China Buffet

I'm a new resident to Hibbing (and Minnesota), and having been born, raised, and lived in mostly large metropolitan cities on the West and East Coast, I came in here honestly not expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised to find actual Asians working in here (I am half-Asian), and I found the food to be pretty good and on par with any typical Americanized Chinese buffet. There was a great variety of vegetable, meat, and seafood items, as well as an array of desserts, salad, and fruit. I saw many patrons coming in and filling a plate for take-out, and I think I will try that as well.

Service was friendly, and the prices were extremely reasonable. The interior is a bit run down, but the overall atmosphere is comfortable. There are two entrances - one facing the street and one in the back - so there are plenty of places to park.

My only real heartburn is that there is an aquarium with several fish that are way too large to be in it. The poor fish didn't have room to even move.

I hope China Buffet sticks around, because it's a great place to satisfy a Chinese food craving without breaking the budget, right here in Hibbing!

This place from first glance looks like it's in need of some serious upgrades. As you walk in you notice an aquarium which isn't a real shock to see, but the size of the fish in this small tank is really sad. There is roughly 20 fish and you can see that they are having a hard time swimming around each other. I'm not sure how old this place is, the site has only been on since 2022 according to the copyright. As you walk into China buffet you kind of feel like you walked back into an 80s style restaurant. The decorations seem to non authentic junk you could order online on amazon. some of the window shades were stained and broken, wall paper can be seen peeling on every wall and corner, some areas of the ceiling were covered with water stains from damage done to the roof either by last years snow or this years heavy rain. Either way it's pretty appauling. I believe our host may have been the only one to speak english and was really pleasant asking what we would like to drink, but that was the only time we saw her haha The ambiance wasn't very good at all. Along with the damage it's just really dim and dark inside. But all of that aside the food was really good. Each piece of meat and fish was cooked really well, the food was food was fresh, our salads we made were great. I don;t always go to buffet and get great food, but when I do I am pleasantly surprided. I can't say if I'd want to come back here regularly, but it would be a good stop every once in a great while. Friendly, Clean Buffet Style, or off menu take out or eat in. Such a nice family especially the toddler, he is adorable. Nice fish tank rounds out decor.

I got raw egg rolls. I called to have them remake them, and was given 4 more raw egg rolls. Upon first glance they looked fine but underneath the wonton wrappers were soggy and indeed undercooked. Was also given sweet and sour sauce mixed with fish oil after I complained. This restaurant is disgusting, never have I ever been satisfied when eating here. They lost their authentic Chinese food taste and I go to Duluth or Minneapolis for actual edible Asian cuisine. This is dog food.

An Excellent Chinese restaurant in a small town of northern Minnesota. Buffet line was well stocked and price was very reasonable. It was worth the 50 mile ride each way. I shall return.

Quite a few options, even for those that do not like Asian food. Food is usually pretty good. most of the time it's pretty fresh.

Very friendly waitstaff, we got seated at about 3:00pm, typical Chinese buffet, several food items had been there a long while. There was not very many people seated and a couple came in for the take out. So, suggestion would be make small amount at a time to try and keep cost down during slow time, and fresh enough for others. The magnolia beef sad to say had been sitting so long that it was dried out and getting a funny taste. Chicken wings where large but very greasy, egg rolls did not have much filling. The renewed items that were coming out fresh were good, so would I come back again, yes, and I would hope it would be a busier time. Then maybe change my star rating. I gave it two stars because of the very good sushi, not very creative but fresh tasting and tasty.

Friendly staff. Good food, nothing dry or distasteful. If you're looking for some cheap and good Chinese food this would be the place to go.

The staff here are very friendly and are quick with refills or to clean the table. The food... In my opinion... Is great. I've never had a bad experience here....but it is better to go during 11 am to 7pm because after that the freshness and quality of the buffet goes downhill a bit. Also after 5pm the price goes from 8 to 10 dollars for the dinner buffet.
