My family rented a 27' RV from Camping World in San Leandro in December 2011 to end the year. A 2011 adventure to close out the year. The trip was a success we had a lovely time for two weeks. Hot springs, mountains, lakes, Disney, Universal, Hearst Castle, etc. Great time.
The manager, Christine Morrison and staff of Camping World were fabulous. Since this was my first RV rental I had a lot of questions and Christine was patient and provided excellent advice. The staff was top notch. Customer service excellent. The equipment was in excellent shape and worked well. Absolutely the best experience for a first timer. Also, the cost of everything was exceptionally low because of the season. Bottom line: 1. excellent service - 5 stars; 2. excellent equipment- 5 stars. and I highly recommend this business for your RV rentals.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Em M.Honolulu, HI72163Sep 24, 2013
BEWARE!!! Never rent from these jokers!!! They rent damaged RVs and try to stick you with the charges! If you are allitle late they charge you late fees. We travel every year on a family road trip, we are experienced campers, don't make the same mistake we made with Camping World.

I was very close to renting from them but they have a non-refundable reservation fee which was a deal killer. They said if something happened I could reschedule the trip to another time, but I have a set vacation schedule. Too bad as the RV's look great! Cruise-America has a 7-day minimum on cancellations, and even though their campers look to be a bit older, I can't risk losing $300 if "life happens" right before my trip. Cruise America seems to be more flexible, so going with them.

If I could, I would give 0 stars. Just like the last reviewer below stated, they truly rent scratched and damaged RVs and stick you with the charges. Not only that, they said we could return the RV by 5pm on the agreed upon date and they retracted that and said it was suppose to be back by 9a that day and charged us $30/hr x 8hrs! For being late. I will never rent from them again and advice everyone else not to!!!

This is the 2nd place I've rented an RV from and the rental staff were very helpful. Big pluses for picking me up from the Bart station to get the RV and offering to drop me off at Bart for the return. The only downside is that if you're trying to return the RV on Monday it can get a little hectic as so many people are trying to return at the same time.
A second plus is that the RV equipment is pretty top notch. Much better than Cruise America. Highly recommend if you're looking to rent an RV in the east bay.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Hillary N.San Francisco, CA6101Jul 10, 2014
Wow! What a fantastic experience! EVERYTHING was easy and as advertised. We rented a 2014 RV for 10 days and it was in excellent condition. One little maintenance hiccup (no oil in generator) was handled quickly by a service tech in Idaho on a holiday weekend. Otherwise, the RV was newish and in great shape, worked well, clean, and more. Yes, you have a $300 non-refundable deposit, which I get. Their processes to check in and out the RV is very solid and we only paid for the damage we did (boy, can those get wide :o) and then it was very minimal. These were in much better shape than Cruise America and Family RV (yes, we did our homework and saw all of them). Easy, good quality and will definitely do it again. Was surprised by not more positives on yelp, but so glad we gambled with them!

The reason we chose this company was because previous reviews claimed the RVs were supposed to be clean and well taken care of even taken out of service when they became too worn. THIS IS NOT TRUE. Our RV's couch was disgusting, the dining table cushions were soiled and everything was just long in the tooth. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

My wife and I are locals to where this place is in San Leandro. There are four other RV rental places within a 20 minute drive of us. We have rented from the others as well and just popped in to browse and see what kind of units they are renting. The other places didn't compare. Whether it had to do with the physical unit themselves or the contractual agreements you have to sign. We will keep coming to Camping World hands down. Yes camping worlds units are really nice but the other places have nice units too. When it comes down to the paperwork this place stands above the others. For example the insurance is included in the price. We didn't have to get a binder from our insurance company. There is no, "Well we can offer you this insurance for this much extra per day. It covers blah blah blah....." Pretty much one price and here you go. We haven't traveled far so we haven't had to buy any of the mileage plans. So I can't give an opinion on that. Also we have our own camping gear and now that we've been renting for the last 5 years we even have an RV box so we don't buy any of their "convenience" packages, camping supply packages, etc. So no opinion on that either. My only gripe is with this last years unit we couldn't angle the flat screen from the wall because it would turn itself off. Doesn't sound like much but it was a bummer when we were in the middle of our favorite show and then...... blank screen.
