So.
The pizza was pretty good but I just got hosed on the meatball hero. What a shitty sandwich for 7.50
C'mon guys really.
I would not recommend this place for sandwiches. They are cheap with the portions for the price they charge.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 14, 2019
We live maybe 20 minutes from The Bronx in NJ but our visit to Captain's was a reminder why it's worth the trek over the bridge to go for casual dinner.
Prices are reasonable, portions are huge and service was fine. My veal parm was excellent.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 2796202Sep 7, 2016
Let me start off by saying this is hands down the best Italian American food in the NYC!
I have been to Captain's over two dozen times with friends, family, my son and we all love it here. We have come for celebrations, get together, dinner and even for take out and if I am lazy I will order from home.
When you first walk in you think, "oh a regular pizzeria, cool". But you are mistaken, if you go to the back, and trust me you should! Its a full on restaurant experience. The wait staff are super friendly, like family really. You build lasting relationships with them because the feel of the place is that you are going to their home for dinner. And that is exactly what the food reminds me of, home cooked, heart warming, soul comforting Italian American food. You can tell the food is all made with love, from scratch, you wont find them using store bought sauces here!
I highly recommend this place, you will not be disappointed!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - EL H.San Bruno, CA2520692Sep 28, 2019
Friends who live locally to Captain's Pizzeria suggested we meet here for dinner. To be honest, I don't remember anything we ate here and it wasn't long ago we went. It just didn't stand out to me. And as for the service, I found it to be uncomfortable, missing warmth. When we walked in, there was no acknowledgement and they just seemed salty, almost obligated to serve.
My friend liked the prices, which is the ultimate reason she chose the place, but I didn't think it was worth it.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Win L.New York, NY1045135Dec 4, 2017
Great hidden gem in the Morris Park! A friend took us there and didn't steer us wrong...food was excellent! Been here twice already! From the outside, it looks like a small pizza shop, but if you go to the back, it's a dining area with seating. Good for bigger parties as well...but recommend one make reservations.
Bread is fresh and hot and the salad is good too.
We has the mussels in white wine sauce with garlic bread...(yum!!!), fried calamari, chicken parm, rib eye portabello special is delicious! Service is great. Make sure to save room for dessert as well!
Will have to try the pizza next time!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lyza R.Bronx, NY073Apr 6, 2019
This has always been my go to spot for Italian food. It's also my go to spot for when I celebrate something for my kids because of the seating in the back for large parties. BUT, ever since they changed management or owners it's gone downhill for them. On multiple times that I've visited my order has been wrong. If it wasn't that my beef patty was cold, it was that they added something to my salad that I specifically didn't ask for example peppers. I asked for grilled chicken with my order and they give me chicken cutlet instead on another visit. That's 3 mistakes, 3 different times. I don't know what's going on at the New Captains but we need the old guys that made Captains the best in Morris Park back. ASAP!!!!

I can't help but love this amazing family oriented pizzeria. And the food is always so good. My current favorite and a must ask for when going in are the Nutella knots a perfect ending to a perfect meal.
As for the service- so beyond a fun environment. Always laughter and feeling of being at home. Now of course when a place gets busy it can be hectic but hey that just means they're doing great.
As for the new owners- I'm so beyond happy that you are keeping the tradition of family environment going and not a fast food pizzeria like most other places.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - P S.Bronx, NY45053May 22, 2020
I am not understanding the bad reviews... to each his own I guess. All I can say is I am the pickiest eater on the planet. I basically hate everything, so with that being said I am very careful where n what I order. I wondered into The Captains Pizzeria and ordered a large pepperoni pizza..... it is perfecto! Some people look for the red carpet when the enter an establishment so I guess the service wasn't up to their VIP standard. I just wanted good food. Their price was a little higher than some of the other area pizza places. Honestly I would rather pay more money for great food than less for garbage. If your picky like me n just want a great pizza give them a try. They got my vote I'll never go anywhere else when I'm in the area.

Eaten here a few too many times. The pizza is good always on point. There pizza sauce is good I can eat it up by itself. The crust and cheese is good also.
The staff are 95% young men and all are cuties and friendly of course.
There's new management and name has change also.
I give it a 4 because they were number #1 with their mussels but after a few too many times the mussels are bite size or not open at all. Definitely will not order the mussels again and not worth the $$.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 17, 2015
This is my go-to take out place for pizza, they definitely deliver the goods.
The pizza is the real deal - very authentic; if you're looking for classic Bronx pizza you'll find it here. The calzones are also delicious - both the meat and the cheese ones bring me right back to my childhood; their sausage and pepper roll is also great. For non-pizza, my go-to is the chicken capricciosa; they fry the cutlet perfectly and it has a good cheese/chicken/greens balance. The Captain's Salad is also a good choice. Portions are large and everything always tastes fresh. I usually order take-out but they have a dining room in the back for sit-down. I've only eaten in-house once or twice and I have no complaints.
The Bronx, especially Morris Park, has a lot to offer for pizza choices, and this is definitely one of the better places.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
