I have always had respectful and transparent service with CarMax. I bought my 2016 Jeep right before the pandemic in 2020. Found it online and had it shipped from Montana to Seattle for $300. It was a dealer's car to drive clients around in and it was loaded to the hilt. I did not have a trade in but had a fair bit of cash for a down payment. The car was low, low miles (13k) and just over $26k. Great price and I've never had a mechanical issue. Last year I got into arrears on my loan and they have treated me with kindness and understanding throughout my situation. Just paid it off today - four years early - and the car is still the best car I ever owned.

Carmax offered me $11500 to buy my car. I sold it $14000 at BMW. Enough said. Even Carvana's online offer was not as bad as Carmax.

4 stars because this overall was a great experience. We received a very fair price for our trade in (above KBB offer), and the no haggle pricing on our purchase was amazing (and confirmed to be a great value). Financing was competitive even with our credit union.
The downside and why they didn't get 5 stars: Plan to do a TON of waiting for each and every step. For each step there is a new person to talk to and very poor communication with the client. The same is true for repairs, just leave the vehicle there and come back later. Call often to make sure they are on schedule and working as promised.

Bought my 2021 Mazda CX-5 here as well as traded my Buick Encore in the process. They are patient in finding you what you're looking for. They go above and beyond to try to get you out of there as soon as possible. You don't feel kidnapped as you would at other dealerships.

BEWARE fellow car buyers!! My husband and I waited over a week for a car to be transferred. We arrived and had the wrong car waiting for us. This was terribly frustrating, time consuming, and financially costly for us. The car they brought out was in horrible condition and had a spare tire on it! Go somewhere else! Save your time and money!

I spent 3 hours waiting at CarMax Kearney Mesa to test drive a vehicle I had custom ordered from Anaheim and the very unhelpful, unknowledgeable agent who literally knew very little about the cars he was selling and was so fickle and unhelpful he even asked me for the stock number on the vehicle. He had close to ZERO people skills - Marquis Moreno-
Basically, Told me my auto insurance needed to be a PDF file only in order to test drive the vehicle. so I RE-forwarded ALL my insurance info and he still asked for a new file of the insurance just to be difficult and unhelpful. At the end of the 3 hour period of my wasted day, this lame facility wouldn't allow me to test drive the vehicle. As I'm finally leaving 2 guys walked in to return a BMW with a completely broken down engine. What a terrible crop of cars with terrible customer service

Called and reserved a car at 6 AM. Went to drive to the location three hours away and called in route to double check and learned that they had sold the car to somebody else. Luckily I did not trust this company and I called to confirm. Got passed around to 4 managers with no logical excuses, except " I'm sorry there is nothing we can do. " goodbye Carmax.

Didn't plan on making a purchase during this crazy inflation, but was carjacked and glad I ended up finally coming here.
The first time I came in, a very kind older gentleman with an even kinder voice, the one you'd want as Grandpa for sure btw lol, named Jack helped me out; also congratulations sir. He is the reason why I purchased my 2018 RAV4 a couple of weeks later once I was ready with Joshua.
Joshua, another very patient and kind sir. This man goes through everything by the book and gives you only the honest answers; go to him and you shall not be disappointed!
Furthermore, cannot forget the gentleman in the front who assisted me during my second visit. This guy straight up looks like club security if it were Club CarMax; can't miss him lol But he is the man, I had a minor issue with plates and he was able to get the help I need and resolve it.

Worst Experience - Don't Recommend!
I did an online appraisal, got an offer and called CarMax to ask how long it would take. "We pride ourselves in how fast we are. It will take no more than 30 min."
Fast forward, we had an appt, showed up 15 min early and then waited 45 min past our time to be seen. Another 30 min to test drive and then was told it will take 6 hours to do the paperwork. WTF!!
Got a call 7.5 hours later and the service lady said, "Can you make it here within 20 min because I am trying to go home on time."
Are you kidding me, I waited with my family 8+ hours and I need to hurry.
I then came down in 15 min and was told it will be a few min to sign the paperwork. 1 hour later, still waiting.
Bad attitudes from all the business office people and poooooor customer service. I would never recommend CarMax to anyone.
Total time: 9.5 hours + to sell car
