    • Q:

How is the parking situation? Especially for Friday's night. Thank you.

      A:

Our rez was for 9pm and we found street parking around the corner. There's also lots you can pull into around the corner. But cars were pulling in and out on the street so give it a shot first.

This was my first José Andrés restaurant I went to, and I have to say it was a cool concept, although I didn't love all the dishes we had. The restaurant is very open and decorated well.

      We ordered:
Shishito Peppers - 5/5. Seasoned so well and nicely grilled.
Causa California - 3/5. Honestly tasted like nothing. Reminded me of baby food when it came to consistency.
Papas a la Huancaína - 2/5. Not my favorite -- sauce was a little bland.
Tam Tam - 5/5. My favorite dish. This was so good and the noodles were cooked perfectly!

We stopped in for a quick bite before an event and had a great experience. It was a busy Saturday night but we were able to snag seats at the ceviche bar.

      Atmosphere: busy, vibrant

Service: very good and very attentive. We let her know is we were headed to another event and Sri Ms and food came out promptly. 10/10

Food: we split the Aeropuerto. It was a fried rice dish with tons of veggies, eggs and crispy potatoes on top. You don't even miss the meat with this dish. 10/10

I've been here once before for happy hour but will be back for lunch or dinner!

Two of us enjoyed lunch at China Chilcano today. It was pouring rain on a weekday, and this place looked warm and inviting.

I had the set lunch for $28 which consisted of siu mai pollo, tallarin saltado de verduras (chow mein noodles), and suspiro limana (sweetened condensed milk custard topped with soft and crispy meringue and a passion fruit ice. My cousin ordered the shrimp donburi. The prices were extremely reasonable for the tastiness that was delivered to our table.

The service was very good. Our waiter, Franklin, patiently answered all our questions and all his recommendations worked out great. The space is very cute and cheerfully decorated.

The Chinese, Japanese and Peruvian flavors blend wonderfully. I encourage people to learn more about the history of how these elements found harmony with each other. It took a long time.

Another Jose Andre's restaurant off the list! It's beautifully decorated with Peruvian and Chinese/japanese influences.

My boyfriend and I tried their brunch special (a selection of 3 dishes) for $34 per person (weekends only). Unfortunately the bao buns were sold out but we had the classic ceviche, yucca fries, Peruvian chicken stew, a burger, and a variety of desserts.

Pricing wise it is a bit more expensive unless you go during a happy hour. Service was great. My boyfriend and I were in a bit of a rush so they were able to accommodate and pack some of our dishes to go as well.

Holy crap. Amazing. Every dish was delicious and came out hot. Favorites were the steam buns with the pork belly, the fried rice, and the sample of 12 dim sum. Service was slow at first but took off and did not disappoint. Really cool spot for dinner. No dress code. Kids must be adventurous.

Such a cute and unique restaurant!
We started off with the dancing yucca and it was good! I had never seen this combination of flavors, but we were pleasantly surprised. I didn't get a photo of concolon but it was really good. Def a lot of flavor, but I grew up eating Chinese sausage so I really liked it. The char siu platter was SO. GOOD. We also ordered the lomo saltado which was so good.
Oh yeah and the drinks were good too! I had a pisco sour with the passionfruit puree and it was light. So glad we stopped by here before we left DC.

Ah, I was excited to try China Chilcano since I've had great experiences at Jose Andres restaurants so far. However, this experience was not the best. My friends and I made a reservation a couple weeks in advance but it was not necessary since the restaurant was empty when we got there (early January, weekday)! We were seated on the left side on a wooden bench area. Upon sitting down and reviewing the menu, we realized there were a couple mosquitos flying around. I looked underneath the table and saw five more mosquitos chilling on my leg. We moved to another table but the damage was done, my legs were so itchy for the rest of the meal and I could not concentrate on the food! Why were there so many mosquitos in the middle of the winter in the restaurant?

As for the food, I did like it. We got the Lunch in Lima experience. I told the waitress I had allergies and she gave me an allergy menu that pointed out what allergens were in each dish. Our server was also very conscious of my allergies and would tell me which dishes I should not touch. I got the Siu Mai Pollo, Donburi Ji Song (without peanuts), and the Pondaraciones de Kiwicha. The first two Siu Mai and Donburi were fine. They were nothing special. The dessert was amazing! I loved the mix of banana ice cream and chocolate ice cream, and the texture of the spiral cookie was fantastic. Our table also got the Concolon to share but with the donburis it was a lot of rice and carbs.

It's really interesting how the restaurant is marketed as a fusion of Chinese, Chilean, and Peruvian... there was honestly the same amount of Japanese influence as Chinese influence on the menu. Donburis and Sashimi are Japanese. The dim sum fusion was interesting but did not stand out too much. I think the Lunch in Lima was a great deal but I would not come back.

We did the tasting menu here and had such a blast! It was a ton of food! We couldn't finish the food and had to take a bunch home with us.

Some of the highlights included the octopus, the table-side rice dish, and the giant swirl dessert. I wish I could remember what each dish was called.

The presentation of each dish was artistic and pleasing to the eye! We felt like they really paid attention to details.

Overall, this was a great dining experience!

I had an extremely brief, but questionable service experience here. My friends and I came in and were seated around 5:40pm on a Wednesday. We asked if they had happy hour, or "pisco hour," as they refer to it. The server told us she had to ask about that. That's the first weird thing. Obviously, as a server, you would already know if happy hour was happening or not.

After about 5min we were given the pisco hour menu. Pisco hour ends at 6pm. We thought it was shady that they didn't want to tell us about it in the first place just because it was 5:40pm.

The second unpleasant part is that after a round of pisco sours, we asked for the check to leave for our dinner plans. We just came for a quick round of drinks. I left a cash tip of $4 on our subtotal of $21. As soon as we stood up to leave, the women servers cleaned up our table and started talking and laughing with each other. I think they assumed we couldn't speak spanish. My friend speaks spanish fluently, and she said the servers were talking in spanish about us and how we only came for pisco hour and made sarcastic comments to each other about our tip. That felt disrespectful to me, especially right in our faces.

One of my foodie friends recommended this spot, so we stopped by for lunch. We were seated promptly and given menus. We decided to try the chef's tasting menu, but after asking for that, they told us that they gave us the wrong menu LOL.

To start, hubby got a glass of beer and I opted for a passionfruit water. My drink was refreshing! Then we shared the ceviche clasico, siu mai, wontons, and crispy bao buns. I liked the fusion of flavors, but menu was limited during lunch. We walked to a nearby restaurant to get more food afterwards.
