My baby boy was transferred to this hospital on Sunday night due to being hit by 3 different viruses. It's been a rough couple of days but from the moment we arrived to the ER, and places in our room, the nurses and doctors have been so amazing and caring about my little man. Not only caring for him, but myself as well. We're still here and it might be another few days but I am so grateful for the care he has received.

From check-in to check-out all the nurses, doctors, PAs, and staff were friendly and answered all questions/concerns.
All staff worked as quickly and efficiently to care for my child.
Nurses Emily and Heather were amazing! PA Kelly did an amazing job of caring for my child, even the xray tech Jeff was super friendly and attentive to us. Thank you for taking a very traumatic experience for my child and myself and making it one were she felt safe and sound.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sabina D.Huntington Beach, CA055Apr 17, 2024
Really disappointed with the hospital. My family and I went through a nightmare with one of our children. He had a splenic infarct and even though the Hematology department was very good and we know they have the best pediatric doctors in OC, the attention, service and the way they handle things and processes is really not good. It's crowned, messy, they lose documentation, communication between the thousands of different people that reach out to you after being discharged is insane and usually don't match with what the previous person said. Chargers are outrageous (the follow up consultations are charged apart and in many cases out of pocket and count as one night being admitted!?) even when you have
a very good medical insurance and unfortunately they start driving you crazy about the bills while you are and not being empathetic at all, without understanding that it's very difficult to deal with everything that it's going on when you have a sick kid.
Space is not enough, it's loud, sharing rooms make it impossible to sleep, rest and have privacy specially because the severity of the cases are not taking into account when they are admitting you to decide where to send you.
Parents bathrooms are dirty and full of hair from hundreds of people and it really doesn't help to the whole situation.
Doctors could be very good, but the hospitals are good when the whole system works for families, who are having most probably one of the most stressful and in some cases sad times of their life. We have been to a a few before and this is definitely the worst in a first world country, and no, nothing is for free, so there is a lot of room for improvement. We are thankful for the ones who helped our kid and for science, but we will never go back to this hospital.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 10, 20241 check-in
Had to visit CHOC recently for my son as I thought he fractured a bone-- long story short, he didn't, but our experience there was pretty good. I made small talk with some of the nurses who told me they weren't as busy as they usually are which made me question why it took us 2 hours to be sent to a room and then another 1hr and before the Dr showed up... but regardless, these things take time and I am grateful for the care we did receive.
Levy up front was taking vitals and was very nice and personable towards the kids. Carlos was our nurse once we got a room in the back and he was great. We saw Dr. Paul (I think that's how you spell her name) and she was good. Lastly, Jacob took XRays of my son and was talking my son and I through it all so everyone felt comfortable.
All in all, it was a positive visit.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - 12637Apr 16, 2024
This hospital is top notch!!! When we arrived on Saturday in Emergency we were greeted right away and grateful to get a room within ten minutes. I was prepared for a long wait but that wasn't the case. X-rays were completed within the same hour of arrival and my son's issue was reviewed and a solution was presented. We are so grateful for the doctors and nurses that have helped take care of our son. I was scared but he wasn't. They made him feel at ease and treated him like a human being. Thank you and God bless you all. GRATEFUL

We were here today for my kids surgery which required general anesthesia.
Check in was smooth at the lobby, as was the admission once they called us back.
They sent us to the 3rd floor where we greeted another check in counter. They moved us to a pre op room right away.
Then the wait began. Nurses and other specialists were very attentive and kind. My 8 yr old asks A LOT of questions, and everyone answered with kindness.
After the procedure was over, they called us back to the recovery area where we were met with more care and kindness.
Grateful for the staff today, and the ones who attended to him when he was here at the NICU years ago.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 21, 2024
We came to the CHOC ER for my child's broken arm, and she received wonderful care. The staff was wonderful, and yes, we waited about an hour in the waiting area after checking in. But once inside, my child was doted on for the rest of her stay (overnight). Everyone was so kind and compassionate, and the surgery went well. My only regret is that we left in a hurry, and didn't get to properly say thanks to all the nurses who helped us.

My experience at CHOC - ER was incredible. From the moment we arrived, the staff were compassionate and supportive. The wait was 3 hours which was to be expected at a busy trauma 1 ER, but once we were attended, the hospital staff worked amazingly with us. Couldn't be happier.
Much respect to the men and women that work here to keep our families healthy. Thank you so much!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
