Q:
Is it better to go at dinner or lunch. Is the menu way different?
A:
I'd say maybe smaller portions at lunch? Honestly don't recall if there was a lunch verses dinner menu. Preference is for either an early dinner or later, but not during the 6:00pm dinner rush.

Wow wow wow - what a delightful find in Geyserville! One of the best Italian restaurants I've visited and I should be glad I live too far to eat here every night to avoid massive weight gain.
My favorite item was actually the truffle fries - they are hand cut, perfectly crispy on outside - sprinkled with herbs, drizzled with truffle oil and given a splash a lemon for freshness.
The famous lasagna lived up to big expectations- you can have it vegetarian or with meat sauce, which is nice. All pastas were perfectly cooked and accompanied.
I didn't love the special menu item - spring pea edamame - it's cooked/eaten exactly like edamame but to me, spring pea should stay fresh and I didn't love the use of older spring pea shells as edamame.
They have a wonderful, pet friendly outdoor patio (in the back) - that is covered, shaded and provides heat lamps in the evening. It is surrounded by well groomed garden of plants and herbs.
Our entire experience was very pleasant - including the restrooms, which were large individual rooms - very clean and comfortable. Even the baby changing station had emergency diapers provided.
Service was attentive and friendly. I loved the restaurant provides chilled share plates for cold dishes like salads and warmed share plates for hot dishes like pastas. Superb attention to detail here.
We found free street parking in front but there is also a small lot nearby.
Tip - they do provide bread service on request, the basil tomato sweet butter with warm bread should not be missed.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Evan M.Ashburn, VA58915Feb 24, 2024
It's been a long time since I've left a restaurant and immediately started trying to find an excuse to book my next reservation. But Chef Domenica Catelli and the entire team at Catelli's achieved this, and then some!
Knowing that this was a special dinner for me and my friends visiting from out of town, the service team welcomed us with an incredible surprise of fresh prosciutto, house made burrata, arugula and toasted bread along with the sweetest welcome note. What a way to start!
When you think home style Italian in America, many of us think rich sauces, heavy entrees, and large portions. While the third point couldn't be more true her(thanks to my friend Annie for the leftover pasta!) our entrees were full of flavor, made with fresh local ingredients and so nice and light that we couldn't help sharing amongst the three of us. My friends had the fresh pasta with butter and cheese (simplicity at its finest), Chef Domenica's famous lasagna (not your grandmas lasagna.. and I mean that in the best way possible!) and I had the Chicken Parmigiana served in a cast iron skillet. Gorgeous presentation, beautifully cooked crispy chicken, and a delicate topping of fresh mozzarella and a light, yet savory tomato sauce.
Since we weren't completely stuffed from our meal, we opted for two desserts to share, the chocolate molten cake with rich (yes, this one was rich... and the crowd favorite!) dark chocolate and the tiramisu which was equally delicious.
The meal was paired with five-star service from the entire team, from our server (I'm kicking myself for forgetting his name but he was a young gentleman and exemplified wine country hospitality to a T) to the manager who graciously came to check on us at the end of the meal. And yes, the wine did flow from the bottle of local Dry Creek Valley Pinot that we all shared.
As a local Santa Rosan who should have gone to Catelli's a long time ago when I moved out here, I recommend you don't just walk, but run, to Catelli's on your next visit to Geyserville. From the intimate decor to the classic Italian fare and warm, gracious service, you'll be ready to plan your next visit as well!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Michael H.Ceres, CA5977Dec 28, 2023
So so good!
Some of most authentic Italian food I've ever eaten.
Excellent flavor and excellent service.
The tiny town of Geyserville is pretty lucky to have Catelli's!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Adam M.Santa Rosa, CA273255May 10, 2024
They don't have a bad dish on the menu
Better make reservations; they can be ' fully committed ' on a Wednesday nightHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sanford W.Concord, CA14246May 17, 2024
After wine tasting in the Dry Creek area we made the short drive to the tiny town of Geysserville. Glad we did! The food, service and vibe were all excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal!

The first lunch on a patio for the season is probably the most golden. Add dear friends and you're off to a great start. Our patio seats were under a movable cover with open sides... we had shade and enjoyed the plants and garden at the same time. The bar served a very nice Sazerac cocktail, followed by Noni's minestrone (I remember her from my childhood) , salad , and pastas that were caringly prepared. Affogato was the dessert of choice for one of my happy companions, but a passionfruit sorbet that was shared was a total home running. Light, refreshing, perfect after pasta. Our server ( I think her name was Victory) was another highlight. She didn't rush us and was attentive at the same time. While being professional, she was also amiable and friendly. Thank you!

