We love CiNe! Our second time dining here and I always feel like a movie star. The drinks
Are
On point,
Actually they are better then on point!!! My hubby, daughter and I came
Here for a quick drink and appetizer before meeting friends next door at Fuller House...I wish we stayed here.
The vibe is better, the drinks are way better and I feel it's more family friendly!!!! Definitely check this place out if not for the food, definitely the drinks, you won't be disappointed!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tiffany P.Downers Grove, IL4113101037Apr 20, 2016
Five stars to a place with excellent service and hella hot homemade hot sauce!
Their cocktails and margaritas are fabulous. If you're on the spicy rage, get the jalapeño cucumber margarita. It will burn your throat but ahhh so good!!
I like how they have all kinds of homemade sauces and they put their own spin on Mexican. I like to call it New Mexican. The enchilada had a brown sauce that was rich but also slightly sweet with a hint of cinnamon. The marinade on my steak taco was also well done with a tangy and flavorful pop.
All this would give them 4 stars but what pushes it to 5 stars is the AMAZING service. They made fresh chips for my friend with a gluten allergy and he didn't even ask for it! They were attentive, and our waitress was super friendly. She was also very knowledgable and catering about the drinks.
If you're in the west suburbs looking for spicy or just an awesome New Mexican place, try here!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - T M.Downers Grove, IL0753Jun 29, 2017Updated review
over the past year quality of service and food has gone down the drain. Sadly this used to be my favorite local Mexican restaurant
We won't be backHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 25, 2015Previous reviewTry the chips and salsa.
Personally I found the service below average, however it appears they need more staff and the waiter was doing his best with 10 tables.
I had the chicken fajitas ($16) and they were what you'd expect. Next time I plan to try one of the specials, which looked good.
Overall we had a great time... The decor is unique and interesting. - Oct 8, 2014
Where to begin.......
Food was terrible. Service was even worse. I'm not even sure I can call it service when almost no one came by the entire 2 hours we were there. We hardly ever saw a single waiter even though I noticed maybe 10-15 of them existed while walking back to the restroom. Not quite sure what they're up to, but it's certainly not waiting on tables. Also the food somehow took about 20-30 minutes even though no one else was ordering and it should be fast to cook up tacos and a burrito bowl. My burrito bowl fell short of even chipotle, and at twice the price. How they feel they can charge a premium for the worst Mexican food ever I'll never know ($12 for a burrito bowl). They serve it up with a weird hostile attitude, to boot.
You know that "the emperor's new clothes" story? I feel like the emperor right after he figures out he's naked. Got swindled fa sho. I WANT MY TIME AND MONEY BACK!!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Vaidehi A.Alpharetta, GA393105175Sep 15, 2017
I came here with a relatively big group of people. We were, for the most part, meeting each other for the first time. They did a good job of making us feel comfortable and we're very attentive during our meal.
The food was delicious. I would definitely recommend the table side guacamole and the churros! The portions were great and filling.
The interior and atmosphere was perfect for chatting and getting to know people. I will surely recommend this place for folks visiting the area!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Corey G.Oak Park, IL2530Sep 22, 2017
I've eaten here 5 or 6 time and tried different (and delightful) things each time. It's a tad pricey but its in Hinsdale (one of America's richest suburbs................
Highly recommended - try anything. The guacamole and chicken crepas are spectacularHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kristina B.Darien, IL20012045Nov 5, 2012First to Review
Yum! Having delicious mexican food this close to my work is going to be extremely dangerous! We had the opportunity to visit CiNe last week for their soft opening, and left full, happy, and very impressed.
The decor is beautiful, when you walk in, you feel like you are downtown. The restaurant itself is actually pretty big, don't let the entrance area fool you!
I'm a huge fan of margaritas, but only the kind that isn't made with any kind of mix - and CiNe makes a spectacular classic margarita. You can tell it's made with quality ingredients ( i may have had 5 or 6 and woke up with no hangover!), it has just the right amount of sweetness, ans has a kick without being too strong. I highly recommend trying this one out!
The basic guacamole is amazing - it has great flavor and comes with large chunks of avocado in it, which i love!
We tried out a few different things on the menu, all of which were perfection. I have been dying to go back since we left! We had:
-steak and chorizo tacos
-beef empanadas
-tostaditas
-pastor tacos (worth it for the pineapple salsa alone!)
