Discovered this place thanks to Groupon.
I love the workout, but it can be challenging following along depending on who the instructor is. The beginner class isn't really a beginner class. Since I don't have the best memory, I got lost along the way several times. Depending who the instructor is, sometimes you get hands on help, and other times you have to hope and pray you figure it out after watching others do it. You definitely get a good sweat which I really appreciate.
They incorporate light weights, you do sit ups, and of course barre work. I'm not crazy about the music though. It's like listening to remix and I HATE remix.
You have to bring a towel to lay on when it's time to do floor work.
Sometimes they have free snacks. Always a treat!!
Waiting area is a little small. Not to many seats. They sell water and some exercise clothes. Occasionally they have some workout clothes on "sale". Parking is definitely a challenge depending on the time you show up. It's free street parking.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Oct 11, 2019
I took 5 classes at Cardio Barre and I am very impressed with the level of intensity of their classes. I love the fact that they incorporate some cardio into the routine and that there is a lot of focus on form. Many people at this studio look like professional dancers or former dancers so its a bit intimidating but I got over it. It also takes a few classes to do the moves right but the instructors are there to help. I might go back to them once in a while via classpass. Great studio!

I've been coming to Cardio Barre off and on for about 2-3 years now (I lost count). I generally like the classes- I've only taken beginner because I go back after long gaps in between so I forget the moves. I think I would definitely see more changes if I obviously went more consistently and frequently but the classes aren't cheap!
I recently also bought a Groupon and I didn't read the fine print about having to use the classes within 30 days (which I feel is actually a short time if people are busy with work and life). I stopped by yesterday thinking it would be okay to use (I was maybe a week outside of the 30 days) the one class I had remaining but the girl at the reception told me it was outside of the time period so I would have to pay for a regular class. Couldn't they have just honored the one class? It's not like I had a couple left, just one and I made an effort to show up. It would have been a nice gesture to allow me to just have that last class in hopes that I would return in the future.
I just left because I didn't want to pay the $20 or commit to a package at the moment and now I'm not sure if I have the urge to go back since there are other options similar to Cardio Barre.
And parking isn't that hard to find, you just have to drive up and down the street to find something in the residential area- just come a few minutes early.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 89551239Sep 26, 2016
I purchased a groupon, and it was so worth it! I got a good workout every time I came here, and I definitely felt sore the next day. Most of my sessions were with Laura in the mornings, and she is a really great teacher! The class is very fast paced, and I am not the most coordinated person. But the teachers provide hands-on assistance so you get the proper technique and you can always look at your neighbors to see if you're doing it right.
This is a great place for a full body workout, and the classes are challenging and motivational.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Anna T.Los Angeles, CA07Nov 20, 2018
I am a Cardio Barre convert! Writing this review after over a year of taking Cardio Barre classes so hopefully that means something. I've also taken Bar Method (too slow, not enough sweat, and a little boring for me) and Pure Barre (good workout, but almost sure I pulled a nerve doing some of their moves which took me forever to recover from).
The studio owner is incredibly friendly and tries to instill a real sense of community, and you'll often see her take classes with you. Have not taken a boring class yet. If you're seeking challenge definitely check out Byron, Leslie, or Micki's class (in no particular order).
The workout is very low impact yet very high-paced, so you really feel an all-over body workout and sweat up a storm! Last thing - love the emphasis on ballet moves. I have never done classical ballet training, but you'll definitely feel like a dancer in Cardio Barre!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lark F.Pasadena, CA171390284Apr 8, 2017
Ok so I've given this place a shot several times now. Taken classes with many a different instructor to see if there's one I like the best. I like them all equally tbh, it's Cardio Barre's method and execution that I'm just not crazy about.
First off the music is so loud that it muffles the instruction. While I know the moves pretty well I can barely decipher what is being said over the music. I have to constantly look to see if we've moved on to the next exercise.
The regular class moves pretty fast, the advanced is REALLY fast, not harder, just less breaks n rest periods. Fine by me, I could keep up, but coupled with not being able to hear a damn thing, it's really annoying.
The moves are almost all the same every single class. Cardio portion is the same as is legs. Only thing I've noticed to vary more consistently is the abs portion. It's why I tried the advanced class. Not much difference in the exercises tho, it was just more reps and less breaks.
The exercises in general seem generic, weird and useless. Torso twists do NOT whittle down ur waist, plies don't strengthen ur inner thighs and booty when done so quickly. You just create a ton of lactic acid buildup. Most of the exercises could be useful if their execution were different. I've taken other barre classes with similar exercises and not a single one has u perform them at the speed that they do here. Just my two cents.
My fave instructors are mikky and Angela bc they actually come around and fix ur form. Plus they're very nice ppl.

OMG. this place kicks the bar method's butt.
seriously.
i broke more sweat here tonight than i did running 5 miles or doing the bar method back to back.
i did the bar method for a month and by the end, felt the plateau. tonight i can literally say that i got my @$$ whooped.
i bought the ten pack, which is great cuz i don't have to use it up all in a month. i'm actually saving money cuz i did the bar method for a month but i went less than ten times.
i'll update my progress.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Regan B.Los Angeles, CA3766Oct 5, 2018
Cardio barre is just a superior exercise class. This location was amazing too. Had class with Micki and she has infectious energy. It's a fun fun fun class that actually works all the muscles in your body and gives you the long lean muscles that a lot of places promise but actually make you bulky (cough cough pop physique). I've done cardio barre off and on for years now (due to moving) and I've had the best body and felt the best mentally when I go to cardio barre. Also as someone who has a knee injury, it's so great that it's low impact.
