Situated in the heart of beautiful downtown Saratoga Springs, Chianti Il Ristorante serves sophisticated, authentic Northern Italian fare in an elegant setting. Combining seasonal food, an award-winning wine selection, a welcoming and knowledgeable staff, and a detailed, inviting ambiance, Chianti provides every guest with a superb and unforgettable dining experience. Aesthetically inspiring, its rustic walls, hardwood floors, and green onyx bar invoke the authenticity of conventional Italian architecture while remaining slightly modern. The culinary philosophy at Chianti is based on a respect for tradition. With artisan breads and pastas, house-made sausage, dry-aged steak, and braised meats, it is culinary craftsmanship at its best. Our guests have the chance to savor fresh food, from a selection of expertly-sliced carpaccio, to a variety of wild fish, to risotto that is made only with Vialone Nano rice grown exclusively in Italy's Veneto region.

Thank you for the kind words! We're so happy you enjoyed your dining experience with us. Hope we'll see you again during the next Holidays !
Apr 22, 2019Previous reviewWOW! We haven't dined at Chianti for years, as we've moved away from the Capital District about 15 years ago; back in town for the Holidays, we decided to check out the "new" location on Division Street. What a great experience and terrific time: they say you can't go home, but in this case, you can and you'll enjoy wonderful food and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended!!

We are locals, we walked in, three seats at the bar, early, looking good.
To consider, we have been to Chianti (DK ownership) many times, had a rehearsal dinner and track dinner here last September for 25 and August for 15. Maybe we spent $7,000 in the past last year, gift certs for friends and family, who would have thought we would be treated this way.
Walked up to the bar, told by bartender that the seats were reserved, being a regular, obviously not recognized, I said do you take reservations at the bar? She said "well no but these are reserved", well the question is, they do not take reservations for the bar and are these seats open? They do not reserve at the bar, never have, the seats were open. So if you get pushed out cause the bartender has a "friend" holding seats and please understand this is not the DK policy, do not be intimidated by the host, he is a loudmouth, just walk out and walk away.
So as a regular (I tolerated below average food mostly pasta at high prices). Let me say, so many better places to go In SS. I was a regular because it is two blocks from my home. I will walk another block and soon to be next large party will be at the Adelphi. Many great places to dine in SS, the is a red sauce joint with marginal front staff and bartenders.

Hello Scott, I am sorry to hear that you did not have an enjoyable experience at Chianti during your most recent visit. While we do not take reservations at the bar if a guest has people joining them we do not stop them from holding a seat. I apologize that you were told the seats were reserved by us when in fact it was a guest that was holding them. Since you have dined at our restaurants you know that we try very hard to provide an exceptional dining experience for all of our guests. I will share your feedback with our team and clarify that DZ does not reserve seats and that the guest should have been the one who addressed you and not the bartender.

First rate, first class, and a wonderful restaurant.
Had arguably the best seat in the house right by the window enjoying Chianti Ristorante at its finest.
Wasn't super hungry that evening but we got a couple salads.
One salad was the Festa di legumi which included Navy beans, quinoa, beats (no chick peas though menu stated otherwise), lentil's, and parsley tabbouleh dressing. Very filling, very good.
The other salad was the Italiana Moderna. That included arugula, radicchio, roasted quinoa, lemon juice, olive oil, and shaved ricotta cheese. Decent and large portioned.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Came here from out of town and picked this place at random. We had a reservation and we were taken right to our table. Service was great, friendly and attentive. All the cocktails we ordered were very good, I particularly enjoyed the dragon orange cocktail. Yum! We got the Korean beef appetizer and the calamari, both were yummy. I would want them to turn that app into a bowl entree it would be really good that way too. I got the pasta with vodka sauce, really tasty with tarragon. My sister and friend got the pasta with shrimp with angel hair, while my cousin got the raw carpaccio with a Gorgonzola sauce. We all enjoyed our meals, perfect portion size. Not too much and not too little. I also really liked our waitress! Our reservation was for 6:30 and it was a little slow by 8 was getting very busy. We would totally come back for a fancy dinner here. Street parking!

We needed to reserve a table for quite a large group and thankfully Chianti's was able to accommodate us. We ordered the calamari as an app, and it was just alright (a little on the rubbery side, tbh). As for the spaghetti bolognese, I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was -- however, there was so much meat and very little pasta, that the dish seemed unbalanced. Oh, and their bread is solid too.
Side note: The espresso martini's are excellent here!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Really nice dinner and staff! The Korean BBQ app was by far the tastiest thing we ordered. The flavor was amazing! I ordered the lobster shrimp pasta and enjoyed that as well. I would go back!

Incredible food and kind staff. They were accommodating with dietary restrictions. Very warm, inviting ambiance that had a nice mix of groups and single patrons for a Sunday night. We will definitely come back if we are ever in the area again!

Saratoga is a very competitive location for restaurants. There are so many options for one to choose. We have a few favorite spot. The number of places we have not been to way way outnumbers we have been to. That being said we are always excited to try a new restaurant. The bar always will be higher just because it's Saratoga Springs.
The service was great. The waiter was very attentive. It would have been nice to have the specials written down as there were so many. The noise in the dining area also added to the fact that it was difficult to understand all the specials.
We all ordered drinks and they we delivered shortly after. Two of our party had a mixed drink. I had a taste of my wife's and it was very much on the sweet side for me. I opted for Jameson. They did have a large wine menu which I did not look at. I asked the waiter to bring it back so we could order a glass of wine with our main course. Unfortunately they did not bring the wine menu back.
Speaking of space. There were six of us, three per side. Three men on one side and three women on the other side. On the men's side the chairs were snug. Our friend on the end was more on the corner of the table.
I did not know (due to the noise) my wife and I ordered the same thing. We never do that as we try each others dishes. We ordered the shrimp risotto with escarole. The dish fell way short. I'm Irish and do not love garlic but have grown to enjoy and appreciate garlic as part of Italian cooking. The dish was bland. There were four normal size shrimp and two pieces of escarole. I finished my meal. It was good, but for Saratoga I expect much more.
My wife and I split the fig and goat cheese ice cream. I had to really reach to identify the fig. I could not identify the goat cheese.
There are many options in Saratoga. Unfortunately, there was not enough for us to want to come back.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - David D.Gloucester, MA018Jun 22, 2023
Modern, lively Italian restaurant located in downtown Saratoga. Arriving at our scheduled reservation time, we were given a warm friendly greeting and shown promptly to our table. The seating is fairly close together resulting in a noisy but fun vibe. We had plenty of space at our table and were able to have a conversation.
The menu was varied and supported by several daily specials. The appetizer highlight for us was the choice of three different preparations of carpaccio available in two sizes. We shared the Classico and Del Chianti enjoying them both very much.
The Spaghetti Bolognese and Risotto dishes were both very good as was the beef tenderloin with gorgonzola fondue. The Veal Chop off the specials menu was good, but nothing special.
Definitely plan to return again.
Note: While the restaurant is easily handicap accessible, the close tables could make navigating the room a bit tricky. I suggest mentioning any disability when making a much-recommended reservation. I did, and the staff accommodated me perfectly.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information
