This restaurant has a western theme and is so not p.c. I guess it's OKlahoma though.
Saltines were the only crackers they have.
I ordered the appetizer sampler which is fried mushrooms, fried zucchini, fried mozzarella sticks, onion rings and jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese. None of them were made in-house; I could go to Sam's Club and get the same things.
I also ordered a back potato. I paid an extra 89¢ for cheese and chives. Chives is a joke. They were green onions. The cheese was in a tiny little cup. Grr.Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - Dec 28, 2019
Well, I hate to have to do this but the time has come. Cimarron is no longer a dependable experience for a reasonably priced steak. The last couple of time coming here were not very good.
The service has been excellent, which used to be a low point honestly. They are quick and attentive. The food has been the issue. The salads have always been blah, but now the steaks are following.
I actually had to send back my steak because it was so tough. I order rare, so it was not burnt etc. My coworker also had to send one back for the same issue.
I dont know if they changed meat providers or what, but it is not the same dependable steak it used to be.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Daryl H.White Settlement, TX0188Jun 27, 2019
1 of the Worse Steak Houses I've been too.
4 other tables were sat , served before we were acknowledged , then we got up to get our own water.
Finally we were waited on. Ordered a steak , (it was ok for Denny's) a salad (lettuce and one tomato) $1.50 extra for 3 more.
$.89 extra for baked potato fixings.
Then I was asked about dessert. I'm thinking how can you mess this up. $5.49 for this Apple cobbler.
The container cost more ..... oh wait I might of been charged for that too.
I'm not being tight about the price. It's that every question was followed up by " Well that's a extra charge". The place has potential , and it's quiet with very few customers there.
Sorry to say this. Nickel and dime in your customers will happen once , You want repeat customers
GET SOME TRAINING IN THERE. THIS PLACE MIGHT OF BEEN GOOD THE FIRST 25 Yrs ,
STEP UP YOUR QUALITY.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 2, 2018
After seeing the ads for years, my folks thought they'd like to try Cimarron Steak House so we stopped by one recent early afternoon. The decor is pretty kitschy, with saddles, a wagon hanging from the ceiling and such. If it's been updated in the past two decades, you couldn't tell.
Being lunch, my folks each ordered the chopped steak - Lord, don't ask me why - while I went with the 12-ounce sirloin. The garden salads were fresh, crisp and drenched in ranch. The baked potato was pretty standard. The steaks left something a be desired. The best part was the smoky bark from the mesquite. The steak was cooked as ordered, but a bit tough. I know sirloin has a tendency toward toughness, but I sous vide top sirloin at home that's tender as can be. Don't get me wrong; I felt like I got my money's worth. But it lives up to its reputation as a place to get a cheap steak. Or a steak cheap. Or a cheap steak cheap.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Michael W.Piedmont, OK365149Jan 11, 2018
I'm cracking up reading all the self/proclaimed food critics reviews on the quality of the food. Especially the ones who ordered chicken strips in a themed steakhouse...
This is an old school steakhouse with great casual atmosphere and music for an affordable price. The quality and service are on par with the price. There are no French chefs in the back (as far as I know), they don't serve Kobe Beef, or have wine tastings for brunch. This is a working man's steakhouse where a good steak and a beer doesn't take a weeks pay.
The decor had been the same for 20 years, and I say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Jessica S.Luther, OK266234Apr 4, 2018
I love Cimarron Steak House you can get a good steak without breaking the bank. It's not the most fanciest place but I've always had good service and good food.
I usually get the cheeseburger and fries this also includes a side salad. Doc Holiday is my hubs favorite item to get.
Sweet tea is always on point and you can get bowls of pinto beans yum yum !!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Matka B.Northwest Oklahoma City, Oklahoma City, OK01820Jan 25, 2020
Wanted a light steak dinner out.
The 2 stars are for the service which was decent.
Asked for my steak to be medium pink and juicy inside but was well-done and too tough to finish.
Salad was served in a plastic bowl like a to-go supermarket grocery store salad and was served with a bowl of single serve crackers instead of bread.
Huge open seating area country music.
Perhaps for a quick lunch salad or sandwich but not a good steak dinner out (for me). Very casual dining. Probably will not be going back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 6, 2014Updated review
When it's good, it's great. When it's bad, you're reminded that you're getting what you paid for.
