Cafe Med is an easy alternative for a meal on a date, with friends or family, or for whatever the occasion. It' has a great terrace right on the corner of Sunset Blvd and Sunset Plaza Drive, which makes for amazing people watching. I've seen celebrities there, and Curb Your Enthusiasm was shot there as well (more than once).
As for the food, it's consistently good, but not necessarily great. Just very satisfying with a good atmosphere. You'll enjoy this place.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - C. G.Los Angeles, CA06312Oct 27, 2017
So sad this place closed! I ordered their beef carpacio and their pumpkin ravioli for years! I wish this place had another location.

Love this place but stopped in on Father's Day to discover they were closing. June 18 was their last day according to our waitress. Apparently Wahlburgers will be opening a location here. So sad.

Cafe Med in Sunset Plaza closed on Sunday, June 18, 2017.
I'm sad to see it go. I liked it. What will take its place?Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dr. Debbie S.Los Angeles, CA029Jun 19, 2017
Used to eat here all the time and loved it. I've heard it went downhill but unfortunately experienced that myself....food poisoning from the linguine with clam sauce on Saturday night. When I was finally able to, I called and left a message for the manager to let them know how sick they made me. So far, she's not bothered calling back.
They closed then next day. No wonder they served bad clams....had to empty out the fridge.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Emily M.San Ramon, CA2732626May 17, 2017
LOVE this place! The location is perfect -- right on the sunset strip. There is designated parking in the back lot for Cafe Med customers, much more convenient than trying to find parking on the street somewhere along the sunset strip. Perfect little date night spot. The service was great, the food was even better. Especially enjoyed the bread basket w/ oil and vinegar they bring as a complimentary appetizer. Will def be eating here again next time I'm in LA and in the mood for Italian!

Now, I always judge an Italian restaurant by the quality of their calamari and I am happy to say that the calamari at Cafe Med were good. The bread that they give you before the meal was also exceptional. They give you two types, one a little dryer than the other but both great with a little bit of oil.
I got a pizza and was not disappointed. It was incredibly made and really well balanced. The amount of Parmesan they gave me on the side made me question if we didn't just invade Italy and commandeered all their cheese.
My dinner companions had the lamb chops, apparently too out of this world to share, and the fish four ways. I forget what the dish was called but it is essentially four different types of fish all perfectly cooked and plated. The kicker is that they now add an extra piece.
If your in the mood for Italian, this is a great place to try.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Rick G.Los Angeles, CA5194May 1, 2017
WE LOVE THIS RESTAURANT. NONE BETTER... My wife and I come here just about every Saturday night. We sit outside and have never had a bad meal here. The service is incredible and the Manager Vivianna treats everyone that walks in, like its her kitchen at home. I have tried everything, from the yummy whitefish, to the Pizza, pasta with spicy shrimp, New York steak with peppercorn sauce and the lamb chops are insane. We get caesar salad which is yummy. Love the dressing. My wife gets this insane bone in lightly breaded chicken filet that is huge. They also have a chocolate souffee' cake dripped with a molded chocolate sauce and a scoop of pistasio ice cream. You can't find a better place to eat and have fun. Great for a date night and they make you feel like you are family. Vivianna and Wendy and Zelda all come by and say hi and that's why we ALWAYS come back. We hope this place stays forever!!!!
