This was a great, SMALL venue! We saw comedian Nate Bargatze here and I doubt there's a bad seat in the house. We were in about row 10. Great view.
Full bar in the back. Pricey drinks, but what you expect at a place like this.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 16, 2019
This place is beautiful. Old style but well maintained. Seating was great, sat to the side of the stage but had no problems seeing anything. Drinks were a but pricey but overall it was so much fun seeing the Golden Girls puppet parody!

I went to this theater for the second time recently. Both times were to see music tribute bands. The shows were both awesome and the theater has some beautiful historic features and details that you just won't find in a modern theater. Gold-gilded crown molding, private viewing balconies with wooden railings, and deep vintage elegance.
Now, for the negatives. First off, the seats. The stackable, slightly padded kind that are put into a row like at a modern church service. Somehow these pink "modern seats" take away from the beauty that is this vintage theater.
Secondly, the bathrooms. There is a Main Floor seats, a mezzanine and 2 balconies. The only existing bathrooms are in the basement. There is 1 small elevator if you don't feel like walking up and down 4 sets of steep stairs, however be prepared to wait approximately 10 minutes for this very old and very slow elevator that only holds about 6 people. Not a great theater for those with disabilities or the elderly.
There is a bar and you can take drinks into the theater. A single cocktail is $10 and a "double" $20 (but not that strong for $20).Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1 - Sep 28, 2019
I really enjoyed the play we saw at the Empire Theatre. It's a very beautiful place to see many different types of shows. The seating is comfortable but it's not made for people who a very tall. The view from mezzanine was nice and we didn't miss anything. I recommend checking out this place if you haven't seen a show there.

Y'all need go to Cornyation at the Empire. It is so much fun and a great Fiesta event that raises money for the San Antonio community. This non-profit organization also grants annual scholarships for college students majoring in the arts. It's an adult satire show about current local and national events. It was so witty and hilarious. Everyone looked amazing in their outfits. Perfect for a group of friends or a date night. It's an indoor event w assigned seats. Would definitely recommend if you haven't been before!

This was my first visit to this theater and I enjoyed it. We sat in the Mezzanine and I would probably say there really isn't that bad of a seat in the intimate house, a little tight and a little snug but that was soon forgotten about as soon as the show, Tango Fire, started as I was quickly enthralled with the music and dancing. Upon arrival, the staff kindly escorted us to our seats with no problem. I was even allowed to take a drink to my seat. Ticket purchasing was easy. Entering and exiting was swift and easy.

This is a historic gem of a theater in the heart of Downtown San Antonio!
It has been beautifully restored to its former glory, with lush carpeting, beautiful architectural motifs, and wonderful air conditioning! Seriously, the A/C here is so powerful, you can feel it blasting across the street when the doors are opened! LOVE IT!
There are two levels of mezzanines, but not a bad seat in the whole house! If you're lucky, they have seats on the 1st mezzanine with a place to put a plate of food, or put your feet up. (Not sure if you're supposed to do that)
It's a bit weird that the only restrooms in the house that I could find were down in the basement, with the dressing rooms. But they are ample, and very clean.
The staff here was very professional, and kept their eyes on things as the evening progressed.
If you get the chance to catch a show or an event here, don't pass it up! It's a testament to San Antonio's former glory days, and the McCombs have done a spectacular job of refurbishing it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