"Inconsistent" seems to be the most appropriate word for Cimarron. I've had great experiences. I've had not so great experiences.
When it's a great experience, you get a decent steak (and some sub-par sides) for an exceptional price and you leave satiated if not entirely stuffed.
When it's a not so great experience, you get a server who insults everyone at the table in an attempt to be cute and funny, gets your ticket wrong, overcharges one person, undercharges another, and when informed that she needs to correct her mistake responds with, "You guys can go ahead and figure it out between yourselves." ... (-_-) ...
Don't get the Cimarron rice. Don't get the free "Simmer-on" beans. Get your steak. Maybe balance it out with some green beans or something so that your bowels don't come to a complete stand-still. Ask for your salad dressing on the side. Eat your salad. Eat your steak. Eat your sides. Eat your overly starchy bread. Then walk out only $10 (more or less) poorer as your craving for dead cow subsides. For now.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0Jul 6, 2010Previous reviewMediocrity, thy name is Cimarron.
The decor and ambiance is about as classy as a Ford truck, so that's obviously not why you should go there. The low prices are the selling point for this steakhouse, and it's the cheap steaks that would make me want to come back. The steaks themselves aren't bad. For the side dishes, emphasis is placed on quantity over quality. I decided to try the Cimarron rice; got a mountain of it to the point that It was actually falling all over the table-top every time I moved the fork or knife around. The rice was also duller than... I dunno, something dull I can't think of anything. The same was true for the fries that a friend had chosen. Throw in the large piece of white Texas toast garlic bread and you have yourself a bloat-worthy meal. We ended up taking almost all of the side dishes home because of the sheer excess. The green beans that my brother picked were disappointing (like all green beans I suppose).
The salad; I felt the urge to ask for more lettuce with my salad dressing. It was like a bowl of soft serve ice cream had been given to each of us and we were left to dig through to find some vegetables so that we didn't have to just drink the dressing by itself.
In summary: you're getting a lot of food for not a lot of spendage. The steak is good, the side dishes suck for the most part but you get so much that you won't be sad, and the service was really slow (15 minutes before our waitress even stopped to talk to us, although to be fair to her it looked like she had a bunch of other tables to take care of before we had gotten there). I'll be back when I need to carbo load prior to a marathon. - Cc F.Jones, OK54Dec 26, 2018
DO NOT GO THERE....
THEY REFUSED SERVICE TO OUR MILITARY IN UNIFORM & it has Poor poor service. The night manager is hateful. Your party can't be seated unless everyone is in attendance.
Military came in, watched them be ignored for over 35 minutes, they were in uniform as well. I offered to pay the tab, but they never seated them, I watched them walk out. What a disgrace.
The food is not any better. It use to be a nice place to go to but the last few times it has been going down hill. Not serving our Military was the straw that we will never go back and tell everyone we can the rudeness that was given to our nation's finest. First step is fire the night manager and change some attitudes to show hospitality. The workers don't even smile. Shit tolls from the top and the manager needs to be gone. If not you will close your doors soon.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Laura D.Southwest Oklahoma City, Oklahoma City, OK4011610Jul 20, 2018
First time here, will never return. Ever. Terrible restaurant. Few diners there on Thursday around 9, so why was our service so poor? We had to ask for napkins and straws thrice. Waited 20 minutes for meal. I timed it. Husband ordered medium rare. Steak was well done. See photo. As our waitress was impossible to find, we called over for the manager. She agreed it was well done. Offered a new one. But, as steak had arrived at time of restaurant closing at 10 PM, we didn't want to stick around for a new steak, especially as it took so long to get the first one. So, the manager offered to comp my husband his steak, but ridiculously, he had to pay $0.99 for the accompanying potato. Pitiful. They took the steak away, we left. The service was absolutely terrible. I was never offered a drink refill, waitress absolutely could not multitask...she was an extreme monotasker.
The manager never said she was sorry. And my fish was strictly ordinary. A bit dry, and flavorless. Why did we may waste our money and time on this place? Because we saw it on a commercial. The commercial was wrong. This restaurant is no good. We rarely complain about food, and we're big tippers, but not this time. This place sucks.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
