Two floors of fun! So many unique toys and games. There is something for all ages and gift wrapping is offered too. The merchandise was of very good quality. I even found a very unique light up jellyfish lamp for a gift. The staff was super helpful. Will cone back here again the next time I'm in town!

Neither staff me never wore masks through COVID that I saw and stood near customers. This is extremely disgusting. It was also far, far too hot when I walked it. Have they never heard of air conditioning?

Long story short: they went above and beyond, and way out of their way to get us a very hard-to-find toy, directly from the manufacturer (Schleict), in time for Christmas. I could not get guaranteed shipment in time for Christmas from anywhere else. They were SUPER nice. Contrast this result with Target who also said they could get me another toy - only to cancel the order on Christmas Eve. I especially liked the fact that I was able to support a "brick and mortar" business in my home town.

I would be happy to buy all my kids' toys from here on out. The owners pride themselves in offering quality toys and games. You won't find cheap stuff like you find in box or chain stores.
Pros
* local business
* located in historic Beaver, PA
* clean and organized with that small town feel
* carries several toys you don't see in chain stores
* quality toys that will last
* most toys have an education component
* knowledgable and friendly staff
* Royal Rewards Program where you can earn a percentage back from your purchases in gift cards and other perks!
* Birthday Club for kids 10 and under - on your birthday you get to pick a free gift from the Birthday Vault (BIG hit with my kids)
* hosts Family Game Nights, Monday Story & Craft Time and other fun family-friendly events
* free gift wrapping
Cons (had to really think hard to come up with something here)
* the store has become so popular that during busy seasons or game nights things can be quite crowded ... a good thing!!
* most toys are retail price, but I am willing to pay the little extra because I am supporting a local business AND because it helps us keep our spending in check. We buy things we truly love here and we don't end up with excess
* parking can be an issue since Beaver is a hoppin' place, BUT we don't mind walking a little ... Beaver is a beautiful and very safe little town.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Éthan M.Aliquippa, PA1008Aug 3, 2017
Castle Toys and Games is a fantastic toy store owned by an honest and caring couple. The products and prices are both fantastic and the customer service is unmatched by any other company. If you are looking for quality built toys of any kind at a reasonable price, Castle is the way to go! I definitely recommend you visit Castle next time you're in Beaver/Wexford and seriously consider buying your kids' toys from them. Doing so would not only support a wonderful local business and burgeon the local economy but also guarantee your purchase is of safe and superior build quality.

"...where adventure and imagination reign." If that isn't an appropriate tagline...
A Lego knight stands outside, acting as a solitary, silent sentinel, protecting childhood dreams with sword and shield.
No, you will not find Transformers, G.I. Joes, Hot Wheels, Pokemon, Power Rangers, or any other sort of action figure here.
Instead, this whimsical shop in Beaver, one the girlfriend and I just happened upon while stopping by Kretchmar's Bakery, sells only toys that would fall under the "Playfair" category. This means that the toys are educational, non-violent, are often unisex, stimulate the mind, and don't involve imaginary death or dismemberment.
Where else does one find chemistry sets, wooden tops, puppets, marbles, and games such as Double Shutter?

Kay and I played with it for 20 minutes.
How about a Big Bag of Science for that misbehaving kid as opposed to a big bag of coal on X-Mas morning? Your juvenile delinquent may become the next Bill Nye!

Jacks-in-the-box, tiddlywinks, Biodomes, brainteasers, puzzles, yo-yos, art kits, books, and all sorts of other healthy amusements can be found on their shelves. We both spent an hour in here giggling and fiddling with things, and neither of us have children. If you do bring your child here, they'll want to camp out here overnight and come home a mini-Reed Richards!
My favorite part of the store was their Schleich display. Schleich specializes in figurines of everything from dogs and farm animals to dragons, monsters, ancient warriors, dinosaurs, and...Smurfs!

