Captain D's

Yelp! I love Captain D's! Gardendale has been redeemed thanks to Ms. Diana! Superb service. Not only is she charming, she had everything exact and in the bag, served with a smile! Sh Veblen offered a courtesy drink, while I waited. I had the 4 piece dinner with double green beans. Bae had the catfish dinner with green beans, Cole slaw and fries. I don't know if the food was good or the service was so good, the food tasted better! Y'all already know, I'll be back.

Food was under cooked and someone bit in my hush puppy and the fires are cold. Service is good tho

I when to the drive-through this evening. The wait was no long that most drive-though in Gardendale. I order the 15 pcs. fried shrimp dinner. My order was correct, and to my surprise was given 1 extra piece of fried shrimp. Lol

Food very delicious!

I'm disappointed with my visit today. I went on my lunch breast to pick up Captain D's Seafood Feast. It comes with 12 pieces of fish, a dozen butterfly shrimp, 3 stuffed crab shells, hushpuppies, and 2 large sides. There was was only one person ahead of me in the drive-thru which I thought was a good thing. First off, they were out of D's dipping sauce and honey mustard sauce. Secondly, I was short one stuffed crab shell. Thirdly, they didn't put any malt vinegar in my bag as requested. After I placed my order, I was asked to pull up and told they would bring it out. I asked if tarter sauce and vinegar was in my bag when my food was brought to my car and the employee assured me everything was in the bag. Well when I checked, everything was not in the bag and the employee had gone back inside. My only option was to go back through the drive-thru since the dining room was closed. By this time, other cars were in the drive-thru. I was on my lunch break so I don't have time to get back in line to retrieve my missing items. I had to cut my losses and leave. I decided it wasn't worth it to call the manager and go back later for one stuffed crab. On a positive note, my food was hot. But I did not enjoy the fish as much without the malt vinegar.

So glad they are back open. I ordered 2 fish and chips and 1 with a side of green beans. Got home , and my fish and chips with a side of green beans was just fish and green beans . The fish was good though.

I usually try to avoid fast food, but the parentals wanted seafood while we were in this neighborhood so we came to Captain D's. Since I don't eat cooked fish (Am I weird?), the three of us split a 3 piece meal with four sides total. My mom was worried we wouldn't have enough food, but I can assure you it was plenty of food for the three of us. I was so stuffed after the meal. The restaurant interior was almost spotless, and you didn't feel like you were sitting in a fast food chain. Their staff was extremely friendly too. As for the food, I ate the majority of their fries. They are a lot different than I remember as a child growing up. They used to be thin but have been making much thicker cuts now. Not sure which I like better, they were both amazing. The hushpuppies were crisp and flavorful. The broccoli wasn't seasoned much if at all, and I'm not gonna complain about that since the rest of their menu is rather salty. They served as a good balance. Finally, I also ate some of the coleslaw. I've never been crazy about coleslaw nor hated it, so it was about average to me. My only complaint is that I didn't really like the square tan plates they served our food on. It didn't really help the food look as appetizing as it was, but hey it's fast food after all!

Not crazy about fried seafood-that's just personal preference.

My favorite at Captain D's is actually the chicken fingers and fries.

Captain D's is a place we only go to once every 1 to 2 years anyway.

This location just seems kind of dirty (the booths) but the food is fine.

New trick. Bought a $4.99 meal and a drink. They ask if I wanted a medium or large drink. I never drink a large so said medium. My husband bought a $4.99 meal and medium drink as well but bumped up one side, for an extra $.39. Total for two cheap meals came to $16.01. The trick is there's a small beverage that's cheaper. The medium is huge and is $2.09 before tax. This food is fast food, not worth that much for what we expected to be a cheap meal.

I came today and the cashier I forgot her name but she was dark skinned with braids and she just had the biggest smile on her face as soon as I walked in the door she greeted me and made me feel welcome she has such an amazing smile and so polite! And the food was ready in no time 5 star food . Very clean ! But cold . But I will MOST DEFINITELY come again . And she stated that she had just started . You guys REALLY hit a home run with her . Makes me want to come every day she's so nice . Great work captain D's !

Food is good. As stated by another, the tables and chairs are not always clean. We go once every couple months. Food deserves 4 stars but the dining area I would give 2.