-and of course, churros
The empanadas really stood out to me, the combination of the savory beef with a little bit of spice, and the delicate, buttery puff pastry was just wonderful. When I go back, I really want to try the carne asada and the fajitas.
This is a great local place for a tapas style meal, with very reasonable prices to boot. If I start not coming home after work, it's because I'm at the CiNe bar drinking margaritas and eating guacamole :)
UPDATE: the carnitas quesadillas are a MUST HAVE. Everyone I know that has tried them is totally addicted!Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Nov 28, 2012
CiNe. Wondering about that name? Well just take a look around if your Spanish is not up to snuff. CiNe is for cinema- perfectly apropos given the location of the newest addition to the Hinsdale eating scene is located in the old historic theater.
Enter on 1st street (plenty of street parking or there is a lot across the street or in behind) under the old marquee area. Inside- you may be surprised, as I was, as to how large the space is. A bar runs the length of the front room on the right hand side with plenty of high tops on the left. And as you proceed toward the back the eating areas get more intimate and there is even a "party room" in the back that will seat 50 of your closest friends for dinner or 70 standing for a cocktail party.
But back to the real star- the food! We ordered a wide range of the menu as is normally the case when I check out a new place. Our server, Diana, was just a delight! It was kind of like being waited on by a new friend as she was quick with suggestions of her favorites, showed us proudly around the space and even shared some personal stories that had us laughing at the table! Nicely done!
We started with the salsa and guacamole. The quac was delicious with big chunks of avocado and a creamy texture that had us both reaching for more chips.
As for entrees- we tried three of them- the enchiladas, which were lighter than expected as they were done with a crepe base, the steak, plated with avocado creme, onions and some tortilla chips and the chille rellano- which was stuffed with cheese and served in a wonderful sauce. Both were served with a small side of rice, peas and carrots which had the creamy consistency of a risotto.
And for dessert- the churros were a great sweet choice- with the chocolate dipping sauce the perfect complement.
And before I end- just a minute on the drinks. They have a cocktail list so I ordered one of their signature margaritas. This was a great choice as it was light (almost fizzy)- I kept looking at the list to see if they put carbonated something in it but that was not the case. Just a premium tequila that I really liked!
CiNe is owned by the same people who brought Nabuki and Il Poggiolo to Hinsdale which is great. Hinsdale has been devoid of decent restaurants for many years but now there are reasons to "eat local".
Dinner for two with drinks ran about $100 which is probably more than you might expect to pay for Mexican but you can't go into CiNe thinking cheap tacos and burritos. Rather- think of it as a nice evening out with upscale Mexican food served by some of the nicest servers around!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 6023751073Feb 13, 2014
Although the restaurant decor was nice, the service and food could have been better. The service was pretty slow because they had an all-in-one person (waiter, host and bartender) serving five separate tables at the same time. To make up for the slowness, we did get complimentary chips and guac/salsa. That was a plus.
I ordered three steak tacos off the lunch menu for $10. Now, I understand lunch portions are small, but I didn't realize that lunch portion sizes applied to tacos too. I'm not kidding, but the tacos were the most expensive I've encountered and the smallest sizes I've ever seen. The tortilla was the size of a person's palm. Not only that, the steak was dry too.
I would pass on this one.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Kelli D.Willowbrook, IL9181337Jan 10, 2015
Best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. We went on a Saturday night and didn't have to wait, but it's best to make reservations if you want a nice booth. They have valet service as well. Free wifi if you ask server for password. Staff is very friendly and helpful to provide suggestions.
Large menu- I ordered sangria to start which was very refreshing. We also got the spicy pomegranate margarita on the rocks which was delicious but definitely spicy. Would have been nice with mango or something to balance it. Table comes with homemade crispy chips and mild salsa. They can make guacamole at your table for $12. We ordered large side for $9 and it was fine but I like it mild.
We got chicken fajitas and cine steak- both amazing. Flank steak had poblano crema and it had a warm pepper flavor but not to spicy. Both come with rice and beans. Fajitas came with lettuce, sour cream, and tomatoes but very small portion.
For dessert you can get free churros for checking in! We also got the tres leches cake which is the best! Too small portion in my opinion but it was so soft and full of flavor.
Classy and modern ambience. Definite perfect date night if you're craving Mexican food.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
