Gave this resto another chance by ordering to pick up... They were prompt and my order was on time soonest i almost arrived order was ready..
Ordered beef steak XL but it did not meet my size expectation..
Taste wise - Food was very flavorful, the only problem was it was full of oil like swimming in oil, meat was full of fats and it was also drowning in onions..
If you want to up you cholesterol level, by this greasy fatty foodHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 21, 2016Previous reviewWe dropped by there just to order some to go and trays .. But the old woman there seems very irritable, very impatient and grumpy.. She wanted us to order soonest when we were still thinking of what we really needed since their menu is very different from the other Cabalen we go to..
She should not be in the Front of the House if she's in a grumpy behavior.. Not all customers are Asians, so to speak!! Drop that ugly behavior and take it somewhere, or leave it in your house! That attitude gives a bad impression to Foreigners! - Jennifer G.American Canyon, CA84321Jun 24, 2021

I've eaten here a few times in the past and it's always been good. Today my pacit was horrible. The noodles were so gummy they stuck together and it taste sour like it has been sitting all day. So so upset because I was really looking forward to it. I'm done!!!

When going to the commissary and exchange at Travis AFB, my parents wanted something to eat. They suggested something from the food court. Uhm, no. Sorry, 'rents, but when you're with your Yelper son, you ain't eating Taco Bell!
I checked on Yelp and there was a Filipino restaurant close by. Yes! My parents were definitely on board with that!
This place is basically your typical turo-turo (point-point) restaurant. The kind in which the food is behind the display window and you point to what you want (kind of like Panda Express). However, the different in this place is that end options are huge! Normally, these kind of Filipino restaurant will carry 10-12 different items. This place might have had twice as much. Don't forget to ask if they have something that you don't see. I didn't see Sisig (Grilled Pork with onions, jalapenos, and citrus (probably calamansi)) and they had it in the back.
You can choose your rice, pancit (noodles), and even Filipino-style spaghetti, which is a little sweet. With that, you get your "ulam" which is basically your protein and vegetable sides. With a few of us there, we tried a bunch of different things. From the aforementioned Sisig, to Beefsteak (with onions), to Kare Kare (Oxtail Stew), to Bulalo (Bone Marrow Soup). They also had desserts from a Bakery in Vallejo (forgot the name. Sorry!).
Service was great and they had lots of seating. While it didn't seem dirty, I can understand if someone might think it's dirty. Our table was clean, but some of the other tables looked like they could use some attention. Parking was plentiful and it wasn't too far off the beaten path. It's a good option for those looking for some decent Filipino food.Helpful 28Thanks 0Love this 28Oh no 0 - Jul 17, 2019
Mainly based on their catering orders and this is long overdue. My parents once used to place tray orders and bring home entrees to eat because we enjoyed the quality of the food here. However, my experience picking up my catered tray convinced me that I wouldn't be coming back. Customer service killed it for me and NEEDS to be improved when it comes to large fluctuation of orders, especially on holidays!
Upon arriving, my half tray order of sisig wasn't ready yet at the quoted time, but I didn't mind waiting since it was pretty busy that day. I also decided to order a small entree to take with me home for lunch. The cashier asked me to wait a few minutes, but I didn't expect the very annoyed tone AND look she gave me! She also muttered under her breath in Tagalog, "this girl is asking for too much, we're already busy." It was very unfortunate, especially since I fluently understand Tagalog so I knew exactly what she said about me. I was a little upset that she made that comment but I just decided to brush it off. After 10 minutes, I finally got my party tray and entree. Unfortunately, that was the last time I ever went to this location.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 10, 2019
I called the day before to see if I could place an order for a party tray of lumpia, $30 for 100 pieces of lumpia. The man over the phone said to just come in because they would have enough. I was kind of nervous because of previous reviews. However, my sister and I went the next day and placed the order and our lumpia was ready within 15 minutes. The lumpia was delicious and crispy. If I lived in the area I would definitely order from them again. My sister and I shared the cassava cake and that was sweet and delicious! Loved it!

3.5 stars would have been more accurate.
I've been here a couple of times now with my parents. Most recently we came here after mass on Sunday to get some takeout since we had family coming over.
We got menudo and kare kare. Kare Kare is my favorite Filipino dish, I felt like all the meat in the kare kare was "taba" Aka Fat. The taste wasn't bad but I wasn't a fan of the meat in it. They have different size tubs with set prices and you just select "turo-turo" style (Cafeteria style) which dishes you want.
The thing that I love here is the caramel cupcakes OMFG! It tastes so good! It's pretty much mamon sponge cake with filling topped with caramel icing. It's delicious! It will be my wedding cake ha ha!Helpful 34Thanks 0Love this 34Oh no 0 - Roxy S.American Canyon, CA032Jan 16, 2021
Decent style buffet breakfast menu, but food is overpriced. Not recommended. They price their food as if they're a Michelin rated restaurant! Cabalen is a "turo-turo" but be prepared to easily spend $40-50 for a meal for two!
Best to go to Andrea's Foods on Maple St - good prices, good food, good people - they've been around forever!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 24, 2018Updated review
Vince you outdid yourself again! Quality meat/seafood/veggies ingredients on the BUFFET line! Only the best at Cabalan and for 10.99 11am-2pm you really can't beat the price tag and delicious food. Attached pic for your viewing pleasure and you'll know what I'm talking about. Trying to go only once a month otherwise I'd need to be rolled outta the house. Salamat Vince!

Vince's team really won the party over w/ the quality and preparation of ingredients and dishes. We couldn't be anymore happier. (pictures speak for themselves)
Jan 16, 2013Previous reviewLove this place! This is our go-to Filipino food in town. Reasonably priced for the amount of food packed in recyclable and microwavable to-go containers. The owner is especially generous esp if you're the first customers, "bueno mano", complimentary dishes to accompany your order. Weekends they have garlic rice and "silogs" (w/ fried egg). Our fave dishes are salmon sarcaidio, Bicol express, and adobo...classic Filipino fare. We're here a couple times per month when cooking at home is a chore. Support local businesses!

I haven't had real good sisig in a while so when a friend of mine said this place had sisig and the food was good, my friends and I decided to go while we we were on our way to SF. Upon arriving, they didn't have the sisig we wanted. It was actually lechon sisig that they had but we decided to get it anyway.
We did the rice plates. I believe it was 6.99 for 2 scoops of rice and 1 entree item and 7.99 for 2 entree items. I got the binagoongam which had pork and eggplants in it topped with a mango salsa. My friend got the sisig and my BF got the menudo with longanisa.
We all tried each other's dishes and overall the food was just OK and nothing really spectacular about it. One thing that threw me off was that they microwaved our food. So I'm assuming that they cook the food in the morning and just let it sit outside all day until someone orders it and they warm it up by microwaving it...
A positive thing is that the worker was really nice and took the time to tell us what each of the dishes were. Buuuut we wouldn't come back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
