We came in wish a reservation and were seated quickly. Service was on the slow side, in fact, I think there may have a been a mixup between servers, as to whose table it was.
Anyway, our server was nice, just slow. We received our food, but had no silverware.
I had the Chinese Chicken Salad, it was decent, but I've had better. We also ordered fish tacos and fish and chips. They were both nothing special. I was in town visiting and this restaurant was sort of a bore.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Not a bad experience here, typical steak restaurant nothing too spectacular, the menu was easy to navigate through and not over stuffed with so many combinations that would tend to confuse most blondes. ;-)
I ended up with surf and turf, and along with a visit to the salad bar I felt satisfied, the cost was In my range and the service was adequate.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

THE SHERRIFF: BONED-IN RIBEYE
Normally when I go to a chain restaurant I get a specific dish. In case of Claim Jumper I get the Beef Rib Supper, which includes four ribs. On Friday March 8 I was at Sacramento to watch the CIF State Boys Basketball Division 1 Championship. Once I arrived at Sacramento I parked at a parking garage about 4 blocks away from the Golden 1 Center where the game was to be played. I wanted to get an late lunch/ early dinner before the game as I had not eaten throughout the day. I walked around J Street to find something to eat. However I didn't want to go eat too far away from Golden 1 Center. I passed by Claim Jumper. Then I proceeded to pass by other eateries. Without delving too far away I decided to go Claim Jumper.
When I looked at the menu the Beef Rib Supper that I had been accustomed was not offered. There was an item of beef rib but it was only one rib. My server stated it is the biggest beef rib he has seen but he said it is only one rib. For the price of that one rib, which was $24.99, I might as well buy steak. I asked for his recommendation and stated the steaks in particular the boned-in steaks. On the menu there were two boned-in steaks: porterhouse and the Sheriff, which is a 21-oz ribeye. I decided to get the Sheriff as it was the closest thing to the beef rib. For the two side orders I decided to get grilled asparagus and rice pilaf. I also ordered the strawberry lemonade for my drink and a small order of fried zucchini as an appetizer.
The fried zucchini were cut in thick wedge similar to those steak fries you see at other restaurants. Unlike steak fries that tend to be soggy the fried zucchini were crispy on the outside and moist inside. Even though the evening wasn't warm the strawberry lemonade was refreshing. Since steak at restaurants tend to be expensive I am willing to pay more for a boned-in steak. Most of the time when I order steak it is medium-rare. I was glad with my steak was it was flavorful due to the charred grill marks and redness of the meat. Even though the steak was delicious I won't say it was one of the best steaks I ever had. The grilled asparagus and rice pilaf made this dinner filling. My dinner was delicious but nothing outstanding. I would say if you are attending an event at the Golden 1 Center and don't want to buy the food there going to Claim Jumper is a good option as it's close by.Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - Apr 23, 2018
We received a free order of cheese bread to start things off; it was really quite tasty, especially the cheese on top of the bread. We split the Widow Maker Burger and Mozarella sticks, which were so big that we were really happy that we ended up splitting our food, since even though we split the food we were in a food coma afterwards. The fries and mozzarella sticks tasted very fresh. The burger, however, was way too tall, so it was difficult to take a bite out of it without it falling apart. The sandwiches (which includes fries) ranged from $14 and up, which was more expensive than I thought it would be.
The restaurant was about half-full on a Sunday afternoon around 2 pm. The service was just okay. Our waitress was fine and she came and refilled our drinks and checked on us. However, as we were leaving one of the waitresses greeted the group of guys in front of us as they left. We were right behind them but she didn't even acknowledge us and just looked down as we walked by. I couldn't help but feel we weren't wanted at the restaurant or the woman was just really awkward and not used to greeting *all* people. I'm not sure what it was, but it was bizarre to experience that and also uncomfortable. It took me a while to go to this place but after that, it'll probably not make it a point to go there again any time soon, even though the food itself was pretty good.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 9, 2018

I'm rating it base on the food that I order which is the meatloaf served with mash potatoes. I dig in taste the flavor but as I chew it chowing down, it wasn't good. And I like meatloaf!!
Maybe I need to eat a bite with the mash potatoes and I did. I give a couple chance of Bite into 1 slice of the meatloaf and I just couldn't do it. I ask for a box and took forever just to get the box and when the box came I change my mind as much I hate wasting food but shit it's wasn't good meatloaf. Wasted my money.
Our table server/service was alright but however took forever to check us out wtf...(I was annoyed that my to go box took forever already)
I mean im sure this place isnt thst bad thatS why I added the .5 hopefully to come back and try something good on their menu.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Sep 4, 2019
We were in the area visiting family and were famished so we decided to stop into Claim Jumper for dinner. We sat at the bar area which had plenty of tables and chairs to choose from. Our waiter/bartender was Bobbi who was really friendly and accommodating. I ordered a glass of red wine off of the happy hour menu, he ordered the margarita the first was a little lite so he decided to make it a Cadillac. We shared the wedge salad which was really good! I ordered the blackend pasta which comes with bow tie pasta and chicken...it was a really hearty, flavorful dish however the pasta seemed a bit over cooked and mushy. He ordered the salmon with grilled shrimp with a side of asparagus, baked potato and mac n cheese, overall the dish was really good.

