I don't understand why people write negative reviews complaining about how they wouldn't help jumpstart a car or let a family into the movie 30 minutes late to disturb other movie viewers, do the people who are writing the reviews not understand that they won't let you in 30 minutes late because you'll be disturbing the 50 people in the movie theater? or that these aren't mechanics who will jumpstart a car?

great movie theater cheap prices, none of the fancy seats you'll find at the newer movie theaters but if you just want to sit down and watch a movie it's the most inexpensive way possible

every time I come her I have a good experience and you will too

EDIT: the 1 star review about how staff wouldn't jumpstart their car has been removed

We had dinner before going to the movie and was thirty min late for the show and they would not sell us a ticket!!! We was willing to pay full price!!!!
I don't understand what difference it makes to them how much of the movie I had missed!
I thought it was very RUDE!!!!
      Unprofessional, just plain stupid really!!!!

I thought I'd offer a different perspective than those offered by the two Yelp 1-star complainers I see.

We've been patronizing this theatre since it first opened, and really, really like it - much better than driving to adjacent cities. Very clean, polite staff, and a great experience. Not once in all these years have I ever seen anything that would remotely resemble rudeness from anyone behind the counters.

Please keep in mind that we see one-sided comments on Yelp (this one not an exception, either!); therefore, assuming there is even a small grain of truth (possibly only in perception) in those offered by the extreme 1-star variety, it might be worth considering that those customers may have been aggressive and/or perceived as having been at risk of being unruly -not to mention that it actually IS very disruptive to have groups waddle in long after a film has begun. Indeed, other venues such as live theatre have similar late arrival restriction rules to avoid disrupting performances and/or the enjoyment of other paying customers who actually did manage to get there on time. This isn't your personal living room, people.

Furthermore, our experience has been that customers in this market/region are typically less disruptive and more considerate/polite, in general, than those in other markets - which translates to a markedly better overall experience. This is the primary reason we prefer Cinemagic. Perhaps there are just fewer 3-sigma individual problem-customer outliers in Athens than in those other places. In my experience over the last 10-15 years, the people who surround you are noticeably better-mannered (increasingly so over time) than many in those other adjacent markets - I don't know why this is exactly, but it is true. There is less cell phone activity, popcorn spitting, loud talking, feet-on-back-of-chair-ing (sic), etc. - just less of what is so annoying at those other places.

If we can see the film of interest at Cinemagic in Athens, then that is where we opt to go first. My advice is to try it, if you haven't already. Enjoy the show!

This was our first visit to Cinemagic and we were so impressed! The employees are super friendly, the ticket and food prices are very affordable and our movie seats were so comfortable with lots of legroom. The sound and picture quality of the 3D movie was great! We saw they also have a drive-in so we will definitely be back!

Small town theatre kept quiet & clean only complaint is that it doesn't carry some of biggest films when they come out have seen some small warm lovely pictures that I wouldn't Have seen anywhere else so it's a trade off . Come visit it very close to home Could use less sci -fi & teenage films !

I live in Athens, and I choose to go to Huntsville. I miss the owner, she was absolutely phenomenal. Sad really, I was a patron when all they had was a drive in. Went there last weekend (Saturday night) and only about 6 or 7 other people viewing a 7 PM show. So, if you are going for solitude, this is the place. Otherwise, drive to Huntsville.

      First to Review

I really enjoyed our visit to the Cinemagic Drive in movie theater. It was a lot of fun.
First off it's cheap. 5 for adults and 3 for kids. It's also got cheaper consessions then the walk in theaters. But the cool thing is that you can bring all your own stuff in your car. So it's really cheap!
The lot is level and has no pot holes. There is plenty of space to get around other cars.
You tune to 89.9 for the sound and adjust it in your car's stereo.
The bathrooms are clean. The employees were friendly and helpful. The place isn't a chain theater, so it's a local business to support! Yay!
There are trash cans set up for you to drive by and dump your trash on the way out, too. It was set up really well.
The movie starts at 8pm and the gates open at 7:30pm. It's right off of Hwy72 and is not far from the interstate. It's straight up 31 and left on 72 and left on Jefferson if you are coming from Decatur. It's super easy to get to.
We saw Leap Year there last night. That was a cute movie and had no sex in it and no real cursing, and is suitable for kids. I recommend going. I think they change the movie out every week or two weeks. Not sure. You can check online and get an email sent that keeps you updated on the movies. They also have indoor theaters if that's more your speed. The outdoor is so cheap! We can afford to do it every week at that price! I mean 13 dollars for 2 adults and a kid for the movies. Sweet!
