What a pleasant surprise spot we stumbled across while doing our laundry next door! We got the broccoli beef and the chicken fried rice. Their food is served family style. The broccoli beef had so much flavor it was nice and garlic-y. Their hot sauce that was on each table was spicy but flavorful. We ate way too fast. Thank you!

Ordered takeout. One Pork and one chicken. For $22 each. No rice included. Got home with two same chicken entrees. No flavor. Sauce had no taste. Like cornstarch and water. Soggy veggies. Don't waste your money.

TLDR; Solid Chinese food for the location, family owned for 20+ years in Maui, service is ok. Restaurant itself is old and bit dingy so I would recommend takeout.
It's a good placeholder meal if you want a breather for at least one meal from paying $50-80 after tip at one of the nearby yummy restaurants.
One of the few food options that are easily walkable from the Maui El Dorado complex. (5 min) Whaler's village isn't far either, at around 15-20 min depending on the route.
Kung Pao Chicken w/ rice on the side (8/10):
Not too salty while flavorful, you do have to order rice separately as the entrees appear to be a la carte.
Teriyaki Chicken, kids size (7/10):
Was gonna give this a 6 for not having any sauce, but realized it may be due to style of cooking. It wasn't bad, but lacked any caramelization or char, which is actually healthier but less tasty.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 14211435Oct 18, 2023
This location is not closed. I was able to order from Uber Eats and it came quick. That is the only positive that I can say. The kung pao chicken doesn't have any POW! It leaves much to be desired in terms of flavor. Also found some hard bits which almost felt like sand. The chicken and corn soup was super bland and the side of white rice was very dry and feels like day old rice. They were fast getting the food out but I won't be ordering from there again.

Must improve their service, quality and value. Lack of attention to hygiene and customer service. I tried to explain there was a grain of rice stuck in my fork, but before I could finish my sentence the waitress (owner?) grabbed it out my hand and walked away. Chow fun and won ton mien were not even close to the typical Chinese restaurant standard. They were prepared very different and did not taste good. Also the quantity of the chow fun was about half the size of a typical serving. The won ton soup was bland. However, the orange chicken was tasty. Overall overpriced subpar food and very poor service. I love supporting small businesses, but they really need to do better.

Not my favorite... the orange chicken here does not taste like panda express.. something else that i did not like but i am not chinese so maybe chinese people would like it.
The fried shrimp was not real shrimp and mostly batter.
The kung pao was pretty basic with less veggies than panda.. only onions but it was the best thing i tried.
A chinese tour guide brought us here so would not pick this place on my own.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Tyler O.Mililani Mauka - Launani Valley, Mililani, HI84154Nov 30, 2023
Came into the restaurant and was hot no a/c. We asked server if they had rice cakes and he was like hah whats that?? I'm like what kine Chinese restaurant is this?? Ordered the won ton noodle soup and was pretty disappointing especially since it was $18. Noodles tasted like spaghetti noodles , broth was bland and had broccoli, carrots, cabbage, and zucchini in it. Idk that's like stir fry ingredients to me. Worst part was there was a pipe above the table and was condensating from the humidity (no a/c) and was dripping on the empty seat next to me. Small kine pilau.
Gotta give these guys the yellow card.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - T H.Eureka, CA064Sep 15, 2023
I was leery about going to this place but work buddies really liked it. I tried the Kung Pao chicken lunch special with an upgrade to fried rice and it was amazing! It's not gourmet by any means, but pretty darn tasty.

Wow, we drove 20 miles to this restaurant and according to Yelp, it was open til 9 pm. When we arrived, the place looked empty. My daughter went in and there was a table blocking the entrance. They said it was for take out only that night. How disappointing. We just left and found another restaurant.

First of all this place is not a MICHELIN STAR restaurant so don't expect the service or ambiance. This place is for getting your grub on.
If you know anything about the Chinese restaurants in San Francisco China Bowl is a carbon copy of the many neighborhood Chinese restaurants in SF. Like in the Richmond, Sunset, or China Town. Which means shoddy service, & good food.
Don't believe most of the bad reviews. I've seen people complain about getting crappy silverware or plastic plates. Well no sh_t its a Chinese restaurant. If you want a fancy Asian place go to one of those BS Asian Fusion eats. I saw other bad reviews stating that the food sucked. Well I hate to break it to them but Chinese food is cooked from where the chef came from. Garnering from a lot of reviews people expected more of a cantonese style of cooking when the chef is from Northern China.
One of my fav's was the fried rice. It had that epic char wok taste. For some peeps that char taste = burned. IMO its hard to find that char taste of Fried rice and this place does it right on.
Another complaint was the price. Come on people. You're in Maui what restaurant/food truck there doesn't jack up their fkn price. You're in a tourist spot. Even, Micky D's is a bit more expensive from the mainland.
I think the funniest complaint I've read about was about service. I hate to break it to people who aren't use to real neighborhood Chinese restaurants but these type of places are notorious for their service. In other places people pay money to be treated that bad. Why do that when you can get it for free at places like this. To me its a type of entertainment. If it bothers you just take a deep breath, take it all in, suck it up buttercup, Relax, know that the people don't hate you but that's how a lot Neighborhood Chinese restaurants are. Kind of lost in translation. To them its just business don't take it personally. If it still bothers you go back to your Panda Express.
After reading some of the bs reviews of this place its no wonder people in Hawaii say "Locals Only Brah..."Helpful 5Thanks 1Love this 5Oh no 0
