Q:
I am looking for a small 14 to 17 ft Pontoon Boat. A small electric boat is what I am looking or. Or possibly a an electric pedal boat. A 17 ft Paddle quest is something I would like to look into. Used is fine?
A:
Hello Sandra. Thank you for reaching out to me through our Yelp account. Unfortunately I don’t represent the Quest products, I have have ever had one in stock new or used. But you never know when one might show up… more

Clark Marine is great! Had purchased our Avalon pontoon boat a couple years ago from them, and have used them since for service & off-season storage. Always very responsive and super friendly.

I bought a pontoon boat here in September of 2021. I was very impressed with the amount of time that the owner, Rob Brown, took with me during the sales process. I did not put it in the water until spring of 2022 when they sent me out with Derek from their team to teach me how to run the boat. He spent a whole morning on the water in my boat with me going through all the controls and the details like how to put on the seat cover, how to adjust the engine, how to run the Bluetooth stereo, etc. He was amazing. Now they are going to put the boat in the water for me as soon as I have my mooring ready. They have been so great to work with, so accommodating to my schedule and so friendly. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone in the market for a freshwater boat. They are so friendly, helpful, service-oriented and professional.

Sloppy service work, horrible customer service for parts. Don't bring a nice boat here. They damaged my boat rather than fixing it!
I recently purchased a used, near-mint, Crestliner and contacted Clark Marine for a bunch of miscellaneous parts (e.g., manual, bimini curtains, 4th seat) and to transfer the warranty, which you can only do through a dealer. Long story short, service department did a hack-job (see picture) and didn't fix the problem, the parts department was lackadaisical to be nice about it, and it all culminated with a bizarre interaction with the clearly defensive owner when I picked up my boat. (In the past I've used Bamforth Marine or Yarmouth Boat yard for repairs/maintenance on my 30 year old Bluefin Sportsman. They both did meticulous work and provided great customer service. Can't recommend them enough.)
Service: Issue was boat flooding through the livewell intakes. Not a slow leak, boat floods in minutes. It would have sunk without the bilge pump. To try to find the leak, at home I had filled the boat 1/2 full of water (well above intakes) cranked the trailer jack up and down, and there were no leaks. Plugged the exterior stern intakes and tried the boat in the water again, and absolutely zero leaks. I shared this info with Clark service people and stressed that the issue only happens when in the water. Set up appointment 3 weeks in advance thinking they would do a thorough job and test it in the water rather than repeat the tests I already did. Go to pick up the boat and they tell me that they've caulked the external seals. Said they flooded the boat and only found minor leaks, which I had already done at home and was clearly not going to diagnose the issue. They never tested the boat in the water, and have no idea if it's a broken housing on the intake pump causing the leak. I express my surprise to the service mgr and ask if he could do a test on the lake. Says too busy, I say OK, I'll have to take my business elsewhere from now on. When I pick up the boat, the owner Rob comes out, raises his voice and talks over me when I explain that I already flooded the boat and had it out on Moosehead Lake the previous weekend with the intakes plugged, with no leaks. The interaction with Rob was a combo of bizarre and aggressive. When I get the boat home, I noticed they did a hack job on the intake. Caulk all over the place and the inside of the intake is partially shredded from when I assume they removed it. NOT ONLY DID THEY NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, THEY DAMAGED THE BOAT!!! Put the boat in the water and it flooded just like before...
Parts: Parts contact person was pretty unresponsive and lackadaisical to deal with. Initially contacted them on September 21, didn't hear back until Oct. 5th despite emailing a couple times to see if they received my email. Finally got a general quote (no info on specific parts, just lump sum total for everything) on Oct 12 after several check-ins. While frustrating, this was really only a minor issue provided they could eventually give individual prices and get the right parts ordered. The service department damaging the boat and bizarre/aggressive interaction with the owner are what prompted this detailed review.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jenn J.Monmouth, ME5101Jun 3, 2014
Clark Marine is a quality business. They not only care deeply about the quality of their service, but their sales team is top notch. Every person who walks through the door is greeted and their needs are met; they even welcome dogs!
Can't say enough about this company.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Charles G.Andover, MA664May 29, 2015
We love these guys. They come every fall and pick up our pontoon boat, store it for the winter, clean and service it, and then deliver it to our dock in the spring.

