Tried it for the first time a few days ago. The service was excellent and im not someone who cares much about service but more for food. Waiter was great, i always had a full drink, bread and full water. Also chatted for awhile.

Drinks were great, strong like they should be. I hat the duck & bacon wantons/ more like mini empinadas / were very good, crab cake was ok. Had the cowboy rib eye very good cooked med rare, how i asked for it. Creamed spinach was ok so was the garlic mash.

      I will be back

Place was great. The food was awesome. Is was my first time visiting and would definitely go back. I had the meatballs for an appetizer with a Caesar salad and the NY strip steak for my entree.

Monbello Pinot Grigio was excellent. I actually had seen this restaurant on Groupon and decided to try it. For the money it was definitely worth it. I left full and satisified.

The only problem I had was that I asked for my steak to be medium and got medium well. There was no red in the center. Usually I can swing both ways so it was not a huge issue.

Contrary to the "steakhouse" label, this quasi-vegetarian found many poultry and seafood dishes to accommodate even the finickiest palate. Gluten free is a thumbs up in my books and the ambience; upscale without being stuffy. A nice array of tap brews keeps the surprises coming as well. While the servers and bartenders are suit and tie, this hidden gem would make t shirt and jeans look appropriate without airs.

My wife and I went their tonight.
The steak was good. It needed salt no salt on the table and the waiter did not offer us any steak sauce.
My wife's salad did not come with the tomatoes that it was supposed to have.
The sides that came with the meal were minuscule and to little to share.
The service was slow. It took 20 minutes to get our salad.
The coffee was good but we were not offered a refill.
      The desert menu was pedestrian.
I will not return. There are so many other restaurants that offer more.

It was ok. I've been searching for something local that compares to Cliffs Elbow Room in Jamesport but have yet to find anyplace in Nassau. Tried this place tonight with a Groupon, figured I would give it a shot. Very dimly lit, and a live music duo straight out of a SNL skit although they were adorable. Caesar salad was blah, as were the tiny baked clams. Clam chowder just ok. Table had 2 filet mignon which were cooked to perfection but tough to cut, and the 2 strip steaks were chewy. Mashed potato sides were equivalent to a child's size, French fries were ok. Waiter and busboy were awesome, but I couldn't recommend this place.

      BEST STEAKHOUSE IN LONG ISLAND!

Living in Manhattan, I have access to some of the best eateries in the world! Growing up in Long Island, I know that truly delicious and quality food is sometimes hard to find. Visiting Cavendish & Ross for Easter with my family was an absolute pleasurable experience! I felt like I was in a Manhattan steakhouse.

The steak was beautifully cooked, service was exceptional and my wine glass was never empty! Appetizers were out of this world and so was the garlic-cheesy bread!!!

I would give this place 10 stars if I could!

Excited to see a legitimate looking steakhouse pop up on the South Shore of Nassau County. My wife and I walked in the backdoor, were greeted immediately, and then promptly escorted through the long, dimly lit restaurant (passing other diners) all the way up to the front. And I mean all the way -- like the table against the wall next to the front door under the three television screens across from the bar. If it were me and my buddies, it would be one thing, but why would you seat a couple out to dinner under the TVs where the flashing Islander game in my periphery nearly gave me an epileptic fit? Poor judgment on the part of the hostess -- ding #1.

We ordered a couple of beefeater martinis (very good), and perused the menu. Wine list was okay -- but how about mentioning the year? There's a big difference between a 2007 Jamesport Cab Franc and any other year. Just sayin.

A warm loaf of bread with melted cheese arrived, with a side of butter with a delicate roasted garlic clove on top -- nice touch.

Waitstaff was friendly; explained the menu well. For apps, we ordered lobster bisque and artichoke tempura with a garlic aioli. Mains: my wife had the filet; I went with bone-in strip, with a 6oz broiled lobster tail; and we shared garlic mashed and creamed spinach.

We were glad our 'tinis came with olives because it took 35 minutes for a bowl of soup and four quick-fried artichokes to arrive. Ding #2

Soup was okay. Like many places, the bisque was a little too thick. But artichokes were fried to crispy perfection and dipping sauce was great.

My wife's filet was outstanding. Cooked to med-rare and tasty. Sides were solid, particularly the creamed spinach.

My steak: meh. I was fully expecting the beefy chew that is a strip steak, but this was a tad tough and left a mineraly aftertaste. Made me think about this whole "certified angus" thing. No mention of prime. No mention of aging. No mention of sourcing. Angus is a breed of cattle, not a measure of quality. And quality was the issue on my plate. Ding #3

Lobster tail was way overdone, dry, and no seasoning. Ding #4

And this made me think about dinner service. It's one thing to be offerred a grind of fresh pepper. But a grind of salt? Before I tasted anything? We're glad we opted for it on our steaks. Had I known, I would have had it scratched on my lobster.
      Ding #5

For dessert we shared a NY cheescake that needed to be smoother. And we consumed what we wanted of it long before the espresso and cappucino arrived. Unlike the apps, at least this tardiness came with an apology.

We oh-so want this place to succeed but it needs to step up its game on several service and food fronts. When the bill with tip is approaching the $300 range, it makes you think that for just a little more you can head to Blackstone or BLT Steak, or Craft and experience steakhouse perfection.

Seriously: Fix this! Make it work! We need a great place around here!

I was a little concerned with some of the reviews on here. The service was great very attentive. We had the coconut shrimp and fried calamari both were very good and I would order again. For dinner we had the Scallops and the 12 oz filet we both loved our meals.

The steak was high quality and delicious. Had porterhouse for 2 medium rare. It was over cooked but so good that I could not complain. Steak was A+, which is the most important part of a steakhouse.
Apps and sides were a -B... Nothing special and not the same caliber as city steakhouses.
Service B+ no complaints but again not NYC caliber.
The weird thing was the bread with melted cheddar on top, it was congealed and looked very processed and cheap.

Price was better than NYC steaks and Rare/blackstones.
      Drinks had a heavy pour.
Overall a highly positive experience I intend to repeat, but I recommend focusing on the steak and not the extras.