For the first time in many years the "Collect 'Em All" urge came over me, and yes, as someone whose kiddie Golden Age was between the years of 1979-1987, I was one of those children.
Castle Toys and Games has so much product packed into their two-floor storefront that I've only touched a upon a smidgeon of what they offer. Just bring your little squirts here and let them have the run of the place. There's plenty for them to try out before they decide to take something home, and you might even walk out with something for yourself. Hell, I almost bought something for the cats to bat around
P.S. You can apparently order things from their website if you don't feel like traveling all the way to Beaver, but if you find yourself out that way, please visit this goody-goody good old-fashioned toy store. It is, in a sense, to time travel.
Besides, a nifty little bakery is right nearby on the same street. So get the kids some toys and feed their faces with some sweet treats afterwards.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - J. C.Beaver, PA0111Sep 22, 2012
A SHINY-clean store reminiscent of the pre-mall retail environment - this store is the best and has outplaced my decades-favorite S.W. Randall's on Smithfield in Pittsburgh. This store filled the gap that Randall's was leaving since they have steadily gone downhill in the last 10-20 years.
Plus, who doesn't want to visit charming downtown Beaver with it's cute shops, great restaurants and relaxing parks and library! It's much nicer trip than bumper cars in downtown Pgh!
And leave it to Miss Linda, proprietor, to come up with some of the most unique toys! I found Snap Circuits, thanks to her awesome buyer skills. This "Legos meets science" idea has kept two young men (grandsons) engaged for literally hours on end. Who would think that you could put this in front of a 7-year old on a "Friday night at Nannie's" and have to drag him away three hours later?
Another reviewer said you won't find imaginary "kill 'em" toys here. Just an FYI if you're put off by that type of thing --- when you get to the second floor, don't turn right and go all the way to the end. There are all kinds of nerf-type shooters, crossbows, etc. My personal philosophy and experience is that a little toy gun here and there doesn't breed a violent man or woman *shrug* and I'm glad the store gave my grandsons the opportunity to have some fun playing cowboys with the same cap pistols I remember from the 50s. But if you aren't of the same mind as me, stop your exploration about 3/4's of the way down that part of the store.
Another important word of advice - don't assume the first floor is geared only to toddlers. There's a whole section of crafty-type stuff toward the back. Paint-your-own styro flyers have been a huge hit with my grandsons. Not only are they fun to paint, they fly really well --- unless you pile on so much paint that they sink like a stone :-) Lots of cool kits for the female shortie too.
Top it off with a calendar of fun events, the "birthday vault" (a dramatic door that opens with a huge key to reveal age/gender-appropriate presents for the birthday boy or girl), many cool savings programs and big smiles from everyone that works there ---- it's just the BEST place to go for toys and games.
Lastly - This is marked by Yelp as $$$ Pricey. That's WRONG and a disservice to the store . They do have some few and far between high-end toys but the majority are between $10 and $30 and they have lots of small fun stuff that is between $2 and $10. Don't let that rating deprive you of a great experience.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jeremy S.Vanport, PA129May 14, 2012
We have used Castle toys in the past and have always been pleased with the quality and service of the location. And the owners are very friendly.
I wanted to comment on an ingenious idea that they came up with... If you take in a birthday invitation you get 15% off and free gift wrapping. What a help it is for a birthday party that your children go to. The gift wrapping is always a problem in my house because how often do you keep paper around? And if you do is it the right one? You save about $5 with this free offer since you do not need to pick up specific wrapping paper.
Support the local business and defiantly shop here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Emily N.Monaca, PA02Aug 25, 2014
This toy store is amazing! The children can experiment before they buy most toys. They have many unique toys & games available. We just moved to the area & after we made a small purchase there, they mailed us a handwritten card, welcoming us to the area (& a discount card!!!) enclosed! How personal and thoughtful! While other major toy stores (& chains) may be a few dollars cheaper, we will only shop at Castle Toys. More than happy to support local business now!

This is a great place! I feel like words cannot describe how much I love it there. It gets pricey, but it's worth it.