Made an appointment 4 weeks in advance to
Get a simple repair done on the boat was assured
It would be done the day we Took boat in,after
Many broken promises and runarounds we
Were able to get the boat 6 days later we had
To forego some of the repairs to even get the boat
We were given lots of promises but none were
Kept. This place lacks any type of integrityHelpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Mike C. I regret to hear of your disappointment with my company.
By our records you made the appointment on June 28th, dropped your boat off on Monday July 15th, it was completed on Friday July 19th and picked up on Saturday the 20th. Sad as it may sound, this is a reasonably good turnaround time for July.
I apologize for any misperceptions that you were lead to believe. I hope in the future if you are back in Maine you offer us the opportunity to redeem your confidence.
Be well,
Rob Brown - Norm C.Saco, ME471Oct 5, 2017
The best in customer service by far!!! We bought our boat from them at a boat show at a great price and they have been true to their word about service!. We live southern Maine but always make the drive to Manchester to have our boat serviced by Clark's. Keep up the great work guys!!!

Hello Norm & Chip, Thank you for the nice review. I am very pleased to hear that we have been meeting your expectations.
Our goal of course is to make sure our pricing is very competitive up front although our focus is always on service after the sale.
Again thank you for the nice review, we look forward t a long service relationship. Rob Brown. - Ginny A.Stoughton, MA222Jun 21, 2017
Huge thank you to Clark Marine and especially Derrick. They took care of our boat problem and had us back fishing in a very timely manner. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. Will recommend this company anytime.

I am very disappointed with Clark Marine, First I showed up to drop my boat off, Not even two years old and they told me they could not service the boat , after a discussion they said okay they can drop it off and I told them it would be okay if it takes a while as I know they are busy, and they said they could get it done in 2-3 days, I picked the boat up after a service and they found no issue with the steering and many who have driven the boat says it not nearly as smooth as their crestliner, They had to replace a relay and switch that are sealed ,after less then two years in only fresh water, makes you wonder what else will go wrong , I can say this is the worst support I have seen, worse then airlines. I am going to send this review to boat manufacturer as they should no about the service and quality of the components after such a short period of time, could never recommend this place to buy a board or service a boat.

Dave M, I am disappointed to hear of your extreme disappointment with my company. If you were this upset why did you not tell me as I was helping you hook up your boat this afternoon in our front yard?
I agree that the corrosion of the two electrical parts we replaced appeared excessive for the age though under certain conditions these things happen. The corrosion looked to be more like what we see with salt water exposure though I take you at your word that you have not used your Crestliner in the ocean. We will retain the parts in the case Crestliner would like to inspect them on your behalf.
In our defense, this time of the year our schedule is full. We take all service appointments on a scheduled basis only. Where you had purchased your Crestliner from us here at Clark Marine we accommodated you without an appointment.
Your Crestliner was here, unscheduled, for a total of 27 hours and 30 minutes. You dropped your boat off on Thursday May 4. 2017 at 9:46AM and you picked your boat up this afternoon Friday May 5, 2017 at 1:16PM, fully spring commissioned and with repairs made to your electrical system.
Up to this point we had not seen your boat for any type of service since you took delivery of it on May 19, 2015, almost 2 years ago.
As for the steering, our servicing technician inspected the system and found it to be firm though similar to others of its type. There are very limited adjustments to the no feedback steering system. If you would like to take a ride with one of my certified technicians to see if there is anything we can do without altering the manufacturer specifications, we will do so at no charge to you. This would have to be a scheduled service.
Again, I am sorry to hear of your disappointment. I am willing to work with you to regain your trust.
Dave, the Airlines,....really? I respectfully ask that you reconsider the rating you have given us and please offer us another chance to get right with you. - Paul C.Oakley, Cincinnati, OH0311Aug 19, 2015
This a great business with great people! The customer service is tip top and they will go above and beyond for you. I am a resident of Ohio and was taking ownership of my uncles boat as he purchased a pontoon boat from Clark Marine. Nancy worked with the state of Maine for weeks to get the boat registered in my name. We vacation in the area for a short period of time out of the year. Both boats were delivered clean and ready to go! My only wish is that they operated a marina in the Cincinnati area! Thanks so much Clark Marine.
