Heads up, they are permanently closed. Too bad, great food. Would have been for stars, 5 for food, less one for the long, long wait.

Buffet places are always hit or miss....not this one!!
Real homemade and homegrown food from the Amish community.
Food choices are what we folks in the south call "comfort food." From salad to pot roast.
Make sure you come with an empty stomach and save room for desert!
Its around $14 a person, which includes your drink choice. Credit cards are accepted and they are only open Friday and Saturday at 430.
This place is in the middle of nowhere but very much worth the drive!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Vokome G.MO, MO029Sep 18, 2022
The are closing at the end of September, see them soon. Great home cooking. Great homemade bread and rolls.

Wow.... it's hard to describe just how delicious this is! There's a huge selection of down home cooked choices, 5-6 meat choices, beef, ham, fried chicken, and roast beef. Fresh bread, homemade desserts, and amazing sides. My favorites were the Mac n cheese and sweet corn. The dessert bar was 40 feet long!! There were a lot of sugar free options for dessert too.
You need to try it ASAP!!
Too bad they are only open a couple days each week!!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 3145742844May 25, 2014
My Hubby and I were brought to Charley's Buffet by local friends. If you ever get the chance, GO, be sure you are ready to throw down, and wear stretchy comfy clothes because you will most likely overindulge at this comfort food buffet.
The food is simple, composed of the freshest ingredients, and infused with love = utterly delicious. When I went, there was a line about 10 ppl BEFORE it opened for dinner. And I can see why. Once you get a seat, you'll want to hog it for as long as possible. The pulled pork was succulent. The ham was amazing. Even the vegies were delicious, probably because the butter that seasoned it is homemade.
And you must -somehow- save room for dessert. Lots of room. The day I went, I counted over 20 desserts. Seriously. The pies and cobblers were just to die for. I literally had to sample one each of them and a sliver of each took up a whole plate!
It's the kind of place that pictures cannot do it justice because you can't smell the amazing aroma.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Lynda C.Cole Camp, MO1955Sep 26, 2018

Alittle out the way but worth the drive. If you like home cooked country food. Amish people know how to get down with their food. Desserts buffet was insane. Most from scratch. The price was very reasonable.

I have been to Charley's Buffet several times. We drive from Kansas City (about 2.5 hours) to eat at this magnificent butler-style building in the middle of nowhere at least 4-5 times a year. It's THAT incredible!
And I agree with the previous reviews...be hungry when you go! It's not so much about gluttony as much as having the capacity to sample everything.
It is only open Friday and Saturday nights, from 4:30pm to 8:30pm. As such, there is a constant line out the door and around the corner of teh building...even in winter! Plan on standing (or someone standing for you while you wait in the car) for at least 20-45 minutes.
Charlie has these Mennonite women cooking 3-4 days in advance and you can definitely tell there is much love and craftsmanship (if you can use that term for home-style cooking) in every morsel!
They also have several racks of baked breads and desserts to sell as you pay on your way out the door, but you'll miss out if you get there towards the later hours. And you WILL be missing some incredible baked goods! There is no way my wife will let me drive her all the way from Kansas City without coming back with something.
Please, please make the trip and take the time to wait in line for Charley's. You definitely WILL NOT be disappointed!

UPDATE: 09/12/2011 - You now pay before your meal, not after, as stated above.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Duane R.Westminster, CA1614Apr 30, 2016
After all the hype I heard about this place I was really disappointed. The main courses and salad bar were terrible . The desserts were so sweet and sticky they had no taste and they stuck to the serving spoon so bad that it made it very difficult to even put any on your plate. Fried chickene was overlooked and dried out . They had something called fried noodles that were so dry you could not eat them. However the place was packed and I truly do not understand why .
I'm not a fan of Golden Corral but it is much better than Charlies.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0
