Q:
Do you have a bar?
A:
Great question! We have a full service bar at Carnevor with a brilliant offering of wine and spirits. Our bar seating is first-come-first-serve.

5 of us dined on Saturday night. Two of us had Filets that were over-cooked, 2 steaks were fine, and the seafood entree was good. Granted, even at over-cooked they still tasted good. Our food was delivered by food runners to make sure it was hot, but our server didn't do her check back for a a little bit of time so by the time she asked how everything was, we said it was fine.
Great dessert ($16).Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Chad B.Chicago, IL1106Apr 6, 2024
Pros:
Location
Most food options
Attentiveness of the support staff
Clean
Cons:
Gluten free options: they can "make anything gluten free" which basically means they remove food from the order. No GF bread, crackers, pasta, etc
Server was ok. End of meal, didn't see him for 15 minutes. He came back with the check and never asked if we wanted dessert.
Reservations, ha. We arrived on time and no table. Stood around to wait.
Ambiance was very loud and apparently it's a place where people can wear sleep attire which makes it very unromantic for those dressing up. Hard to blame them but it is the environment.
Steak was overly salty and I like salt.
Chairs were like those you stack up from church or school.
We won't be back but that doesn't mean it's a bad place. Just not for us.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Angelica A.Layton Park, Milwaukee, WI1163Jan 30, 2024
I had been wanting to try this steakhouse for years now. I was completely disappointed with the service and the sides 3 out of the 5 dishes were not edible, not even my son ate them. He eats anything especially when it's Mac and cheese, how can Mac and cheese be so gross and the "mini stuffed potatoes" gross! Lovely mushrooms and asparagus though. The steaks were cooked great, we took 3 out of the 4 home though. The king crab legs were delicious except the butter needed more salt.
Eric the waiter was slow, forgot my dads drink, than lied that the bar was busy, when it wasn't, he also treated my dad with no class. Bumped me while placing the knives down, and acted like nothing happened, also would lean on me without saying excuse me, and would slam the drinks down on the table when he was dropping them off, he never bothered to clean the messy table/ crumbs from the bread that were all over from my 9yr old...
FYI Carnevor: The Spanish speaking staff kept bothering our table because they heard me speaking Spanish to my dad. We didn't go there to make friends or be constantly bothered, we just went to have a great night and have our own discussions and be SERVED, not have to constantly change the subject to whatever the bus boy wanted to know about us or my dad. I get it, what I thought would be an elegant dinner turned out to be like a trip to Applebees.
If you come ask me if I want bread in Spanish, and I say no, don't ask me, "Oh No???" am I supposed to say no twice? Train your staff better maybe Eric needs to understand his place as a server, and not act like patrons like us should put up with being bumped or touched, or treated any differently, or let people keep bothering us at our table. Also we don't eat on dirty tables at my house Eric so we didn't appreciate doing it at Carnevor. Maybe we didn't meet your expectations as patrons. Point taken.
Therefore if your looking for a place where your money will be well spent, elegant atmosphere, clean table to eat on, with great service, and you feel like the VIP that you are when spending hundreds of dollars on a dinner, go somewhere else. I was thinking this place would be comparable to Eddie Martinis, don't waste your money here. The atmosphere is loud, loud music playing, and winter breeze is constant due to the positioning of the door and your table.
Needless to say will never spend money here ever again and wanted to let everyone else know how overrated this place is, not at all what you expect a place with these prices to be, was completely embarrassed with my dad and the treatment we got from everyone especially our waiter/ server.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 25, 2024
Carnevor was a great hidden gem! We started with the filet risotto and it was absolutely divine. I ordered the 5oz filet plate and it melted in my mouth- it was so tender. Our server was attentive and gave great recommendations for each course of the meal. If you're looking for a fancy date night- this a spot to check out!

I made a reservation online for Saturday at 530
Pm for 2 people. The parking situation is horrible but they do have valet parking. We parked two blocks away in a public parking lot for $12 for two hours.
When we walked in we were greeted by a hostess who sat us immediately. The restaurant is very dimly lit which gives it a very romantic vibe. Good place for an anniversary night.
Our waiter came over and got our drink order within minutes of sitting down. My Prosecco was $14 but was amazing. You can order wine by glass or bottle. I ordered the 8 oz filet mignon which was divine. Best steak I've ever had. For sides we ordered truffle mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts with bacon. Both sides I couldn't stop eating because they were so good.
We were given dessert complimentary by our waiter. I didn't catch his name but he was great.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 145133223Nov 11, 2023
Wow, is all I have to say. Everything about this meal from the romantic low lighting, the rustic cave-like decor, the amazing food.... The meal was pricey, but we went in with an open mind, since we were celebrating our anniversary and hardly ever get out without the kids.
We started with lobster bisque. It was creamy and had a unique taste. We both really enjoyed the flavor combinations.
For dinner, we both ordered the Japanese Wagyu after asking the server if she recommended the domestic Wagyu ribeye or the Japanese Wagyu. She had a very quick response to say Japanese, so we went with it (when in Rome, right?). The meat was melt in your mouth delicious. It was so tender and amazingly delicious. We were really glad we chose the Japanese!
All of the sides we chose were good - we had crispy Brussel sprouts, butternut squash risotto and truffled mashed. The truffled mashed was THE BOMB. I could not stop eating it.... The texture was perfect and the flavors were so perfect. Highly recommend, if you like truffled flavor.
For dessert, we went the ice cream route. It was creamy and delicious... nothing to write home about, but still very good.
Definitely recommend this for steak lovers!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christopher W.Greenwood, IN0673Apr 13, 2024
Glad we chose Carnevor in downtown Milwaukee for dinner! Enjoyed nice Freemark Abbey decanted wine and a fabulous meal. The 16oz bone-in filet Oscar style was excellent! The service of the entire team and our waiter, Eric, was outstanding!

The service from Will was out of this world as he recommended several things but was not pushy. He never tried upselling our wine and was just pleasant even though we had a late reservation. The steaks (strip and filet) were both cooked perfectly and within steak prices for the cuts/type. The goat cheese salad was unique and tasty! Mac n cheese was nothing fancy but certainly a nice touch. Give this steakhouse a try for a quiet and great decor that makes you feel like a date night or for a big party... wow!

4.5 stars mainly due to the steaks being overly salted, at least for my taste.
Bone marrow was fantastic.
Octopus solid.
Truffle risotto was great.
Brussell sprouts were a bit on the soggy side.
The steaks. I ordered the 20oz bone in ribeye. I'm a bit more salt adverse, however I can still handle salty foods. However, my steak and the steaks that I tried from my fellow diners were salty to the point that I couldn't finish my steak.
Besides the saltiness the steaks were cooked perfectly, the bone in ribeye was trimmed beautifully. The bone in filet was one of the best filets I've ever had. And the Australian wagyu strip is an experience.
I do feel that a 14oz wagyu strip steak is a bit much for me. With wagyu being so rich, I'd prefer a smaller cut.
Crescent bread pudding was a fantastic finisher along with a Kopke 87 digestive.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Keith L.Salem, WI0641Mar 11, 2024
We visited Carnevor for a birthday celebration and were not disappointed. The ambiance is dark and somewhat mysterious which we liked. Our server was extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and he took the time to throughly review the menu with us. He also explained their aging process and the result was fantastic. We both enjoyed filets with sautéed brussel sprouts. Definitely recommend the stuffed olives with a cocktail too!
