First time ever and had the Southwest Bowl. It was and will be back! Super fresh ingredients, even the sliced avocado.

I LOVE cafe yumm. The ingredients are always fresh, including perfect avocado every single time. The sauce is tangy, unique, and vibrant. The meal is remarkably filling given the low fat and protein content. Any bowl can be customized in any way, crucially, including swapping brown rice for white (what can I say, brown rice tastes like dirt to me). The only downside to cafe yumm, typically, is the price. $15 for a medium bowl with protein (the smallest portion you can expect to constitute a full meal) is steep. Steep, but managable. Worth it for a treat, not for an every day meal.
"But Ethan," you ask, "why only 3 stars?" Well, it's this location in particular. The Candelaria Crossing Yumm has the most astonishingly skimpy portions of any Yumm location I've visited. This compounds the price issue nearly to the breaking point. The flavor is still there, the delightful service is still there, but paying $15 for half a counter-serve meal just won't cut it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I purchased a chicken bento to go as this was my first time visiting a Cafe Yumm and got home to find hardly any chicken in the container. Literally 25% of what I was expecting and the meal was $11.
The only good thing I can say is the young lady who answered the phone was willing to give me more if I went back, but as I told her --- I will never be back. I can not recall a time where I was more disappointed in an establishment. I hope that young lady finds a new place to work because she was much classier than Cafe Yumm deserves.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - P F.Portland, OR0135Dec 8, 2022
We like the food and order for delivery but 90% of the time some part of our order is wrong... or someone else's completely! Very frustrating. Plus when adding chicken, it's barely anything.

Food is usually okay. Prices are way too high for the size portions you get. Prior to COVID prices were way too high for the size of portions. Now it is crazy pricing. I ordered a medium dish. In any other restaurant it would have been considered a small dish. I like to give business to small local restaurants, not chain restaurant's. I can not afford high prizes like this.

Updated review.
After my initial bad experience and Very Bad Review, I got a call from management wanting to make it right.
They did.
I am grateful that management is so responsive to bad reviews and is willing to stand by their restaurant to make sure they have satisfied customers. Because of this, I'm willing to give Cafe Yumm another chance.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Aug 4, 2021Previous reviewAs it's been ages since I've left a review... and even longer since I've left a bad review... you know it pains me to write this.
I ordered from Cafe Yumm on Doordash simply because I'm too exhausted to cook after the day I just had. As Doordash also had a coupon for $10 off on orders of $30 or more--from this restaurant and/or a couple others--decided to order a lot of food and save the leftovers.
I wish I hadn't bothered.
I wish I had stayed hungry and exhausted.
What I got was a "meal" that was 99.99% rice noodles, and little else. The 3 bites of chicken that came with it weren't worth the extra $5 I paid for it. They were also greasy and bland.
The other meal was the same, except it was 99.99% rice rather than rice noodles. Maybe 2 bites of slaw that went with it. (I thought I was getting 2 entirely different meals.)
Folks, rice and/or rice noodles aren't expensive. I got... maybe... $1 worth of food for each $15 meal. It terms of quality and quantity, I wouldn't have given this to a starving dog out of kindness.
The only other thing I ordered were the chips and salsa, which were gawdawful. The few chips tasted as though they were cooked in stale oil. The salsa was bland and devoid of flavor.
Even with the $10 coupon, due to tips and other fees, I spent (almost) $30 for a meal that wasn't worth $3.
I wish I could warn other Doordashers. I won't be back. - Ashish P.Salem, OR029Dec 12, 2022
Just love it, the sauces and the salsa make a difference for me! I could have it every day if I could:)

Hi Ashish,
We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed dining with us! Thank you for the wonderful review. - Karla M.Costa Mesa, CA02117Jun 26, 2022Updated review
We stopped going to all their locations and returned about 6mos later, everything was accurate. On very rare occasion their beans will be a little hard for my taste but it's happened twice in the span of a year. All of their employees now at the commercial location are wonderful and my order has not been wrong again. We continue to return almost any time we choose to eat "fast food". Great quality food.

Jun 29, 2019Previous reviewEvery time I have gone to purchase food there they mess up my order. literally every time. Today was probably the most annoying thing they've done. Usually I ask to exclude part of the bowl because my body doesn't react well to it and usually they add it anyway. Today they added it anyway, but it was a portion about the size of the rice or beans in the yum bowl. They were asked to exclude this item and they added it anyway, not only that but they added so much of it- my food was cold by the time I could take it all out. Incredibly frustrated, especially because once is an accident but every single time? Even after being asked to please make sure it doesn't get added because they always mess up the order. Honestly at this point I get a more accurate order at McDonalds.