I remember the history. Tonight I realized that it's over for me. Nona's soup is still good, although Virginia (Nona) would have added a touch more of either salt or Parmesan. The warm bread and herbed butter was satisfying. I ordered a lovely wine to accompany the chicken parmigiana that I ordered. The wine was great, the chicken s disaster! I don't even want to describe the dish. Let's say it was stringy chicken in a nest of tomato paste. I'm still having ill effects after 6 hours!
Goodbye old friend.Oct 5, 2018Previous reviewAfter boycotting the restaurant for several years ( that's another review) I decided to give it another try. I'm local and I have high expectations.
For lunch today my companion and I chose to eat on the patio. It was apparent that the service was going to be slow from the get go. Each of us ordered a cocktail and our entrees came before we finished. So we went ahead and ordered wine. Our pasta dishes were served along with salad and soup on a wooden plank. By the time I finished my delicious Nona's minestrone, my pasta was cold and glumpy. The Richard's sauce I had today was not the same that I 've had since I was a child. We finally got bread after asking for it after receiving our entrees. There's a lot of truth in the old adage that "the old gray mare ain't what she used to be." - Alvaro C.Miami, FL31017May 11, 2024
4.5 because of the dessert, otherwise 5!
This was a really great Italian restaurant catch.
We arrived as walk ins and got promptly seated for lunch.
Both pastas were out of this world!!
We truly enjoyed this after a tasting experience in a winery nearby.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Maria A.Healdsburg, CA028May 10, 2024

Who would have thought in a tiny town in wine country that this incredible restaurant would be here?? A sweet surprise and can't wait to return.
We had been on an extended trip for over three weeks and we were staying nearby. I opened up my Yelp app and this place popped up. I called for a reservation but was quickly told that they were totally booked. Only available sitting was bar seating. I was shocked but intrigued at the same time. We both decided we had better go check it out.
We arrived close to 7:00pm and sure enough the place was packed. I looked over at the bar and noticed two free stools. The people at the bar advised us that they were open so we sat down quickly. We met Tyler our bartender who quickly gave us some history on the restaurant.
The restaurant first opened in 1936 by Italian immigrants Santi and Virginia Catelli. They use local and organic farmers ingredients plus their wine list is very impressive. It is still family run today.
So many delicious items on the menu and it was so hard to choose but we decided on the Catelli's Salad and Lasagna. We also enjoyed a glass of a tasty Zinfandel from a local winery. The lasagna was ten layers of delicate pasta and we selected the Domenica sauce which had organic tomato, garlic, and extra virgin olive oil plus it was spicy. Can I just say this was the best lasagna I think I have ever had. I sure wish they were closer as I would seriously dine here every week just so I could sample all the dishes.
Service from Tyler was great as he was super busy pouring drinks and serving food too. The vibe in the restaurant is festive and lively. On Thursdays they offer live music. They offer beautiful patio dining as well but I will have to experience that on my next visit. Parking is on the street and with such a small town not too hard to find a space.
So happy we got lucky to find you Catelli's, we will be back!Helpful 24Thanks 6Love this 30Oh no 0 - Jan 6, 2024Updated review
Up in Geyserville for our granddaughter's basketball game, we made reservations for lunch afterward. A rainy, cold day, it was warm and welcoming in the dining room. Not overly busy, two servers share duties in a very professional and friendly manner. We each ordered a glass of Ramazzotti red wine to accompany our meal. To eat, we shared a 1/2 Ceasar salad and garlic bread. My wife chose cheese ravioli with Domenica's tomato sauce, and I chose spaghetti with mushroom sauce. To finish, we each selected the affogato. I got mine with Noble Folk chocolate ice cream and my wife vanilla. Service and food were great. We like to dine on the spur of the moment, and most times, the restaurant is fully reserved. Catellis food and service are very consistent. I wish they changed up the menu from time to time or offered a few specials to change up the offerings a bit.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 15, 2022Previous reviewWe sat under the stars on the large black and white checked terrace at Catellis on a busy Friday night. We shared an ok, Basil Ceasar salad topped with blue cheese and a basket of sour dough garlic bread to start. Our main courses were, Butter Garlic sauce with spaghetti, which Shirley liked a lot, and Chicken Picatta, boneless chicken thighs with greens and a garlic, white wine, and caper, picatta sauce. I switched to spaghetti to accompany the chicken as I wasn't feeling the polenta that normally accompanies the dish. Our desserts were Affogato, Noble Folk vanilla ice cream with a shot of espresso, and the Noble Sundae, Noble Folk vanilla and cherry pistachio ice cream topped with salted caramel. We asked our server to leave off the whipped cream and prosciutto. Service by our young server was friendly and professional. We love the terrace and dining room at Catellis and the promise offered by the reasonably priced menu. But at the end of our meals, we leave saying, we had an enjoyable evening out but the food is generally no better than we cook at home with the exception of the 10 layer lasagna which is amazing. Regardless, we will continue to dine there.
Jun 17, 2021Previous reviewDinner at Catelli's this evening. You can tell California has reopened. Tables were much closer together than at previous dinners there the last few months and not a single person, servers or guests wore a mask. It was sort of shocking. We shared one of our favorite dishes on the menu, the kale salad, one of the best kale salads we have eaten. We also shared an order of the garlic bread. My wife chose the penne pasta with Domenica's tomato sauce and I decided on chicken parmigiano served with sift polenta. My only complaint about the meal was the chicken was over cooked to the point being dry. For dessert, we shared a strawberry rhubarb crisp a la mode. Since it was hot evening, we didn't think we would finish a full bottle so we each got a glass of Sean Minor Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. Service was friendly and attentive and food was well paced despite the restaurant being very busy. I said to my wife the one thing I would wish was that the menu would change periodically or offer some specials. My wife wishes the chef would offer fish from time to time.
