really tasty though if you're looking for a unique drink to try with your overpriced cake and don't mind spending a a couple bucks.Helpful 15Thanks 0Love this 12Oh no 0 - Jason D.Monroe, NC548239Jun 2, 2019
Visited Collectors for the first time, finally.
We were greeted promptly at the door and sat immediately. Our server was great and took care of everything perfectly answering all of our questions and offering suggestions. We had 2 apps and 2 main entrees, all 4 plates were tremendously prepared. We then each had cappuccinos and desserts which were very well prepared and delicious.
Looking very forward to our next visit.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Heather T.Myrtle Beach, SC7284129Aug 10, 2018

I'm really not sure what's been going on here recently but it has been a bit of a disappointment.
My wife and I have been going to Collectors Cafe for 10 years. This past week has been a letdown.
First the positive: The food is very good and always consistent. The wait staff is really nice and they are on top of things. I really have liked this place since the first time I ate there.
This week completely changed my opinion and it will be a long long time before we return. Don't get me wrong, the staff is still awesome and they are doing the best they can. I'm sure the food is still excellent, but there is something going on relating to managing the business.
We first tried to eat here on Tuesday, June 20, 2019 at 9:20 PM. There is a not so well made sign on the front door indicating they serve dinner until 10:00 PM even though the web site indicates dinner is served from 5:30 PM to 10:30 PM. Either way one would expect to be able to be seated at 9:20 PM. We walked in with no reservation and asked to be seated only to be informed that the kitchen had closed "about 20 minutes ago". Out of luck!
I learned my lesson and made reservations just a few days later for 7:30 PM on Saturday, June 22, 2019. We arrived at 7:15 PM and were seated at the bar to wait until our table was ready. We expected this since we were early and actually wanted to have a beverage before we sat down.
We noted people being seated while we waited but did not really think anything of it until 7:40 rolled around and we asked the bartender to remind the host we were still waiting. She did and the host came over after seating a few other folks. He apologized for the delay and by way of excusing himself told us there were people who came in and expected a specific table. I don't really understand how this affected us or how it was an excuse, but it telegraphed to me that there were more "important" people to seat before us. We were finally seated at 7:45.
Our waitress was awesome and really nice! We ordered an $86 bottle of wine, a glass of beer, and an $18 appetizer which was really good. At some point the waitress indicated the kitchen was running a little behind so there would be a slight delay in getting our food. No problem!
To make a long story short, 9:00 PM rolled around and still we had no food! I told the waitress we would pay for what we had purchased (which by this time now included 3 beers) and leave because I was not going to wait any longer.
She was obviously concerned about this decision and while preparing our check ($147 with tip and no entrees BTW-so I expected excellence) one of the owners came over to apologize. He was nice but it did not change the fact that 1 1/2 hours after my reservation we were still not eating our entree. He did try to throw the waitress under the bus though by telling us she should have told us there would be a delay in getting our food.
She had actually shared this with us after the appetizer was consumed and the wine was half gone.
But guess what happened then? Our food suddenly showed up! The owner asked if we still wanted it and I told him that time had past. It was clearly an attempt to make me feel guilty for refusing to wait any longer. He also stood in an odd position while talking to me. He stood behind me when he easily could have stood beside the table as our waitress had done. I had to turn around in order to look at him and I wondered if this was a purposeful position choice on his part.
While I'm sure the food would have been excellent as it always is, I simply lost my patience. It was unforgivable that we were not eating our main course 1 1/2 hours after our reservation. Perhaps this would have been acceptable in Europe, but certainly not in the good ole USA.
I share this experience in hopes that the owners understand the impact of whatever is happening in the management of the business and quickly take steps to resolve the issues.
It will be a long time before we give it another shot.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Colleen S.Richmond, VA15412351Nov 10, 2019
This is a cute little dessert shop and bar located right outside of the Marriott Timeshare. My brother and I enjoyed Cheesecake, southern peach cobbler and a few drinks. The prices were on the higher end ($10-$11) per dessert, but pretty consistent with competitors in Myrtle Beach. This was a great one time experience, but a little pricey to keep me coming back.

Honestly, whenever I heard of Collectors Cafe, I assumed it was kitchy collectibles like bobble heads all over the place. Turns out I was wrong and I can't wait to come back. Full disclosure, I was only here for a couple drinks at the bar so I didn't get a complete experience. Based on my short time there, I really liked the place. The art all over is super cool and some of it's pretty reasonable on prices too. The staff were great as far as answering a couple questions about the art as slinging drinks our way in a crowded bar. I would definitely stop in for drinks and art again but I'd love to try the food next time too!

I'd prefer this place over any other fine dining establishment. This place is far from boring with plenty of art to look at while enjoying the perfect ribeye. I can't explain to OMG cake due to the fact that you NEED to try it yourself. It was perfect.

Dinner was incredible but dessert left a lot to be desired. We had done a lot of research prior to our vacation and knew the food her would be incredible but were shocked when we got our salted Carmel cake just to find it extremely dry and lacking flavor. The scallop cake as an app was amazing and we'd go back for that in a heartbeat. The staff and service were great, just make sure you go for something that'd sure to not be lacking in moisture for dessert.

Great coffees & teas, awesome home made desserts, & even better food for both lunch & dinner.
You can sit in the bar area or table seating throughout.
Great art to look at & friendly staff.
Depending on what you're looking for, you can end up with a very reasonable check for coffee / dessert / a drink or 2 - or a check you'd expect from a Michelin star restaurant.
And you wouldn't even feel bad about that, because the food is so good!
Not much more needs to be said, everyone already knows this place is absolutely excellent.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