Because I had a good experience here 1 year on a Sunday 2018 in the afternoon; I decided to take my friends here Sunday, 10/13/2019 for her birthday for dinner. It was only the 4 of us. We checked in at 4:30pm. The place was pretty quiet and not many people there. I was thinking with it being so quiet, service will be great. Boy was I wrong! Our experience here last night?
Pros:
1) food was great. Delicious.
2) bathroom still clean as ever. Love a clean bathroom and well stocked.
3) restaurant was very clean.
4) because I made reservation at 4:30, we got seated right away.
Cons:
1) took 20 to 30 minutes for us to get our water. Just water, mind you.
2) they dropped off our water and took forever to come back to take our dinner order. If I estimate it, 20 to 30 mins wait.
3) we had only 2 silverware on our table for a party of 4.
4) took another 30 to 45 minutes to get our 4 meals. Still no silverware. We asked for it.
5) 15 to 20 minutes later, still no silverware. So we grabbed another worker. They got it for us within 3 minutes.
6) After our meal, I asked for a to-go box. Waiter says he'll get it. 30 minutes later, nothing. So my friend grabbed another worker. He got the to-go box within 5 minutes.
7) I brought a cake to celebrate my friend's birthday. We asked for clean silverware and 4 small plates. That took quite some time to come out. I was joking with my friends im going to hold the plate of cake up to my face and pretend to eat it with my mouth when the waiter comes by so it'll remind him we asked for silverware. The dirty ones we used to eat our meals was taken away already. I shoulda kept my dirty silverware for cake.
8) our waiter never came back to check on us if we wanted more water refill. I was pretty thirsty. He only came once.
9) there's more to all of our disappointing night of waiting for everything, but I'll end it here. You get the point. It was a lot of long waiting.
I understand they may have been short staff this night. The waiter could have let us know. Not a peep from him. But I was mighty disappointed with the wait of everything. People that came after us, got their meals and left before us. We got there at 4:30 to 4:35pm. We didn't get done till 8:30pm!!! 4 hours to get served at a restaurant is way too long! Then we used an additional hour just to chat till 9:30pm and we left the restaurant.
I loved the taste of the food and so did my guests. But the wait for everything was not good. Not good at all. Thus the 1 star this experience. I use to recommend this place to everyone. Now, I'm going to be a little more cautious about recommending it.
I'll give this location one more try on a busy night to see how it goes. But last night was a total disappointment! Maybe you had a better experience on a busy night than I did. Please share your experience.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Sep 16, 2018Previous reviewWe came for happy hour. Happy hour is all day Sundays. Great place. They got sports going on TV, drinks, good food. Our experience...
Pros:
1) Open seating in bar area, with plenty of open seating
2) Not crowded
3) Very nice waitress
4) quick service
5) waitress checked on us several times to see if we needed anything
6) food came quick. Food was good.
Cons:
as this was a slow day there, the is no cons. Everything went great. We had a good time. I am not sure how it'd be if it was busier or dinner time.
We will come here again and recommend this place to people. - Jae R.Sacramento, CA1881674610Aug 22, 2019
Good happy hour spot
spacious, good service, great deals
but with meh-ish food
Menu extensive
with happy hour offerings
so much to choose from
Friday around 6
place was not really busy
how do they survive?
We sat at the bar
bartender very friendly
service was ok
There's grilled fish tacos
on their happy hour menu
a rare sight to me
Came recommended
but we felt a bit misled
it was just okay
3 dollar pretzel
with two different cheese dips
big, but not special
Beef sliders boring
about blah as they can be
came with side of fries
The salsa and chips
tasty, crispy, spicy, huge
only 2 dollars!
Insides felt alright
with lofty interiors
and classic decor
Bar shows use and wear
but kept clean and so felt fine
not a fancy joint
Could return with group
if someone suggests it
wouldn't be me thoughHelpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0Business owner information

Came in here to meet up with my cousin which i hadn't seen all year and his new GF. was greeted immediately by a host who told me how to find my party. Once i sat down a BEAUTIFUL waitress by the name of Nicole came over and greeted my daughter like family. She talked, played and made sure she was satisfied with crayons and coloring book. It was great she really soothed my daughter for me all this and she said she was in the midst of getting off her shift. I LOVE a place that treat you like Family thank you Nicole for being AWESOME and oh who was at the bar who i spotted only KCRA Sports finest Dale Rodgers... hahahha Tag your it !!!!

We came here for a family dinner, specifically a birthday dinner. It was my first time, but everyone else had already been here before. We had made reservations, but I don' t think it was necessary. The place was pretty slow. There was a few tables that were occupied, but alot of the elderly crowd.
Our server emphasized on the freshness of the food and any leftovers would be discarded daily. I know, I suggested the food shelter, but the guy says no, because of lawsuits if any thing was to happen. I ordered the meatloaf and it was just okay. I had higher expectations, and it came out mediocre. Hopefully business picks up.
**p.s. They bring out a small treat for your birthday.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0
