Cast Iron Steakhouse is dedicated to 110% guest satisfaction! We do this by offering every guest premium quality food and friendly service in a great atmosphere, and make it affordable! Our choice beef is aged 21-28 days and hand-cut everyday. Every steak is seasoned with our signature rub and then seared in cast iron skillets to retain juices and flavors that are normally lost to the charcoals of a grill. In addition to steaks, our menu offers fresh seafood, chicken, and other house specialties! Everything from our salad dressings to our desserts are made from scratch in-house, we invite you to come in and taste the difference!

When you drive by a place 2-3 times per day you can become oblivious to it. I need to think of CIS more often. Haven't been in a long time and my wife and I stopped in after working out/tennis. Reservations are suggested but we have never been turned away from the bar or bar seating area. Greeted and seated immediately, chose two seats at the bar. bartender discussed drink specials, gave us waters and menus and made our drinks immediately. We chose a small batch bourbon manhattan. Very tasty. They have a very nice selection of brown water, as we expect, in Louisville. Salads and steaks were ordered. The temperatures were perfect on the beef.

Cast Iron has been recommended to me for several months now. This placed lived up to it's hype. I highly suggest making a reservation otherwise you WILL have a wait. The joint is tiny on the inside with dimmed lights, tables close to each other and a small bar area. There is a lovely, large porch area for dining as well though and plenty of off street parking.
The food is phenomenal. We began with the queso which has steak and chicken mixed in. The large portion is extremely large and the better price but you will have left over queso (or maybe not...we didn't because we live large ha) if shared with one other person. Nick had the delmonico, and I had the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin. Each of these entrees are served with a salad and a side. I highly recommend having their house dressing with your salad. It has a slight kick to it: tangy ranch with a hint of hot honey mustard. For my side I decided on the cole slaw; don't bother ordering this. Nick opted for a baked potato since he had a steak.
Cast Iron has a tag line of, "steak that won't break the bank" and that is what this place is. Nick described it as a no frills steakhouse. It was not trying to be something more than just good, reasonably priced steak at a nicer establishment. It will be a restaurant we continue to go to.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - May 8, 2016
Delicious! Even the side salad was really good...and I'm talking basic side salad that comes with your entree. The shrimp cocktail was great and the service was attentive. I was a fan and will definitely come back. I can't wait to try something else on my next visit.

Hard to find as the building is kinda tucked away from this winding two lane road. Inside it is quaint, cozy, clean and cool (aka, hip :) ). My friends from Louisville knew about this hidden gem and treated me to a steak dinner here.
I had the Delmonico cast iron steak which was cooked to perfection (medium). The juices and seasonings were just right. The steak itself was a very nice cut and size. I had a house salad which was very crisp and fresh and a large, perfectly cooked, sweet potato.
We ordered an appetizer of cast iron steak queso which was delicious! I'm not a fan of chips and dip but this was awesome. There were very small pieces of steak in this perfectly seasoned creamy cheese dip.
The service was excellent.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Todd A.Lehi, UT21915Jul 26, 2015
If you're traveling from downtown Louisville it's an absolutely gorgeous drive along the river to the Cast Iron Steakhouse. The exterior is fairly plain and the restaurant itself is on stilts due to proximity to the river. Great atmosphere inside. This spot appears to be a favorite of the locals and we ended up sitting at the bar since the place was packed and we didn't get a reservation.
Salads are $3 or so and very tasty. House salad came with cheddar, bacon, grape tomatoes and crispy onion straws. Ranch was a house recipe slightly on the tangy side. Ordered the Potato Cake based on reviewer feedback and it was great. Bartender suggested malt vinegar for it and that made it even better. Delmonico steak was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. Menu said that they put some type of rub on it for seasoning. Finished it all off with some peach cobbler which was amazing!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Chuck M.Columbus, IN17Apr 15, 2017
Service was even better than the food and the food was spot on!
Ordered ribeye 'Pittsburg rare'. Fell in love at first bite. Beautiful setting.
Will be back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Allie T.Louisville, KY86367Oct 8, 2016
My boyfriend and I went here for a special date night and we were not let down. We each got a steak, perfectly cooked, and absolutely delicious! Worth the splurge in my opinion and less pricey but more tasty than other high end steak houses in the Louisville area.
The atmosphere was very inviting, sort of casual but still a little upscale. It was very nice to have more affordable options and then very well priced steak and other selections to choose from. Our waitress was very busy we could tell but she still gave excellent and friendly service. I highly recommend this place if you want super tasty food, for less than other high end steak houses around town but still high quality.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - M B.Pfafftown, NC40182Mar 26, 2017
Tried out this place last night for the first time. The place is very clean and inviting. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the 8oz sirloin and it was cooked perfectly. My boyfriend had the Delmonico and it was prepared perfectly also. Wasn't much talking because we were too busy savoring. Lol
Well definitely be visiting again and again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mary S.Corydon, IN01May 20, 2017
This was our first visit to Cast Iron Steakhouse. We went on a Sunday afternoon with a party of six. They went out of their way to accommodate my mother who was in a wheelchair, but it doesn't seem to be a good setup for someone in a wheelchair. We were crowded into a small area and it was hard to carry on conversations with the noise level. On the whole the food was good, but one member of our party ordered salmon and got tilapia. He brought this to the waitress' s attention, but she said it was thin end of the salmon and did not offer to make any correction to his order. There were two other people in the party who had salmon and his order was definitely not salmon.
We probably will not return.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brad H.Louisville, KY1441051719Feb 23, 2015
the appetizer was fair, and the rib eye was as good as any I have had. It was cooked to textbook definition. I really did enjoy the very casual atmosphere and noisy which made me a bit leery about the steak but no worries. recommend anyone for a visit and the steak , but it will not be a romantic getaway
we also had the blackened Mahi, and as is the case at so many restaurants they get carried away with the blackening and its full of salt. Stick to the STEAK, after all its a steak house!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
